The view was great. Very comfortable and good value for the money.
The location, the comfort
WE are a mature couple, over sixty, and when I took the promotion I thought we would be given a different room ... although it was very comfortable, we would have preferred one with a balcony, where we could sit and admire the view, not a small one on the top floor with a small window ... I feel we believed in somewhat misleading advertising !!!
- The hotel is located in the most beautiful place with stunning views over Geres national park. - It's a top-nodge hotel with great rooms and staff.
- Rediculously over-priced restaurant. It's fancy but they are making the most of the fact that there are no other options nearby, skinning the guest with priced unheard of in Portugal.
Magnificent site. Good evening meal. friendly staff (including the ginger tom-cat).
Breakfast. Came out on a tray, all pre-packed. Looked as if it had been prepared by night staff before they left. Menu suggested various other things were on offer, but by this time the table staff had all vanished, and there was no-one to ask. Such a let-down.
Stunning location, well appointed rooms with all modern amenities in the new rooms. Older rooms still look great just a little smaller.
The view over the valley
Restaurant is a bit to expensive, interrieur is outdated, room small and it is a little bit dark
The wonderful view from our bedroom and in the main rooms. The old fashioned atmosphere of tranquility; the cleanliness was marvellous and our rooms were always done very quickly and freshly. The staff were always friendly and smiling and helpful.
I had a poor lasagne which was luke warm and as if it had been served earlier.
Beautiful hotel, and we loved the casual lodge-like feel. The rooms are not fancy but cozy, clean and the beds and showers were great. I slept like a baby here. Definitely upgrade to a room with the balcony and dam view. Stunning and worth the money. Save your dinner leftovers for the hotel's resident cats. There are two that were supposedly dumped there outside and they are sweet as can be, especially the orange one. This location was phenomenal for exploring the northern region...by far the most beautiful part of Portugal and very close to The Douro wine region and Geres National Park. Dinner and breakfast was very good. I would highly recommend a stay here. We loved it and were sad to leave.
The bar was often unstaffed and we would have to find someone to wait on us. Could also use waitstaff by the pool.
The view. The pool. Good breakfast, apart from the coffee. Comfortable room, if a bit smaller than we expected. Friendly staff. Good terrace.
Not worth the money. The building itself is nothing special and the rooms are unremarkable. I am sure you could find somewhere with a similar view for much less money. Restaurant menu looked good but overpriced, so we went out.
The lake view was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable.
There is no room service, you can not order food to take up to your room. Do not come here hungry late at night, there is nothing nearby to eat.
The view was amazing. However as it is so high we were in cloud for about half the time we were there in August. We enjoyed the pool which is a good size. I don't think it is heated but certainly warm enough to swim in the rain.
The food in the restaurant was rather hit and miss. Many dishes seemed to include turmeric! When a veal steak arrived practically raw , we asked for it to be cooked a little longer. The waiter returned the dish without a word and plonked in down on the table but despite this the dish was very tasty
The fact they allowed children.
Location, room, friendliness of staff, excellent reception
Thought restaurant food could be better, though acceptable except for the machine coffee at breakfast was awful!
Room is clean, cozy & comfy with nice view ( room 209) Food is good and fairly priced for hotel
Only 1 bartender at one time to man quite a big area. Quite difficult to reach him/ her. Short of staff at restaurant. If only hotel can provide additional 1 more waiter, we may have better dining experince.
