In a Mediterranean pinewood facing the Atlantic, this designer hotel has accommodations with massage facilities. It features an outdoor pool and has direct access to a beach only 215 yards away.
Score from 597 reviews Very good
The Terrace Club features an outdoor pool and apartments with a well-equipped kitchen, just under a quarter of a mile from Praia da Nossa Senhora da Rocha.
Score from 395 reviews Good
room upgraded to suite only 20euros a night
complicated wi -fi connection
Good sized rooms with comfortable beds, kitchen with microwave, fridge, kettle and lots of crockery, cutlery etc. Good breakfast choice, big outdoor pool and indoor pool with sauna and Jacuzzi. Near to the beach and a decent bar nearby. Nice and quiet.
Wardrobe doors were poorly designed so it was impossible to access both sides at once. Not many coat hangers. Drinks expensive in the bar and a good 20/30 minutes walk into Armacao de Pera
friendly staff clean room lovely view from the window nice breakfast everything was lovely :)
- great location - clean and comfortable room - friendly and helpfull staff - nice breakfast
- internal pool need renovation and had cold water.
best possible location, perfectly clean and comfortable rooms and bathrooms, friendly and pollite staff, nice breakfasts quite good working internet with reasonable price, good towel service
internal pool in need of renovation with missing tiles, dirty walls and very cold water which was supposed to be heated, also open only till 8.00pm, hair dryer sticked to the draw with such a short cable that it was difficult to use it, not enough parking spaces in front of the hotel
Friendly and extremely helpful staff
The hotel lies at the picturesque shore. Accommodation was modern, cosy and comfortable with amasing view at the ocean coast - one of the best locations at the site. Room was daily kept clean and neat. Outdoor pool and adjacent to it beach have wonderful scenery of cliffs and ocean, that are located in a 5-minute walk. We had only breakfasts included, but the meal was diverse, delicious and healthy, bringing a big delight. Starting from the check-in and during all stay we've been pleasantly impressed by warm-hearted and helpfull staff.
Air con not cold. Rooms a bit old. Breakfast services very slow. Definitely for at least 2 nights out of the 4 mighty totally overpriced. Specilly the frisa mighty plus EUR 200 madre me feel well milked.
We stayed at the Pestana because of how close it was to the stunning beaches and caves. The hotel is miles away from the airport. The immigration officer said he had no idea where it was. The tourist guy said its in the middle of nowhere. We panicked slightly but it turned out to be a blessing. It is far away but we didn't want to stay where a lot of chav British people visit and wanted a quiet area. This is a family orientated hotel though. We had a sea view room which was lovely. Room was large and is more of an apartment than a standard hotel room. Two loos which is a bonus when traveling with the wife. Large balcony to have dinner on. The staff are fantastic, always smiling and very helpful. Can't fault the staff. Check in and departure was quick. We had a long wait for our departure flight and they held our luggage for us without any issues. We ordered room service a few times and the portions were ample. A quiet hotel, away from the hustle and bustle. We had a lovely time and would have loved to be able to stay on the beach for a few more days.
We didn't factor in the €55 one way taxi to get to the airport. Train link to the hotel is very limited and time consuming. Maybe a shuttle bus should be offered. The food ordered from room service was okay but very limited. One does expect more from a four star hotel. I have stayed in three star hotels that serve better food and more variety. Our room had a sea view however it over looked an unsightly court yard and roof. This spoiled the view. I would get a side view room or garden room, as most had sea views anyway. Our room was sufficient but tired. Marks on walls and doors. The window frames were falling apart. The room has tiles throughout, which gives the room a cold feeling. Not a major issue in summer though. There was an unknown liquid stain on the back of the entrance door. After day three I cleaned it off! Pillows are awful and don't have pillow protectors. Bed was hard. I like a hard bed though. Bed linen was very average for four stars. Breakfast was okay. Not a lot offered. Considering there is hardly any restaurants around for brunch or any meal, more variety would have been better. Not a lot catered towards vegetarians. Coffee was awful! Portuguese coffee is superb but this was cheap and nasty. It seemed as if everyone was smoking on their balconies which meant we had the door shut a lot. It was rather hot when we visited, so that was annoying. Wifi only in the lobby is so 1990 and frustrating!! Coffee, tea and milk in the rooms should be mandatory! Swimmers in next to nothing walking around the hotel is off putting! The hotel is dated and feels like I could be in a 1970's Russian hotel. Could be a fantastic hotel but needs a major renovation. If you want Portuguese culture you will not get it here.
Hotel location is priceless.. Friendly employees.
Food at dinner is simply awful... I had to pay 24eur for a lousy buffet, drinks and coffee not included. In Portugal food like that costs max 10eur (with drinks and coffee!) The price of the hotel is too much per night.. The hotel is not that good to charge that much, I know I paid just for the location.
Breakfast, Internet service
The hotel is close to a really nice beach. Everyday they have activities especially for kids. Plenty of activities nearby: trips by boat, rent canoes, diving etc. Was a lovely stay there and I definetly recommend it.
Location is excellent. Room was spacious. Breakfast very good. Plenty of room/sunbeds around the pool. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Tiling on 2nd floor courtyard needs to be completely re-done. Kids club was very juvenile and un-sporty. The fact that there was a fee for the scuba diving wasn't shown on the advertising poster.
The staff were excellent and very helpful.
Room a/c did not work.
The location was excellent, the outside pool area was great. Indoor heated pool was also fun.
The room wasn't as nice as we expected.
Great location and good facilities (such as the internal, warm pool and the external salted water pool)
Breakfast not really that special in terms of quality Disappointing Service (with the exception of a few members of staff most were rude or didn't really stand out) Expensive Buffet
Close to small but beautiful betches.
Poor breakfast even for a standard hotel. This is a vacation hotel. It should be much much better. The rooms. There are no real double rooms with one bed. Two beds only. One next to the other. Only suites have real sea view. So called sea view rooms have only 1/3 of sea view (beach). The rest is a city/garden. It should be called a side sea view. Superior rooms are those on the 6th and 7th floor. That's the only difference from std room. Palm trees are high. Up to 5th floor. In that case no sea view at all. Safe in the room is extra paid.
Hotel was clean and well kept.
We booked a superior room with sea view which was very limited because of a large tree blocking the view. Limited parking for hire car which was very necessary because of isolated location Breakfast variety was poor and sometimes cold. If the hotel was busy I don`t believe current staffing levels could cope.
we booked a double room with seaview first. the view was not directly, more around the corner of the balcony. complaining this the friendly front desk manager offered a suite with sea view for a little higher rate to us which we accepted. the suite was great. best view and very comfi. the beach close to the hotel is fantastic.
the double room with sea view is from the balcony's corner rather than direct. we didn't like the coffee and juice for breakfast.
Beautiful location, right by a beach (to the right of the hotel) and that beach was connected to another by a tunnel that goes through the cliff--very cool! Nice pool, and bar area outside (not a great view though). Breakfast was awesome, buffet with lots of options. Spacey rooms with big bathroom and kitchenette (good size mini fridge, microwave, sink, dishes). Over a good choice!
Hotel is really great, amazing breakfast.
No private parking, we had to find a place to park on the roads nearby that were quite busy for end of April, I wonder how difficult would it be in the summer.
the pool, the room, the area,
payed for sea view, did not get one, only a slice of sea between a tree and a massive building, I was only there one night, so not to important however would have left if i was going to stay longer. not the warmest of welcomes from lady receptionist, i had accidentally booked room for single occupation was given a grilling for this even as happy to pay to upgrade the twin room i had booked to double occupation.
Two very good swimming pools.
