Large room and comfortable accommodations with all the special touches you would expect from a palace. Staff was particularly attentive and helpful. Dinner was good but maybe not up to a Michelin star. Best breakfast we had in Portugal. Hard to find; need better directions. |

All was nearly perfect Flies - nasty flies at the outdoor pool. But also inside, at the breakfast room - that is not acceptable. |

The hotel is situated in a wonderful park with very impressive trees. As the palace room we had booked wasn't available we were upgraded to a palace suite in the basement which was a bit damp. The diner is very sophisticated, though a bit formal. The private garden which belonged to the suite was noisy and so not really usable. - The hotel is very difficult to find. |

This was about the 5th time we stayed at the Quinta das Lagrimas. Its a very romantic and also historic place, as it is connected to the love of Dom Pedro and Ines de Castro (she was actually killed here). The Michelin Starred restaurant Arcadas da Capela would already be a sufficient reason to come here, but the friendly staff, comfortable rooms, a nice swimming pool and the wonderful gardens with the "fountain of love" make it the ideal place for a romantic and relaxing getaway. |

In this extraordinary hotel the famous story of Inez and Dom Pedro took place in the 14th century. The romatic atmosphere is still present in the spacious palace rooms. Take a walk through the huge garden with a collection of extraordinary trees from all over the world. |

Layout of splendid historic and modern buildings & gardens. Dinner & breakfast. Restaurant is fine but a Michelin star? Not in my view. |

This was the most delightful stay on our trip. We actually got to stay in a castle w/o the huge ($500+/nt.) fees of a parador. The gardens are extensive, gorgeous, and have a romantic story attached. Close enough to walk to town, which has an outlet for the famous, hand-painted pottery of Portugal. |

Staff disinterested, food extortionate with no alternative menu. Sandwiches 12 euros. Breakfast poor with cold water to make tea! Shabby at edges. |

Great restaurant, easy parking, access a little difficult when we were there due to roadworks. Easy walk to the old town. |

Quiet position, not too far from city across a pedestrian bridge. Excellent public rooms with nice self-service bar in the music room. Good food with perfect service in a rather spartan restaurant. The Garden Bedroom was damp. The large modern brutalist extension to the old house has created a holiday-camp atmosphere, particularly in the breakfast room. |

Rooms and general accomodation excellent, spacious, stylish, excellent location, friendly and efficient staff, decoration of the rooms comparable with leading hotels worldwide (think Plaza Athénée, Lancaster, Blakes), outstanding room service (small in-room meals top), excellent pool, nice gardens ... No-one seems to be much interested in the hotel fitness/work-out area: everything is there but not taken care of, pity. |

Excellent public areas such as reading room/lounge/bar.- Restaurant did not have the champagne from the wine list on Xmas Eve...Taittinger.A Michelin star establishment should do better. No log fire in the main lounge over Xmas, would have improved the Xmas atmosphere. |

The attractiveness and good facilities in the bedroom. Good quality buffet breakfast. Quiet location within walking distance (or free parking for the less energetic) Poor signage in the immediate vicinity to find vehicular access to the hotel. Restaurant prices above that which most tourists wish to pay. |
