Very good location, within walking distance to major attractions, close to bus and tram stops as well as train station. Interesting, nostalgic decorations. Very kind and friendly staff. WiFi was free and worked very good.
The breakfast was very simple - one sort of canned ham and cheese, neither vegetables nor warm dishes... but you can have it on a terrace with a nice view. Musty smell, not insufferable but clearly perceptible while entering the room.
excellent & helpful staff, great location by metro, breakfast was a nice touch
Breakfast was plentiful and complete, we enjoyed the rooftop terrasse.
Bed matresses are a bit hard and tired, carpets were very dusty adding to our allergic sensitivity.
The hotel was easy to find, near to the metro station. Easy access to tourist buses and railway station. Intersting retro dusplays and beautiful staircase, lift available. Our room was at the back of the hotel so relatively quite, spacious, clean and comfortable. Reception staff always friendly and help with local information/days out. Would use it again!
We stayed for a week and the breakfast got a bit boring, same thing day after day. Although staff friendly.
The charming concept Friendly/helpful staf Clean bathroom I can appreciate the efforts they do and I can defintely understand that other people like this place. But it's not my cup of tea.
The carpet in the room - not hygienic The room smelled a bit moldy/musty due to the carpet I guess Breakfast - would be better if there would be less choice and replace it by fresh more tasty things
Some of the staff were very helpful with providing maps and restaurant tips. Staircase
We booked a room with a king size bed & seating. The hotel sent an email day of arrival saying there was an issue with our credit card and booking would be cancelled at 6:00pm. We arrived before 4:00pm to find booking had already been cancelled and replaced with a room with twin beds that smelt of stale urine. We asked for a different room, they cleaned room and plugged in air freshener instead. Our credit card was fine and used to pay for the hotel and all other bookings during a month of travelling. There were many better options available to book twin rooms
The carpet (rugs) was very dirty and dusty. The room smelled bad because of the dirty rugs.
The room was big and great value for money with a good view and all the facilities .
The breakfast was a little basic, but not bad at all.
We loved all the retro stuff (our age is showing) and we loved the staff - they were adorable and english speaking seemed like a first language. Our room have darling balcony connected to others with lovely view of city, price was good and breakfast was sumptuous. Seemed like the United nations was eating with us. Right around the corner from fabulous restaurants and historic sights - great location for us to walk every where and went to Mass Sunday night after we arrived!
nothing - we loved it all - every moment!!!
Extremely helpful, knowledgeable staff. Great location. Restaurant well run with good food. My sister and I are 75+ seniors and we really appreciated all of the above. Hope to return - thanks. Joan Pescott - Port Moody, Canada
Great staff, clean, confortable and well located.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and most helpful. We were unable to park at first until we managed to get to hotel who gave directions to a supervised car park one hundred yards away. Then gave us a map and explained various options around the city. The room had been upgraded to a suite which was very big and comfortable.
The noise from the street permeated through the double glazing at times. The breakfast is adequate but the room is very small if they can't open the terrace in cooler weather. I would stay there again though.
The staff were fabulous. Marcelo, Virginie and Gisela were highly professional and very helpful in advising about Porto. They are a great advert for the hotel. Our thanks to them for making our stay a bit more enjoyable than it could have been considering the rather dowdy hotel decoration.
The place needs modernising with better beds and updating of bathroom (room 410). And a bit pricey for the quality of the accommodation.
Everything, although the same breakfast offerings everyday for a longer stay become boring.
Loved our stay at this hotel and was really impressed with the staff. We had a few problems with our booking (our fault!) and they dealt with it smoothly and efficiently. I must also say all staff were multi-lingual which made things so much easier.
Helpful and extremely pleasant staff. Instant taxi service Cental position.
Not always hot water for showers! Not informed about the taxi service until we arrived at the hotel.
The hotel was nice and the location very good. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We appreciate the terrace and the vintage style of the hotel.
Very noisy, the music from the bar was too loud and all slamming in the doors. If you decide to opt for this hotel earplugs is a must!
The hotel was ideally located in the old town, with secure car parking very close by, which was a bonus. The reception staff were very welcoming, efficient and extremely helpful, which helped us to make the most of our short stay in Porto. We would certainly go back to this hotel.
Nicely furnished rooms, the individual Roof Terrasse is great. Very friendly and nice staff
Breakfast could show some more variety, breakfast room is a Little bit small when you cannot use the space of the Roof terrace bar.
Staff lovely, very friendly and helpful. Rooftop breakfast area nice and breakfast good. Value for money.
Very, very small room and cramped bathroom. All a bit dated.
The location is perfect. Nice people. And an original and attractive vintage decoration.
Very Noisy Inside. A very small and unconfortable breakfast room when the weather does not permit to eat outside. Poor ligthning of the rooms
Dated decor and furniture in room Cramped space for breakfast
The excellent location in old Porto. The very friendly & helpful staff. Good breakfast, that included fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, assorted breads - among other things. An excellent hotel in the 3-star category.. I stayed 9 days at the Pão de Acucar .in September 2014.
Very central, within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. Very clean and breakfast was good.
The room shown on my booking was not anything like to what i landed up with. The room i chose, Standard Double Room with Terrace, although smaller, was a lot more modern than the one i got...beware of this choice, you will be disappointed!! The furniture was so old and with a desperate need of revamping.
The location was the only good thing about the hotel.
We didn't mind the old furniture but they weren't just old, the smelled bad. The rooms smell like humidity and at one point randomly they would smell like sewage at night which was horrible. The beds are far too hard and very uncomfortable. Definitely a bad choice but it was the only available one in the location we wanted.
