Score from 551 reviews Good
Situated in fantastic gardens, beautiful setting and blend of historic buildings and modern facilities. Restaurant excellent. Best of all, interested staff who did their best to make our stay memorable. Always appeared happy and interested.
No Wifi in bedrooms, only available at reception. Not sufficient for business travellers.
Excellent grounds and buildings with a history
WiFi was temperamental
Gardens Great Restaurant Beautiful hotel Good Breakfast included in hotel rate
Required a taxi to get into town
The room in the new area was very spacious, clean, confortable and quiet. Very good breakfast and dinner at Arcadas restaurant a very good experience. Different areas of the hotel including gardens excellent.
Internet hardly work in the room. Breakfast could have a larger selection of sweet things such as home made cakes/muffins.
The food and the gorgeous setting
Pleasant stroll in garden. Very good restaurant (ask to see menu first as it IS Michelin star and priced accordingly).
Beautiful view of gardens Wonderful staff Great breakfast Lovely spa
Far from town Pricey
Was our Honeymoon, and the hotel staff went out of their way to make it a special stay for us. They also sorted out tickets to a Fado club without issue. We will be going back.
The gardens incorporate an arboretum. Our bedroom had a private garden! The restaurant was excellent,as was breakfast.
Staff helped us find a room to meet our limited mobility need, even resorting to an upgrade. Staff was helpful and gracious . Restaurant was excellent, food , wine, staff, whole experience
Lovely building and public rooms, great pool area and gardens.
Very long walk from centre, ground floor room dark with poor lighting, expensive restaurant.
Location to town center is walkable. The bellman was quite cordial and efficient.
The male attendant checking us in was extremely rude and likely biased to Americans. We stayed in one of the palace suites. The rooms were dingy with the curtain hanging off the rod. The tub was very stained and mildewed almost uncleanly. The Turkish bath smelled worse than some of the worst locker rooms I have ever been in. The carpets very worn and dingy. I was awoken to a large spider crawling across my chest
Outside of the city
The peaceful, elegant, classic comfort.
extremely helpful reception guy who gave us some excellent advice about sightseeing and walking around Coimbra and the motorway south the next day, excellent food and service in the dining room and high quality breakfast buffet, complimentary drink a nice touch
Quinta das Lagrimas is a beautiful small palace with a wounderful garden.
Room number 15 is not at the level you would expect from this kind of hotels. The bed is too soft and old and the rest, including bath, needs some seriouse ubgrading work.
The memories I had from a previous stay 13 years ago
Decrepit, carpets in the room corridors are old and out fashioned. Curtains in my room were unhooked and falling. Bathroom looking old and not very clean in the sense that all the china is old and it looks dirty. Bathroom shower unacceptable on a 4 star hotel, it is a hand shower that you must hook on top and water goes all over except on you. Wall paintings in the corridors are ridiculous for a place like this. Red hearts are funny at a fair and on Valentine's day, not in a hotel that is supposed to be a palace. Very poor WiFi, constantly loosing a very slow and bad connection in the rare moments I managed to get it in my room.
The venue, an old palace with splendid public rooms, the gardens and swimming pool. In short the facilities.
The room, small and low, no view, no Wifi and with an uncorfortable and outdated bathroom
Lovely mature gardens
The restaurant, spa and facilities were excellent. The staff and attention to detail could not be faulted. We would highly recommend this hotel to fellow travellers.
We loved staying Hotel Quinta das Lagrimas! Superb surroundings, just a 15 minute walk across the bridge to the heart of Coimbra, the cafés, tourist centre, banks, your buses and river cruise are all situated around the square. Beautiful gardens to enjoy. Fantastic food; lovely breakfast with variety of choices, wonderful lunchtime menu with interesting twists and a superb evening meal. Had we followed previous reviews with regard to the evening meal we would not have enjoyed one of the most memorable menus of our lives. Yes, it is very expensive (50 euros per head) but you get what you pay for in 5 star service and a real culinary experience. We chose the Chef's summer menu and highly recommend it.
Laundry was expensive and ironing charged separately. It was delivered late in the evening so went straight into our bags, meaning that I missed that one of my tops was badly marked. Disappointing.
Friendly staff. Big parking. Not too far from the city. Nice room (38) with small private garden. Large garden (more a park with woods). Delicious food (ex Michelin star). Personnel speaks perfect english.Good Wi-Fi.
A bit in decline. Ex-Michelin star/ex-member of Relais@Chateaux. Needs tidying up.
Spacious rooms Plethora of reception rooms and air of faded elegance. The food and wine. Smoking was allowed in the gallery. The gardens. The touching history and overall atmosphere.
Both the pianos were out of tune!
Nice old main house. Swimming pool overlooking the nature Complete breakfast
Dusty, dirty rooms in the modern part. Mini bar not checked: a wine bottle already opened and consumed by previous clients. Absolutely not small luxury hotel (SLH) even for 155€/ night...
The location is good
Service at the reception unsatisfactory The information about restaurant was wrong
