In Porto’s historic center, 325 ft from Avenida dos Aliados and the Metro station, this hotel has art déco-style interiors, a multilingual staff and a spacious terrace.
Score from 2129 reviews Very good
Located in the heart of Porto, the Hotel Mercure Porto Centro offers free Wi-Fi and a themed theater bar. The Sao Bento Train Station is just a 7-minute walk away.

Score from 1450 reviews Excellent
Location excellent Front desk staff very helpful
Privacy of bathroom very bad Dining room staff not friendly
geographical situation design restaurant Plateau (excellent!) cleanliness
wifi access in the room: poor pilates ball in fitness needed to be refilled. In spite of my request, nothing was done.
This hotel is right in Porto and handy to everything. Big room, wonderful bed and wonderful shower.........but
.....you can be trendy and be practical. Not ONE place in the huge shower to put toiletries except on the floor. Not ONE towel rail in the huge bathroom, hardy any lighting in the room to see by. The whole hotel is dark and gloomy - part of it's "gothic" theme I suppose. Safe in room is NOT bolted down and girl at front desk got quite annoyed when I asked about this. She said "no-one can get into your room and walk out with the safe." Well then, WHY is there a safe in the first place? Of course they can get in.....don't be rude to your customers please.
The bed is very comfortable!
The bathroom. You need to be able to fly to get into that bathtub and the water from the shower collects on the bathtub edge-cover and makes everything wet!
The restaurant Palco where we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner was excellent. Despite the crowded weekend service was very good. Staff is very helpful, have good recommendations and do everything to make you feel comfortable. The location is very convenient for touring the city. The interior design is modern and the decor totally captures theatre environment. Rooms (gallary room) are small but efficient. The shower was great, though.
There is not enough space to hang wet bath towels, although daily changing vomensated.
The design of the hotel - it was unique. It is truly a beautiful hotel, near the main train station and metro. The food was exquisite and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are very comfortable, air-conditioned and well sound-proofed.
The only reason why I rated the facilities as good rather than excellent was that the bath was dangerous for a small person. It was almost impossible to get out of it without slipping. Also, the shower water ran all along the side of the bath, soaking the towels and floor.
decor, location, staff
wi-fi strength in my room was poor
Great location for the city center, very nice and interesting design, very clean. Nice restaurants within the hotel and many other nice restaurants in the vicinity.
You have a see-threw toilet in the room! No matter how cool the design and the concept of the hotel could be, unless you are traveling alone it is horrible to go to the toilet. Staff is trained to be proactively helpful, but does it in a poor way - the doorman asked 5 times if he could park for me and then suggested I should park in the handicapped parking spot (just because I am a woman). When asked, receptionist alarmed us that we will pay a fine for the highway. She was nice to call authorities and ask everywhere and when they couldn't tell anything for sure, she still insisted that we needed to pay - after loosing time with this, we didn't have to pay anything.
Location, delicious breakfast, kinde people, cleans rooms.
Great Location, Breakfast and Staff.
Wifi very bad!! The room was facing the street which makes it very noisy. Very Dark - The hotel is intolerably dark and gloomy. Needs a few lights. wouldn't recommend for people with poor eye sight.
the staff, the room, the hotel concept brought to the smallest details, the diversity and quality of breakfast but most of all the fact that they sent champagne and sweets to my room as I have spent my birthday there
bit to dark inside :)
Excellent location Stylish space Lovely breakfast
WiFi is very poor
Everything: very friendly and helpful staff. Design of the hotel (never seen anything like this before). Right in the middle of Porto. Parking available (payable). Highly recommended. Good restaurant.
Really nothing to fault. Maybe a bit dark when you come from outside.
The staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel is very good located near the center of the city.
The value for money of the hotel should be better.Porto is a city with low prices in food, transportation etc. while Teatro was rather expensive if you consider the above.
Everything was fine. Location, funny design, bar, breakfast-everything was good
Design is little bit too much. Way too dark. If you go for a romantic trip, toilet with a clear glass door could be a problem:))
loved the location, the breakfast, the staff
Location , Champagne at breakfast ,very helpful , friendly staff , the receptionist left his place and walked me 100 meters out of the hotel to show me the way . parking facility , bag storage for 3 days knowing that I was not returning to the same hotel .
The iron door of the hotel , the darkness, lack of privacy for bathroom, no dresser , the window facing a dummy wall of an inner court , very expensive for nothing . weak ac ,poor tv , poor Wi Fi .
A very designed hotel. Very special with the theatre theme. We liked it, but we think it can be a little too dark for persons with disabled sight. Excellent breakfast. Nice bar with small dishes. Outstanding staff. Friendly and helpful. Parking garage downstairs.
The decor, the location, the breakfast (with champagne), the welcome Port, the valet parking
The wifi quality, the noise from the street
Friendly staff and perfect location
Wifi very bad, room is small, malfunctionned window and the room was facing the street which makes it very noisy.
Great location! The room itself was nice and the free included breakfast was good. Would recommend this hotel to others.
location, breakfast, rooms very nice, staff was very helpful
The location breakfast the hotel bar the complimentary drinks and late check-out offered as we were on honeymoon
windows in the bedrooms could not be opened poor ventilation in the bathroom
The concept is magnificent everything's is like you are in the theatre , location is good , staff brilliant, with a Michelin star restaurant, great!!!
Our room didn't have a working electrical contact for our ipad or phones but the blow dryer worked!!, so we had to charge our appliances down stairs, Internet was slow, the breakfast could do with a bit more variety.
