This was the most delightful stay on our trip. We actually got to stay in a castle w/o the huge ($500+/nt.) fees of a parador. The gardens are extensive, gorgeous, and have a romantic story attached. Close enough to walk to town, which has an outlet for the famous, hand-painted pottery of Portugal. |

Beautifull large rooms. The garden room has a private garden. Indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, massages, golf course. Very relaxing and enjoyable. - |

Staff disinterested, food extortionate with no alternative menu. Sandwiches 12 euros. Breakfast poor with cold water to make tea! Shabby at edges. |

Great restaurant, easy parking, access a little difficult when we were there due to roadworks. Easy walk to the old town. |

Quiet position, not too far from city across a pedestrian bridge. Excellent public rooms with nice self-service bar in the music room. Good food with perfect service in a rather spartan restaurant. The Garden Bedroom was damp. The large modern brutalist extension to the old house has created a holiday-camp atmosphere, particularly in the breakfast room. |

Rooms and general accomodation excellent, spacious, stylish, excellent location, friendly and efficient staff, decoration of the rooms comparable with leading hotels worldwide (think Plaza Athénée, Lancaster, Blakes), outstanding room service (small in-room meals top), excellent pool, nice gardens ... No-one seems to be much interested in the hotel fitness/work-out area: everything is there but not taken care of, pity. |

Excellent public areas such as reading room/lounge/bar.- Restaurant did not have the champagne from the wine list on Xmas Eve...Taittinger.A Michelin star establishment should do better. No log fire in the main lounge over Xmas, would have improved the Xmas atmosphere. |

The attractiveness and good facilities in the bedroom. Good quality buffet breakfast. Quiet location within walking distance (or free parking for the less energetic) Poor signage in the immediate vicinity to find vehicular access to the hotel. Restaurant prices above that which most tourists wish to pay. |

Room decor and cleanliness excellent. Own garden area too! Poor bathroom compared to standard of room and hotel. Unpleasant smell on entering the reception area which was there both days. Smelt like dog pee, sorry. |

Everything was good in "Quinta das Lágrimas" and in particular the restaurant (Arcadas). Its chef fully deserves his Michelin star. |

Everything was top quality from arrival at breakfast, the friendliness of the staff, the excellent health spa, the large golf range and the tranquil environment. The hotel had an excellent golf facility but the equipment available at the hotel was not up to the expected standard. I would have thought that better golf clubs would have been available for the golfer who has not travelled with equipment. |

Oozes an atmoshere of history and luxury. Great pool. Stayed in the Spa room which was absolutely satisfactory. Most of the staff were very friendly and professional... ... and some weren'T. The problem with some top hotels is that staff can occasionally get a bit arrogant and complacent. Unfortunately this hotel was no exception. The garden was a joke. |

Beautiful hotel. Breakfast was impressive. Location ideal for walking into the old town centre. Very busy location. Not as isolated as I expected. Construction work on the grounds was a bit distracting. |
