Fantastic location , wonderful sea views , calm atmosphere in a busy little resort . staff very pleasant Not so much the hotel , but check out the portimao events schedule before booking as there is an outdoor music venue just at the side of the hotel which had 'rave' type disco playing every night throughout august. Music started at midnight through to 4.30 - 6.00am then further noise from drunken people making their way home. Unfortunately this completely ruined our holiday and as a result has put us off booking again in the summer months

Should you require a sea view room or suite I would suggest upgrading to a frontal sea view , as the levante side of the hotel sea view rooms are overlooked by a busy terrace bar and restaurant which some holidaymakers may find a little intrusive.

Location Good location-hotel ok but asked for change of room as first one offered was small and dark-was then given a top floor room which was much better. Would have loved to have my secateurs with me to cut back some of those awful hanging plants hanging from top floor to bottom !!!

The location is excellent just over the beach, and that was the main purpose of our stay, with a 22 months baby we didn't want to walk or drive to the beach therefore this hotel is perfect for that purpose. However is a little old dated and some refurbishment could be done. Also a microwave oven should be placed in the kitchenette. The noise from nearby discos/bar may be heard but no major issues. (I was on the 3rd level). The pool, the breakfast service and the beach were very nice.

The hotel was situated overlooking the beach at Praia de Rocha, with very comfortablr accommodation and very professional and helpful staff. The food at the hotel was of a very high standard at a very reasonable price (if only staying bed & breakfast). There was very little parking and it was often a long walk from parking in side steets back to the hotel.

I paid extra for a suite and I was really glad I did. I was traveling with my husband, 17yr old daughter and 5 yr old nephew. It was fantastic to have all the space in the room. We had a room of our own and then there was a sofa bed which the other two shared. There was a small kitchen in room also.

This hotel is a bit hard to find but is totally worth it. Nice pool, direct beach access and you can check in or out at any time because they have a 24 hour front desk. Great views from the balcony , nice little fridge. Highly recommended!

The room and facilities were very clean. We liked the comfort of the bed. The breakfast was very good with a nice variety. The proximity to the beach was great and the location of the hotel was great. The half board was not a buffet but rather a choice of 1 entree out of 2 and priced high for what you got. Service was also poor in the evening. You had to pay extra for a safe which we found unusual. Additionally, the hotel only had 3 parking spaces. In the hotel description, it says parking is available nearby. In reality, during high season, it is just about impossible to find parking. We had to park very far away which was inconvenient.

From the time we checked in at reception to the time we left a week later the staff were so helpful and friendly. The location is away from the noisy strip and has beautiful views of the atlantic. It also has its own private steps down to the beach. The sunbeds are located in its own private garden. No regular evening entertainment. Also, the waterfall was on during the day and was difficult to have a siesta with the noise.

I liked the peace and quiet, even though the Hotel was busy the poolside area was lovely...we had a choice to have breakfast outside and/or inside. It was so relaxing. The temperature was 30deg. I would definitely stay in the Oriental again. Soap was not left in the bathroom on a daily basis. I asked the housekeeping staff on day 3 to leave soap.

Didnt like the fact that we could not stay in our room for an extra 2 hours before our flight, as the hotel was no where near full. We did not arrive at the hotel until midnight , this should be taken into consideration. Also didnt like that everything, is an extra payment, even charged 2.5 euros for a cup of milk.

An excellent choice of many in the center. Renember to ignore their directions to the hotek. When you arrive at Portamao go to Playa de Hotel is to the left on the strip Do not miss restaurant Titanic I live in hotels 250 days a year I eat in 21 Restaurants a week Only problem here is the weal breakfast served by excellent staff The lication could be excused for being CRASS and an English Qeekend Retreat My response.... Where have you been to a finer beach in your LIFE? ANSWER= Probably never, unless you have bodyguards or are just clueless. If you want a kickin beach and nice hotel, and cannot afford the Bellavista, this is a great choice.... The new rooms are of my caliber... I rent a REAL apartment on Lake Como that has the style of room 108 see www.varennarental.com. Great location with really nice staff, a winner 6 out of 10 old rooms 8 out 10 new rooms You MUST visit the ALGARVE...Beaches and hotels, do not visit for any OTHER reason.... Do tou always have to see a church? Kickin Beaches with Real Waves 30 minutes away at Amedo I Dated 80"s style but still acceptable Aversge Breakfast Paying for wifi

The size of the room and balcony was perfect. Breakfast was very disappointing. Ants in the room were a problem as they were not only around the edges of the room but all over the floor.
