The lovely gardens, large rooms, great breakfast, helpful staff
Perfect location for hiking to the Moorish and Pena Castles on footpaths. wonderful breakfast and beautiful old building and gardens.
We loved our night's stay, even though we almost lost the car's mirrors coming through the gate. It was wonderful sitting by the wood fire in the evening in the same room that we had a beautiful breakfast the next morning. Our room was spacious with 4 metre high ceilings. Wonderful friendly, helpful staff. Don't miss walking in the beautiful garden as well. Great location to the sights of Sintra.
- good location: not far from the center, a lot of jogging possibilities - silent (at least at garden view rooms) - friendly stuff - fireplace and pool - secret garden Will get back there.
Remember that this is the old house. You can 'hear it'.
Fantastic well looked after garden with an outdoor swimming pool. Beautiful former Viscounts summer home. Stunning décor perfect for the style of the building and the era it is from. Has a massive terrace which will be fabulous in the sunshine gazing over the lovely garden over to the quirky and ancient town of Sintra. Amazingly huge rooms complete with seating area and little dinning table! Huge well equipped bathroom with lovely bath. Really comfortable bed. Really helpful and friendly staff. Loved it all a great escape from the hussle n bustle of Sintra. Huge breakfast room in typical Portugese style with a log fire great for Deember when we were here. Breakfast is terrific such choice and wonderful flavours. PS. Superb view of the Moorish Castle from our room.
Beautiful manor, amazing room, best staff ever! We stayed in 11 hotels during a 3-week period and this was definitely the best one.
Location was good and the hotel has a carpark, which is very useful considering how difficult it is to park in Sintra. Excellent to go exploring the Moors Castle and the Palacio de Pena and its park on foot. The room was huge and breakfast was good. Staff was very helpful.
If anything, needs a bit of updating but it has its charm all the same.
Rustic decoration fits with Sintra charm. Close to the historic centre with view for the mountain. A garden and a terrace where we can be outside with a blanket and a candle lamp or inside by the fireplace. The bed room is large and also the bed
2 matresses in a double bed for a couple doesnt work
We felt at home immediately. The staff could not be more welcoming, and was warm and helpful. Room was spacious, and charming, with great bathrooms. The morning breakfast was generous, of high quality and delicious. We highly recommend this great hotel.
Actually it was the most romantic hotel we were at out of 8 hotels we visited on our honey moon journey. Hotel must be even better in the summer since it has a pool in the garden. Breakfast is excellent.
I really enjoyed this hotel, with is really more like a B&B in a Victorian house well situated with a garden and swimming pool. Rooms while not modern are light and airy and spacious. Don’t expect the lap of luxury (it is rated as 2-stars, after all), but do expect the magic of Sintra. The location is good in some respects near the start of the walking path to the Moorish castle. The free and protected car park is worth a great deal in Sintra if you arrive by car, since parking and driving within Sintra is not trivial.
I’ve noted the location has some advantages, and is really special in some ways. The downside (as some other reviewers have noted) is that the walk along the road to any restaurants for dinner is perilous and unpleasant. Hopefully, the city governance of Sintra will do something to make the place more pedestrian friendly, since so many people come from around the world to walk here. In the meantime, exercise caution and maybe take a taxi to and from dinner.
Location.Secure parking.Period ambience of attractive 19c.building.Friendly staff who gave helpful advice.
Helpful staff, beautiful old home/now a hotel. Great breakfast and beautiful grounds. Stay here if you are looking for old world charm.
We loved the old building, staff was very friendly, everything was excellent
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely .
Bathroom was dated and bedroom decor old and tired .
The room was spacious, with a private bathroom and with beautiful views up to the moorish castle and over the hotel's garden. Staff were polite and helpful and the hotel had an old fashioned charm that a modern building just wouldn't have. The garden was attractive and had a pool. Near to local restaurants and Tapas bar at SanPedro, just up the hill for evening meals, but Sintra town, with with much choice was not far either.
Very little not to like!
Hospitality, Atmosphere, Walking distance to the main attractions.
That we couldn't stay longer.
big rooms, big bed. the place exudes charm. Perfect place to rest after exploring the Sintra
Location and staff were great as was the breakfast. Lovely gardens and pool.
could have done with air con or a fan in the room. no tea and coffee etc in room but was available if you went downstairs and paid for some.TV had only 4 channels, one German ,3 portugese.
Very pleasant hotel set in a beautiful setting, but could do with a make over . Set just outside the town , a bit of a hike in to town best taken through the park to avoid the traffic . Very helpful staff ,
Shower in the bath for an older traveller jus a little bit dangerous
the setting, beautiful gardens, lovely swimming pool
rooms a bit small, bathrooms dated
The room, the pool, the turtles
tranquilidad, entorno, ambiente
The breakfast was fabulous. The yard and gardens were very beautiful. We dined twice on the outdoor terrace, a pleasant experience.
Great location. Great swimming pool. Very helpful staff.
Getting into and out of the car parking area was extremely tight. I would not like to have had a bigger car than a Renault Clio.
