Reasonably good value for money. I would recommend taking a room with the view on the valley - the view is spectacular and since the valley ends at the ocean ca. 10 km from the hotel, you should normally see the Atlantic from your windows. Worth the additional price. Restaurant is cosy and offers good food. The hotel service is friendly and helpful. No free wi-fi - it is really a must these days. The price requested for payable wi-fi is appalling. Some rooms which are now non-smoking used to be smoking rooms in the past, presumably for many years, so you could still feel this characteristic smell of nicotine in there. These rooms require some refurbishment to get rid of the smell.

Location is perfect We had asked for an extra bed in our room but it was not in when we arrived late at night. The nice receptionist was all alone and looked for it for a long time. This hotel is very old and needs a great deal of money invested in renovations.

I stayed in this hotel once a week for six months in late 2010 to spring 2011. Nothing has changed apart from the exorbent charge for wifi. 15 Euros for 12 hours. Previously this was complimentary. The scrambeld eggs are still full of water. The furniture in the bar area really needs refurbishment/replacement and while I appreciate it is the quiet time of year they should really consider closing the bar if they cannot afford to staff it. Standing waiting for 10 mnutes for an attendant while the receptionist looks at you and eventually advise he will call after you have had to ask him is not 4 star service. In brief this hotels standards have dropped dramatically.

Incredible location to see the major sites in Sintra- the National Palace is across the street, the Pena Palace is so close by ....nice array of shopping, lovely, cozy area....could not have been a better place to stay to see the sites! Great view of the surrounding area. So relaxing.

The location is good for visiting Sintra. The valley view is amazing. Interiors are nice and breakfast is good. Quite pricey. Parking might be tricky.

Beautiful and quiet, excellent location, beautiful views, clean and its classic form Good if you're with friends or family Acceptable price Hot and annoying the AC, there is no Internet in the rooms and in the lobby, just an old computer and a rickety call it Business Center, there is free Wi-Fi in the lobby and in the rooms, but very expensive price

The room had tall ceilings with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a beautiful street. I booked a double room with a valley view (upgrade) and I'm not sure that's what we received (even after I inquired about it at check-in because my room card sleeve said "single room"). The room was a on the 2nd floor and had a view of the street at about roof level, but not much of a valley view.

The young woman who first greeted us at reception was particularly helpful in suggesting itineraries, including bus information, and again on how to get most directly to the airport on our return. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff there worked very hard to keep everything running very smoothly. We enjoyed the one dinner we had at the hotel. The location of the hotel is superb, especially when viewed from the spectacular battlements of the Moorish castle. Our time in Sintra made a relaxed but stimulating contrast to our fascinating days in Lisbon combined with a conference presentation. Well, the poor tv reception on English-speaking channels, but this gave us some respite too and I imagine is in no way the fault of the hotel. And I would have liked free access to the internet on my own computer in my room, but again, I enjoyed a holiday from email and other work activities.

An excellent location, we paid an extra 10 euro and enjoyed the view of the valley and up to the Moorish Castle. A lovely little balcony where we had our evening picnic. The staff were lovely, and free car parking. Would totally recommend this hotel to everyone else

The view and it's central location in Sintra To be honest, I struggled to think of anything good about the hotel apart from the view. The staff were incredibly surly and unfriendly. The breakfast was awful - the fruit salad had been left out so long it was brown. The hotel is extremely expensive for what it provides and they wanted to charge eur 4 per hour to use wifi in the lobby - a rip off considering roaming is £2 a day. The hotel claims to be 4 star and is at best a 2 star. Extremely expensive for what it is.

The location was good in that it was convenient to walk to restaurants and cafes. It was very difficult to find and parking was impossible most of the time. The hotel garage was not controlled properly by the hotel in that cars were parked over 2 spaces making it impossible to park. We had to park in the street at first and then when a spot was available the staff did not inform us even after we had complained. We found the staff were not particularly helpful they did not know the times of buses and trains and had a rude attitude. The hotel was very tatty and tired looking and badly needs painting outside and inside. The Internet Business centre was simply the hotel computer which some guests used all of the time and again this was not monitored by the hotel staff causing frustration for guests. We couldn't use our own without paying a €10 fee.

Varied and well-stocked buffet for breakfast. The room was pretty big and had its own balcony. There was this highly annoying hum at night (which is a problem if you need complete stillness to sleep).
