Quinta Mirabela - Design Hotel  

Très belle vue sur Funchal depuis la terrasse et les chambres. L'accueil est chaleureux et possible en français. Bonne cuisine ; bon et copieux petit déjeuner. Situation calme. Espace détente bien équipé (sauna, spa, bain turc, salle de sport, billard)

Hôtel difficile à trouver, mais les coordonnées gps sont correctes sur le site booking : heureusement ! Pas de piscine intérieure et la piscine extérieure reste fraiche même au mois de mai. La literie est décevante pour un hôtel de ce standing. Le service du restaurant est très long, même si les plats sont bons.

Hôtel très design, personnel très prévenant et toujours souriant, services au top et personnalisés, au calme, vue magnifique...

Nous n'avons pas apprécié de devoir partir si vite !!!

Room 106/107 must be the worst rooms of the hotel (minimal view, no privacy had to keep the curtains always closed because people at the restaurant can look in you room, you can hear the plates from the restaurant and kitchen next door). Lack of pest control as we encountered 3 cockroaches in our room the last 2 days of our stay, management offered us a bottle of Sparkling wine (a nice touch and I did appreciated it.. But still saw cockroaches). Very slow service at the restaurant. A 5 star waiter should know that a lady should always be served first and not the gentleman. Lack of variety at breakfast, tin fruits for breakfast. Do not be put off, this is a very good hotel, very comfortable with alot of potential... All am trying to say is that a 5 star hotel should be 5 star all the way, rooms, breakfast, standard and training of staff restaurant menu and other service they may offer a 5 star hotel should pamper its guest.

Excellent quality of facilities, with spa, marvellous outside terraces, free mini-bus service, etc. Location is 2km above downtown, providing great views of the ocean, and real feel of the city. Winter pricing for B&B was perfect !

No wireless Internet access, nor room Internet access is poor. Winter staffing level was low, frequently had to hunt for staff at breakfast, just to get coffee and food refresh.

The Quinta Mirabela is positioned on the Caminho do Monte, which is the steep mountain road famous for the wicker toboggan rides (you can see them sliding past). Its location is kind of a double-edged sword. The views are beautiful - very inspiring and relaxing, especially on the terrace with a drink in hand. However, the road is so steep that most people would be exhausted trying to walk it (just as me and my friend were), especially with luggage. Buses do come, but a little local knowledge is needed to decipher the timetables. The hotel also puts on a courtesy bus during weekdays. Taxis are fine, but the drivers will hike the price if the booking is made from a five star hotel. The hotel itself is immaculate and stylish. Very quiet and comfortable, with well presented, polite staff. Breakfast is decent and fresh with hot options cooked to order. The spa facilities are excellent and the pool is big enough for a swim, followed quickly by a sauna and a steam. Rooms are classy, if a little snug, in the main building. Food in the restaurant is tasty, nicely prepared and good value. The views add to the experience. Also - go for the cocktail of the day. This is always tasty and 3 Euros. There is a BOGOF happy hour daily until 6pm too. Off-season prices at the Quinta Mirabela are very reasonable and overall it's worth the climb to get there!

Very little to dislike. They bill you 250 Euros if you lose the b&o remote for your tv, so keep it in the safe while out and about. Non-balcony rooms are a little snug, and the windows aren't huge, but this is more down to the 200 year old building than anything else. The courtesy bus doesn't run at weekends, which is a shame. Taxis to the main avenue vary between 8 and 14 Euros.

This is an exceptional (5 star) hotel for the price. With only about 24 rooms the service is very personal and of a high standard. I understand the manager has in the past worked at Reids hotel in Madeira - and it shows. The design and fitting out of the building is exceptional - I say this as a qualified Chartered Architect. The location up in the hills adds a certain exclusivity over and above the vast swathe of hotels along the coast and offers relatively easy access to Funchal. Hard to beat in my view.

The pool is lovely, but not heated.

The room with rhe most amazing view I have ever seen in a hotel bedroom. also watching the baskets coming past the hotel.The front of desk staff were charming and most helpful..

Service was very slow and the bar was not open by the pool I think that the season had not quite started, the pool was very very cold. Sometimes difficult to find anyone to serve you not really 5* service.

Great location with panoramic views of Funchal and the bay. Excellent choice of terraces to enjoy these views. Interesting hotel.

Due to the relative distance to the town centre we should have appreciated more frequent transports with hotel coaches.

O staff era maravilhoso sempre disponível. A localização é magnifica sobre o Funchal, mas é necessário ter carro pois fica longe do Funchal. O restaurante simplesmente soberbo.
