Campo Maior, the nearest town to the Quinta joins the influences of both cultures, Portuguese and Spanish, in a mysterious atmosphere and that makes spending a holiday at the Quinta most appealing. The Quinta is situated in a magnificent manor house but it disposes of nowadays comfort. The setting is ancient, the welcome natural and warm.
The main house is a manor house that appears in 17th century registers.
It has 2 flats and a tower with a magnificent view over the plain and neighbouring towns.
In the ground-floor there’s the family house and a chapel.
On the 1st floor there are well-equipped, finely decorated bedrooms for guests.
The beauty of Campo Maior lays in its urban structure but also in the richness of its architecture, its white washed houses.
The beauty of Quinta dos Avós we can resume:
An Oasis in Alentejo. Let’s say some words about its people’s traditions now. The popular Flowers Festival is the result of the combined efforts of the whole population. Once or twice in a decade the town is covered with paper flowers that seem so real… you have to touch them to know they are just paper. During a whole week people sing and dance at the sound of the castanets all night long!
The restaurant serves typical Alentejo food. The dining-room is in an old kitchen with a fireplace and is air-conditioned.
Try our specialties with pork, coriander, asparagus, cod fish, beans and chickpeas…
On the 1st floor there are well-equipped, finely decorated bedrooms for guests offering comfort and modern amenities.
The hotel's centre has a big lounge, accessible from the main entrance and from the swimming-pool and the restaurant.
Casa Alentejana
In front of the manor house there’s a typical Alentejo house. It has a living room with a fireplace, 2 bedrooms with bathroom, air conditioning, telephone, television.
It’s situated in the Eastern part of Portugal, near the border with Spain
Being truly Portuguese, but with a Spanish influence, it has a particular charm.
It’s near Elvas and its aqueduct.
It’s near Badajoz, the biggest economic centre in the region.
It’s near Portalegre, the province capital town.
It’s near the Caia dam and its artificial lake.
It’s near Ouguela and its castle.
The region is rich in celtic and roman ruins.
The Quinta is seven minutes away from the highway Lisbon Madrid.
