Magic location. Very comfortable room, did request a corner room with a view of the river and it was truly unbelievable., Great size, wonderful outlook... The lights of the port tasting area and monastery on the hill. Enjoyed the relaxing sounds of the river...boats, seagulls etc. a true escape location. Very convenient ...could walk everywhere. Would definitely stay there again. Arrived at checkin time 3pm by car to discover there was no road access. Had to get dropped off in rain and run down to hotel to discover there is no public car access between 11am and 5.30pm due to hotel being on a World Heritage Site. Parked car in nearby car park and then at 5.30pm drove down to drop off luggage. Would have been so much easier to know facts before hand......maybe include this info with confirmation details.

Well located hotel just by the riverside. Interesting development of a series of old houses make it a distinctive property. Close to a number of restaurants. Service was friendly and efficient. Romm was large and well equipped if a little characterless. Breakfast was adequate but repetitive.

My partner and me stayed in this hotel for four nights in early September. We had chosen the hotel mainly for its location right beside the Douro river in the old Ribera quarter and we were not disappointed. We had booked a room with river view which is really worth the extra money as it gives magnificent views. The fit out and design of the rooms is very pleasant, all worked perfectly and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good, in a very nice breakfast room. The neighbourhood is very nice and original and although it is quite lively during the day and in the evenings our room was quiet and allowed for a good night sleep. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay in this hotel again. The only thing that we didn't like was the price - they do charge for that river view.

The staff is absolutely outstanding, Paulo, Alexandre, Jacqueline, Jorge etc. Everyone trying doing the best as possible to make you feel as comfortable as you can. The room was something amazing, with the river view, making possible watching the best of Porto city and the micro system was a very good touch. The location of the hotel is great, right in the historical center. If you want to use wi-fi connection, Porto offers it for free, so, many complained about the expensive hotel wi-fi internet, just use the public one! If I come back to the city, I would certainly be there again.

Amazing location, right on the river, with bars and resturants right there. Short stroll to the main square. Staff very very friendly and helpful. Was clean and spacious. Didn't get the room with the river view, but in hindsight might have been worth the few extra €'s to do it.

Relatively small hotel in excellent location at riverside in Porto World Heritage area with adjacent tourist restaurants and within easy reach of shops & historical sites. Some may find absence of hotel restaurant (except spaceous breakfast room) and time-limited vehicle access to hotel a disadvantage.

This hotel has the best location possible if you want to visit Porto as a tourist, Not much in the way of facilities but who needs those when you step out the entrance and are right on the quayside.

Being close to the river and restaurants. Having a room overlooking the river, breakfast included, being close to restaurants, and not far from the quay where we had to catch the boat up the river.

The location was great for a quick visit to Porto Parking should not be an extra charge. There should be wireless available at no cost. A hotel of this price point should not be charging for this.

The only thing that was wrong was that the shower fitting was not the correct one for that shower so it kept on slipping from the setting that I wanted it at.

The most amazingly huge, comfortable pillows imaginable! Ideal location beside the river and a room with a river view is magic! Parking is in a public car park a short walk away but it is possible to drive along riverside to drop luggage at hotel - don't be put off by narrow streets or the activities along the waterfront to get there!

The hotel staff were very helpful and the position of the hotel down by the river could not have been better. Our balcony room overlooked the river and it was fun watching the constant activity below.

Perfect location for waterfront activities, with only reservation that it is at the base of a hill making for a steep hike up to the Metro and the majority of the city. The building is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. The room decor is dated and there's nothing especially distinguishing about the room interiors. The design hasn't been "branded" by the chain. My reservation was blundered and the staff blamed the computer system. The staff did not take accountability for the error nor make amends by accommodating me in a comparable room or otherwise attempt to make up for the error.

“First and foremost, the people make the place. Maria and Patricia, both very charming and so in love with their city and country met us in the lobby with Port in hand and a very thorough map guide of the city and sites. They could be docents for their beautiful city! Definately they are Ambasadors for Portugal!!!!!!!!!! Maria took care of all our luggage, laid out fine restaurants, handled our libations! What a fine young lady she is! I should also mention Marco, a fine lad who worked diligently in fixing an additional reservation problem. The hotel is very quite, almost remote, yet in the middle of the old beautiful part of Porto. Our room overlooks a tranquil garden and fountain and a joy to return to after strolling the city for hours. Minibar, just added, is very reasonable and fully stocked. (Super Bock is THE national beer and outstanding... beats Shinner Bock!!!! AC cold, beds firm but very comfortable. We will DEFINITELY RETURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Steven, Spring |
