Very nice view to the sea in my room. Friendly and helpful staff. They even have a nice swimming pool!! For such a price 45/euro pernight, the hotel is excellent. Not easily accessible. You have to climb a very deep slope to get the hotel. Some dogs are buff in the evening for unknown reasons.... |

Excellent view from balcony ( recommend room 207), nice staff, swimming pool and terrace. Very pleasant hotel - small and friendly -out of the main tourist areas . Steep uphill walk but get used to this after 2 days. |

Perfect location in town of Funchal, in a nice and quite neighbourhood. Close to center (10 minutes walk) and close to motorway. Safe, free parking in the street or at hotel. Much better than staying in Funchal's hotel area!! Great room. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast! Great value for money. No complaints at all. Choose this one! |

Nice and quiet, staff helpful and friendly. Relaxing atmosphere in local environment away from main tourist area. Excellent value. Situated on a very steep hill. Not suitable for older or unfit guests . |

Nice view to the sea. No heating, blankets and covers not warm enough. In case of bad whether hotel gave us an electric heater, but it was very noisy and cannot be used during the night. Oil heater was not available. |

Clean room, friendly and flexible staff, nice views, nice cafe, good breakfast They could serve something simple to eat at their beautiful cafe. A simple lunch menu and pastries instead of just peanuts would make it perfect. |

We got to the hotel on Sunday where we were greeted by a none english steaking owner who we felt was not welcoming in any way although we where offered a choice of rooms. On Monday the english speaking receptionist came on duty and made things more imformative for us. To call this hotel a friendly family run is a little far from the truth if you are not a local, it was as much as we could do to get a good morning and a smile wouldn,t have gone a miss. Little to say we will not be going back to this hotel. |

Michaela comes in most days, speaks perfect English & is a mine of info. All staff though are brilliant. Eating suggestion: try Restaurante Tropicano at 43, Rua D Carlos Old Town. Delicious Madeiran fare at good prices. Staff excellent fun as well, especially Victor & Peter. Warning: Mosquitos have arrived in Funchal albeit only in recent times so bring the necessary repellants! The steep climb back to this hotel can be arduous so I would suggest aquainting yourselves with the No 22 bus fairly swiftly. This stops two streets above the hotel.Even more important with a full stomach !! |
