Residencial Castromira  

I stayed in a single room for two nights. It is basic and functional with a shower in the room and two toilets and washing sinks just opposite my room. It is very clean and the staff make the beds every day.She is very helpful and nice. It is near the centre-a straight street to the square about 10 minutes' walk. A bus stop and the metro station is just out of the door. After all, it is a great value based on the money I paid.

The wall is thin, and I can hear my neighbor's talking.

Good location - close to the center of Lisbon, a few meters to the nearest metro station, fairly good prices, nice view from the window.

When I was in Residencial Castomira (end of December) in the room it was really cold in the night. There were no heating. We received 3 blankets for each person, but for other people it can be a problem. Anyway, I think that lack of heating is common in all Portugal as it's rather warm country, so it doesn't pay to invest money for heating when there are only a few cold days in a year.

Lovely receptionist (Portuguese and Brazilian), clean rooms everyday, clean shared toilets, quiet, rooms are comfortable to stay 2-3 nights, within walking distance to the city (15 mins) and a cheap 7 Euro taxi ride on the same street to the airport. A great Sushi restaurant down the road called Tao - all you can eat sushi buffet for under 10 Euro lunch and dinner and cheap drinks!

Perhaps a bit far out of town if you do not enjoy walking and exploring

I do not like it. Every night, did not want to go back to the hotel.

Hotel - terrible. An unpleasant smell in the room. Very poor sound insulation. Staff in general does not speak in English. The rooms do not even have chairs, only one bed.

The hotel personnel was really friendly !

When we arrived there was some trouble with our room, they said that someone had broken the toilet and stuff the day before so that the room had to be repaired before someone could use it, but we got 2 new rooms for a lower price so it was ok:)

AC didn't work.

Extremely close to the metro station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Doesnt have an elevator, but the staff was able to help us staying in the partner hotel right across the street. Which was better, recently renovated, all new, great facilities and staff.

No room for preparing the meals.

The place was quite close to the metro station with affordable restos nearby as long as you aren't looking for gourmet food. They have rotating staff members for the front desk- but not all of them are knowledgable about where to go and how to get there- fortunately residencia sol (another sister hostel) that have a friendly and english speaking front desk. The hostel is very clean and neat and some rooms have satellite tv, also the bathrooms are clean. Worth the price- of course. Just remember its a hostel not a hotel.

Nice staff. I had to catch a flight early morning and they arranged for a taxi early morning.

The location is great- 2minutes from metro station, 20min walk from the main square and big shopping street; next to the hotel there is a cafe and a 24 hours shop. The staff was kind and helping, although not good speaking english - they helped us with calling a taxi early in the morning, helped us with the suitcases on the stairs. The room was clean- they've cleaned it every day.

The room was very small- I mean there was almost no space between beds and wall ( but well- it was OK for us ). Another thing is that our room was with street-look, so at night it was extremely noisy from the trams and cars outside- you should put your ear-plugs in order to get some sleep. And the stairs were small and high- it is very hard when carrying suitcases.
