We stayed at Quinta da Mata for one day while visiting the town of Chaves. We were welcomed by the owner who was friendly and very personable. He recommended a few places both nearby and in Chaves for dinner. He was right on the mark with his recommendations. We were extremely impressed with the accommodations. The room had an old world charm that made you feel as if you were staying in the royal suite of a castle. We had a wonderful view of the valley from our window. The breakfast was great, the food just kept coming. The dining room and main sitting area were absolutely beautiful. We walked the grounds and noted that everything was perfectly manicured and quiet. Had we known how nice it was, we would have stayed another night. Definitely a place we would come back to spend a week just to relax and enjoy.

Le charme un peu désuet d'une vieille propriété; le jardin est agréable, mais le style de l'ensemble (surtout à l'intérieur) est plutôt austère, voire tristounet. L'accueil est chaleureux, comme cela semble la norme partout au Portugal! Les guides touristiques en rajoutent trop sur Chaves, beaucoup moins intéressantes à tous points de vue que Bragance ou Braga. Chaves peut mériter que l'on y passe, mais pas vraiment que l'on y séjourne.

Excellent accueil du propriétaire qui nous a lui-même emmené avec sa voiture dans un restaurant voisin le soir de notre arrivée, son équipe de cuisine n'étant plus de service. A la fin du repas le restaurateur lui a téléphoné pour qu'il vienne nous chercher. Nous avons bu le café ensemble et nous sommes retourné à la Quinta. C'est ça l'accueil au Portugal. Notre séjour de 3 semaines au Portugal a été jalonné de ces petits gestes amicaux.

A beautiful old manor house and charming host. It helps if you speak a little rench if not Portugeuse. Would stay again. We were unable to have dinner as it has to be booked in advance but a good restaurant was recommended up the road.

Super location in hills outside Chaves, with outstanding views. Friendly reception from the multilingual Linda who was very helpful in all regards. We chose the optional evening meal, served outside on the patio, which was good value for money. Good food, good wine, and good conversation with other current guests. Nothing.

Enchantement, avons passé un agréable moment en ce lieu magnifique. Un accueil chaleureux et une gentillesse de la part des propriétaires. Petit déjeuner très copieux et excellent.Il fait bon passer des vacances dans cette superbe région.

Sehr freundliche Begrüßung durch den Eigentümer mit einem Glas Portwein und Kuchen. Sehr schönes und geräumiges Zimmer, extra Körbchen für den Hund. Obwohl wir die einzigen Gäste waren gab es nur für uns ein Abendessen mit Spezialitäten und Wein der Region. Umfangreiches Frühstück, frisch zubereitet. Aus unserer Sicht ein hervorragendes Preis/leistungsverhältnis.
