It is not only the welcoming small bottle of port and the slice of a traditional cake that makes Residencia LIS special, it is also the graceful attitude of the owners. Joao patiently helped us with all the places of interest he had previously highlighted on a tourist map and directed us to the best value restaurant in the neighborhood, which happened to be just around the corner. His father Agostinho serves a very good continental breakfast every morning; and as a farewell token he gave us another bottle of port to take with us. Having the #600 Bus, that takes you downtown and back, stop at the door of the B&B is incredibly convenient. Muito obrigado Agostinho and Joao!
Our host, Agostinho, was very helpful and went out of his way to make our stay pleasant and memorable - the complimentary local cake and port were not to be missed! His advice, maps and directions were invaluable in finding our way around. All of the hotel staff were most accomodating.
The access was a little difficult at first until, with our host's help, we mastered the local bus and train system.
The owner and staff were very friendly and pleasant, the owner was very helpful, and gave us free cake & port on arrival. It was great to have free wifi, and the public transport is very good.
The only thing that we didn't like was hearing noise from the floor above us. I take it the building is fairly old hence the floor boards pretty thin.
Feels like I am sleeping in my own bed. Easy to get to all the sights. Staff and host were very helpfull. Fast wi-fi. Bottle of port and pastries are a plus. I love the place!
Kind staff, they're very organized Room clean and in good condition , they have all the comforts you wanted The gift bottle on arrival ( Porto aged 20s ! soo good ) was very appreciate
If i had to found a little trouble, in bathroom had a little loss of water
Parking place opposite the hotel, nice staff, walking distance to the city center about 30 min. breakfast included
little bit poor breakfast but for that price is ok
Charming management - helpful and knowledgeable. Quiet and clean. Excellent value for money.
Shower Cubicle was rather small!
Very welcoming and warm staff. Appropriately priced for degree of comfort and general condition of the accomodations. Our room at the back was very quiet. If your style is to be mostly out and about exploring, this makes a good base. Slightly out of the touristic center, but I felt this can also be considered an advantage: on a direct bus line if you tire of walking; nearby restaurants are excellent and not at all focused on attracting tourist income.
For the price, I was happy with everything, adjust your expectations accordingly!
The owner of the hotel went above and beyond to help me during my stay at Lis B&B. Upon arrival, he immediately helped me get settled in on the first floor (switching me from the second level since my luggage was so large and would have been difficult to carry up the stairs!). While rushing to meet a friend in the city center, the owner gave me personalized directions in to town by bus and assured me that I'd make it to meet my friend on time. I was able to get personally escorted to the city center by his son in order to make it in time. I wish I had more than one night to spend at the residence, but what I was able to spend there was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom very spacious (and with awesome water pressure!), everything was extremely clean, and the atmosphere was perfect. An old home that was turned in to this hotel gave the entire place character and made me feel like I was stepping back in time. When I arrived back home late at night, I was left with a plate of cookies and a bottle of port wine with a small gift! I won't forget my time at Lis B&B - and will definitely be staying there the next time I'm in Porto.
The only downside to this hotel was the fact that it wasn't directly located in the city center. It was only about a 5 minute bus ride away, but I always prefer something a bit closer. Other than that, everything was perfect!
We stayed here for 2 nights. The place is clean and well organized. It is very easily accessible by bus or you can walk to the downtown area. The staff is wonderful and helpful. Everything was great and for the price it was very well worth it.
You are not in the center of Porto but it is very easy to get there!
Residencia LIS exceeded our expectations in every way. It was easy to find and the garaging arrangements for our car were perfect. Our room was clean and comfortable with a sitting area overlooking the garden. Our host was extremely welcoming and made many suggestions to help us enjoy our visit to Porto. We were sorry to leave.
If you are looking for gracious hospitality, this is where you should stay. We loved the hotel, which is a 30 minute walk from the touristic quarter of Porto. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, but we enjoyed the walk. Our room was very clean and spacious. We were most impressed by the owner, who went out of his way to make sure that we enjoyed our time at the hotel and in Porto. The staff was also kind and helpful. Very impressed! Thank you for everything!
The owner/manager is amazing. On arrival he gave us a bottle of port and a fresh cake he just baked. Then a map showing exactly what to see with all the public transport connections mapped out. (We didn't actually follow that tour but really appreciated the effort).
Location is out of town - a short bus ride or an hour's walk. We enjoyed the walk.
Good lpcation. Helpful staffs. Free parking.
Bathroom is dirty. Uncomfortable bed.
Noicy in The room neighbours and people on THE corridors
Nice place tot stay. Walking distance tot hoghlights. Or otherwise public transport.
The owner, his outstanding hospitality. He greeted us with a bottle of wine and few slices of fresh banana bread. When we asked about a place to buy some drinking water, he just handed us a big bottle of ice fresh water. His knowledge of the area was exceptional and he gave us many good hints about where to go and what to do. The room rate included parking in a secured garage across the street. The taxi ride from the river front back to the hotel was just under 6 euro.
The room was pretty spartan and the breakfast was very basic, but we didn't expect more, so there were no disappointments.
Very friendly staff. Owner, Augustino, speak English fluently. He gave us the map of the city and all possible explanations and recommendations. Port vine with cake in check in. Good and convenient parking in the centre of Porto.
A little poor, but acceptable breakfast.
Staff. Location. Quiet room. Good bed. Excellent value.
It's not that ididn't like these things, but youneed tohave realistic expectations - It's a budget hotel with budget rooms and a budget breakfast. It's great as a base to sleep, but you aren't going to want to hang out in your room for a few hours of "chill time". Go with realistic expectations and you won't be disappointed.
staff are family and were excellent. On arrival they had drawn on a map suggesting places to visit, buses, restaurants etc. We were greeted with cake and family port which was delicious. The rooms were clean and the location good with a bus stop right outside the door. The building is very old so the decor reflects this, so if thats your thing this is is the hotel for you.
The bathroom was tired and could do with a bit of modernising. The breakfast was poor consisting of bread and coffee and a few bits of fruit if available.
Our hostess generous with his time , directing us to a delightful neighborhood restaurant, explaining the days and evening events, even telling us at what ime we need to be where. He welcomed us with cake and port Location was great for walking down to the port and old city area. Our host made the stay exciting and let us see some of the real city life. the parking was perfect.
Direction to the b&b were difficult due to one way streets beds were not as comfortable as they could have been.
Very friendly owner and staff. Very welcoming. Easy parking
the hotel owner is a charming man which can really provide you with tips for travel in the city but also in the rest of the country; we really appreciated the complimentary porto wine we received the location is about 1km from city centre (or 4 metro stations)
the breakfast was quite poor, but still enough to start the day.
The owner was very helpful with ways to see various sites around Porto. He arranged taxis when we needed them and suggested various restaurants to try. We did feel we were very well looked after. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the warm sunshine.
Breakfast was adequate but a little sparse.
The owner taking time out to recommend and discuss the "must see" tourist sites.
