The sympathy with local architecture and atmosphere. The original building with contemporary extension succeeded in giving a sense of place. Guest rooms had a good feeling of comfort and are well appointed. Other hotels on the coastal road have completely failed in their attempts to highlight the location, while the Talisman succeeds.

The restaurant was a little out of fashion, and better emphasis could be placed on the breakfast service. Self service of coffee from large thermos is not a good idea, fresh coffee should be served at table.

The hotel does not have reliable WiFi. It was working at the lobby only and even than not consistently. At this time & age it is expected to have good connection, as rule I do not stay at hotels without WiFi or at ones that charge money. I think this can be easily fixed. The location is a bit noisy but it is expected as it is located mid old town, the noise dies during night, was not an issue.

Very good service and friendly people. Good restaurant, I enjoyed prato do dia for lunch. Very comfortable room.

Restaurant: The chicken in the restaurant was too tough and drowning in the pasta. Not caompatible. Had to put the two pieces on another plate. The salad that came with the lulinhas was drowning in azeite, had to scoop it over on another plate.

A beautifully designed and appointed hotel with quality furnishings. Spotlessly clean. Very helpful efficient staff particularly on reception. Full English and Continental breakfast included. From the plane landing it took 45 minutes before we were entering our rooms (bedroom and sitting room). It can take 45 minutes to collect baggage at an airport elsewhere. The restaurant did an excellent all in buffet with wine on Fri and Sat for 17 euros. A la carte meals on other nights a bit disappointing despite 15% resident discount. Recommended.

Our stay was suppose to be 5 nights. The room was so disguising that we checked out the next day. The carpeting was all stained, the air- conditioning wasn't working, the room smelled musty and there was mold all over the walls and wood trim. The staff was very kind and helped us find another hotel and they didn't charge of for the one night stay, however, I would not give this hotel 1 star.

Some of the rooms in the hotel were upgraded but the one we recieved for a 6 days stay, while the hotel ws not full and we booked well inadvance on booking.com. was not one of those with upgrades. The furnishings were tired and the carpet dirty. Other rooms had been ugraded tohardwood floors. The beds were not suitable for a hotel of this caliber and casued serious back problems for us which greatly deminished the quality of our holiday.

The hotel was situated in the city centre, with shops and cafes on the doorstep and the harbour within 10-15 minutes walking distance. The hotel had a rooftop area with decking which was ideal for a relaxing hour on the sunbed and there was also a small pool and gym. Public rooms were nicely decorated with an art-deco style restaurant and a first floor lounge area. Reception staff were excellent and spoke fluent English and all of the other staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful and most spoke some English. Breakfasts were excellent and varied and in the evenings the restaurant buffet was good value. The Palm Terrace cafe outside was a popular and relaxing place to eat and drink. Our rooms were plain but nicely furnished. Double glazed french doors kept the city noise to a minimum. There was a mini fridge and kettle with herbal tea and sugar (take your own coffee and English t-bags and buy milk when you get there).

The only thing we didn't like was that the rooms sizes appear to be inconsistent. There were four of us and the hotel tried to be accommodating by giving us twin rooms next to each other. The problem was that one room was very small with air conditioning, a very large wardrobe but no drawer space, and the second room was about twice as big but with no air conditioning. However the bathrooms were modern, the beds were comfortable and these niggles seemed too trivial to request a change of room.

The people that work here are very friendly. And they can even volk trips for you like whale watching, jeep safari's and hiking. The hotel itself, the rooms and dinner and breakfast are well arranged. The location is perfect for discovering the island.

We stayed at the Talisman on 2 separate occasions for one night and had a v favourable impression. The design is really interesting and the location central. The swimming pool on the roof gives an excellent view of Ponta Delgada. The breakfast was varied. Guests get a discount at the restaurant, which we tried out - the food was tasty. Service was good; particular praise to the receptionist who was really friendly and helpful!

Strange tasting margaritas! The hot food at breakfast could be kept warmer. But overall, it is an excellent hotel.

The hotel is rated number one on trip advisor website right now. It is very clean but is a little outdated, but the cleaning staff are very professional and nice, and the rooms are spotless so the outdatedness doesn´t matter as much to us. The location is great. One of the reception attendees, a young brunette lady, was fantastic on her tourist sites recommendations. The other staff were okay. Rooftop pool and lounge with view of the city was fantastic.... Great for relaxing in the afternoon. Breakfast selection was pretty good.

The dinner buffet on the weekend night was mediocre, nothing fantastic.

Personnel aimable et accueillant, très professionnel. Chambres spacieuses. Situation en centre ville, à proximité des bars et restaurants, non loin du port. Hôtel magnifique, installé dans deux anciennes demeures reliées entre elles, alliant décoration traditionnelle de classe (dans les chambres, salons et bibliothèques) et design (dans sa partie reliant les deux immeubles). Très bon petit déjeuner et excellent restaurant à prix raisonnables.

La ubicacion es ideal en el centro antiguo y cerca de la Marina. Calles tipicas llena de cafes y con el espiritu de ponta delgada. Volveriamos, es un hotel con carisma y un desayuno tambien muy bueno

Los precios del bar son absurdos en relacion con el resto de precios en la isla.
