It was great value for money and very comfortable.

Good location. It was close to the metro and easy to find. We actually were in their apartments next door, and we had a great room with a balcony and huge windows and a wonderful view. The staff was very nice and helpful. It also was a great price for what we got.

Even though they said they accepted credit cards, but their machine wasn't working.

The hostel has clean rooms, some of the staff is really good and helpfull, but the others are really not motivated and lazy. (Be carefull for the guy who sits during night :))

The rooms were very small, without even 1 chair. It takes ages to ask some of the staff to book a simple & popular excursion. The hostel is quiet far from the nearest metro station (15 minutes walking). There are no cafes/bars around this area either. When you come back during night from the city center, it makes more sense to take a taxi (5 - 6 Euro)

The Residencial Mar dos Acores worths the flight, very good place for a reasonable price.

value for money is good，and it is easy to find bus station outside of this hostel. the double room with separate toilet and bathroom is relative small，but think of the price，it can be acceptable. the staff is helpful and can speak good English.

1. when you sleep in the room at the bottom floor，you cannot live your window open all night. If you close your window,maybe feel you wet and stuffty. 2. when we took a bath, the corner of the wall has a little seekage.

You get what it says on the website. This place is really cheap and it has a 24h reception. Staff is very friendly.

Take your alergy pills if you are sensitive to damp/old blankets etc. It looks like a city-wise issue though.

I had a whole apartment for myself for a very low price and the most important was having a fully equipped kitchen as I suffer from food allergies so tend to make my own food. It was a good location close to main points of interest.

The apartment was situated in a normal house where locals lived so I could hear washing machine working at midnight and other household noises etc. That should be made clear on their website. I thought they had a whole house of rooms and apartments to rent for holiday purpose. Would not expect my holiday accommodation to be at some block of flats. It was also very cold when I came, thank god there were electric heaters which I put on max immediately. The place could have been cleaned better. Also the staff was rather indifferent. Luckily the price was low so it made up for that.

I booked a room with a private bathroom in the hotel because we understood we only needed a place to sleep. The location was ok, not very far from the underground station and there were some good restaurants just round the corner.

But I the staff! We checked in late in the evening and the next day we went to explore the city early in the morning. When we got back in the evening our room had not been cleaned, even the beds were not made to say nothing about the waste basket. When I asked the receptionist if they cleaned the rooms at all, she confirmed they did every day. Then she said it was their mistake and she was sorry but it happened sometimes and I had to put up with it. She only emptied the waste basket. I was not offered to have a drink in the nearest bar for half an hour while the tidy the room - no. The y were not going to do anything about it. As they did not have laundry services I had to use a laundry nearby. But I did not draw attention to their working hours and could not pick up the things in time. I asked the staff in the hotel to help and told them to pay for the troubles, they refused flatly to do anything about it. They even did not care about giving advice. I asked the receptionist to call a manager and he said it was too early and he could not disturb her. That was amazingly childish of a person whose job is to care about the comfort of the guests. What I saw their was total neglect of the guest who paid for the stay. They just do not care at all. As a result I had to go to the police station in Santa Marta street, the policemen were much nicer - they contacted the owner of the laundry and she opened her shop for us. To sum it all up: I can not recommend the hotel. But I can recommend the police from Santa Marta street and the laundry in 99, Condo de Retonda street - really nice people.

Just plain excellent value for money. Had booked a double room with shared bathroom, and was given a double on the ground floor with my own ensuite bathroom (with shower), so even though the room only looked out onto a small interior ventilation-well, I couldn't complain. The room had everything you needed: a very comfortable bed, heater and dehumidifier, bed side table, small table with chairs, a small armoire to hang clothes, even a flat-screen tv. It was cramped inside the room but I didn't spend much time there. Most importantly, it was very quiet at night.

I would have preferred a different location, but Marques de Pompal is not a bad place to be based. As others have noted, there is a slight clorine/bleach smell the permeates the room and hotel, but it's not so overpowering to make your stay unpleasant. Doors to rooms function in a very strange way: doors can be opened from the outside if not locked, but from the inside you can only open the door if the key is inserted. I mentioned this to the front desk and they said this was normal!

Some troubles with paying; credit card not accepted due to machine break down, further receipt of cash payment not received but required later on... The security system of door keys making irritating sound...

It's hard to beat the price - very cheap and a good option for an over night stay. The apartment (for 4 people) was alot bigger than expected with living room, two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom, all for almost a fifth of the price of similar places nearby! Good option if you are looking to save money for a short stay.

It is in a safe but creepy neighborhood. The police station in just around the block, but prostitutes were just outside on the street most of the night and a couple drunk people were yelling and staggering around outside. The apartment itself is nice, but the outside of the building and the stairwell to get to the third floor apartment were scary looking. It probably would have been better if we would have checked in during sunlight :)

Nice and clean place. Good value for the money.

I've stayed there two times. Second time was good - we had nice room with balcony. For the first time we were given a room with all windows going to the dining-room. We need to have our windows closed all the time becouse everyone who was having lunch/breakfast could see us. And it was dark. If you want to stay there spacify you want to room with windows going to the street.

Location is awesome, staff is friendly and attentive.Room is simple but very decent for its price. One-two nights stay is ideal in this hotel.

KNo things that I didn't like

They took the fee from our card for not living there and tell us that there cardreader not working now so we have to pay cash....And we can wonder wy the country have bad economy.
