The location of the Sol e Mar was perfect, on the beach but could also walk into town for restaurants, entertainment and shopping. The staff was excellent, very friendly, professional, and helpful. Hotel was immaculate and charming.

No bathroom amenities in this 4-star hotel. Old dirt in the room.

This was our second stay at the Sol e Mar, and we were not disapointed. Sure, the hotel is not as modern as one built within the past 5-10 years, but that doesn't matter. It is extremely clean, and couldn't be in a better location. We were not there to live in our hotel room, but rather to enjoy the town of Albufeira and southern Portugal. I cannot imagine getting a better hotel with a better location for a better price than that offered by the Sol e Mar. When we return to Albufeira, we will be staying at the Sol e Mar again.

Love Albufera 5th visit and second stay at Sol e Mar. Great location comfortable and clean.

Lack of beverage facillities in room and hotel in general unless dining room or bar was open.

The location is excellent! On one side, either down the steps or around the next street's hill, you're still literally 5mins from the old town square. While on the other side of the hotel you're right on the beach!!

The hotel is slightly dated but the rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. There are steps up to the hotel, but also you can go around the next street and up the hill or during the day take the hotel lift up at the beach cafe!

rooms very clean but basic not 4* food average but only had breakfast 41 steps from hotel to main area of town

i liked the food but felt it could improve in range. it in no way stopped me eating there and enjoying it.

This was our second stay at Sol e Mar, and once again found it was a great choice. Fantastic location on the Beach in the Old Town - close to bars and restaurants, but also quiet. Excellent bars (1 inside and 1 outside). Helpful Staff and very reasonable rates. One of my favourite hotels for value anywhere in Europe.

Top floor rooms have balconies that are less private than the rest, and also suffer a bit from the noise from the lift mechanism, but neither were a problem for us.

Prime location.

A full modernisation of the hotel is needed.

The postion, the staff, the cleaning of the bedrooms was excellent, the public areas were vey good

The furniture and bathroom really now needs updating and a coat of paint would not go a miss

Everything was excellent. This is our sixth year and we love it. Will be back next year.

Rooms are not very soundproof. Young couple coming back at 2pm talked for an hour and kept us awake.

Very old. Very used.

Receptie personeel niet attentief, restaurant personeel in het snackbar gedeelte heel onbeschoft. Ontbijtbuffet van allerbedroevenste kwaliteit.

The hotel must have been very nice when it gained awards in the late eighties.The decor in parts in stylish, now it's a bit tired. The staff are very helpful and efficient. The food is not great, but adequate. Fabulous position for beach, and the town.

The pool is terribly basic, so we didn't use it. The heating wasn't working in several rooms, and was needed in the winter months.
