The Hotel is really pretty, with a modern design. The breakfast is good and has a lot of variety They gave us a bad room without view to the river. Don't forget to ask for one.

Infrastructure, breakfast is good considering Portuguese standards. Length of bed, I'm 1,81m and my feet were out of the bed. Car parking access is terrible.

The room was very spacious, modern and very tastefully decorated. It was a lovely color scheme. The breakfast was excellent, really very very good. A large amount of choice and all well done. The receptionist who greeted us was so friendly and helpful with a wonderful smile and manner. Even as a guest in the hotel, we had to pay an 11 euro supplement to use the gym/pool. I felt this was two much and it should be included in the cost of the room. The internet in the lobby was free, but you had to pay for the wifi in the bedroom. I have stayed in many hotels of a similar calibre and price range, where both pool/gym and internet is included in the cost of the room. These additional costs would deter me from staying there again.

Vila Gale is a modern, clean bright and stylish hotel. When we stayed there was a business group, a coach tour and various family groups. However despite being busy the hotel still felt calm and the staff were efficient and friendly at all times. We had a slight problem with some noise from the air condition unit. And at times could hear the TV from the next room.

The spacious room we had was amazing especially with a young child. Very good value for money The scrambled eggs at the buffet were watery and I was not able to eat them, apart from that the breakfast was amazing and had plenty of variety.

The hotel is wonderful, the rooms are comfortable, the staff is very friendly and professional and the breakfast is just amazing. I stay there every time I go to Coimbra. I was in a hurry to go back to my room to pick up my wallet; as I walked into the elevator a guy walked out; he had pressed all the buttons before he left; took me forever to get to the 5th floor! That bastard...

The hotel was new and very nice. However, the first room we had had a big cigarette smell, as if the previous renters did smoke in it (even though it was on a non smoking floor). We asked for another room and then everything was okay. The outside pool was nice too. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and it was delicious. The hotel is a bit far from everything. It is a 15 minutes walk to get to the historic center (and not a so nice walk). I wouldn't recommend the hotel for somebody who would like to visit the city and be able to go back to the hotel during the day. also, we had the free mini-bar, free wi-fi and free parking deal which was abit dsapointing (there is a botlle of water and a beer in the mini-bar) and internet is only free downstair.

Breakfast was good. I was staying for three days and was happy to pay €7.50/day for parking. I was not happy to have to queue at reception for up to 20 minutes each time I wished to get my exit ticket validated. Why on earth can they not do a daily ticket or a ticket that's good for the duration of the stay? That would not be rocket science. Charging for broadband access is so 20th century!

No problem at all to provide glutenfree and lactosefree options for breakfast; we loved their own made jams (pumpkin, apple with grape an cinamon...). We booked a "superior" option, which we found out even included free parking and free minibar. A really large, beautiful outside pool; pool towels provided by the hotel. Free wifi in the reception area. Spaceous room with terrace and a nice view. 10 min walking distance from historical center. Unfortunately, we did not have time to explore all the facilities (bar with billard table, spa with indoor pool...). Staff very friendly, helpful and also fluent in English and Spanish.

It is a hotel with modern design and facilities. Service is good, food is good too. It has got an open swimming pool which is really nice, however, the indoor swimming pool and other facilities (gym, sauna) have a high price (optional) if you are staying just one night, as you do not have time to use it if you are sightseeing the city. We had a bit of a mess trying to get to the hotel with the gps, but reached it afterwards with no problem. It is close to the river and a fifteen minute walk to the Universidade at the top of the hill. There is not a lot of hotels to choose from, this one is a good choice. Surroundings, there were several buildings ruined and it made look a bit of a mess.

Not much. Pool was ok. On the website it came off as a boutiquey hotel and it is far from it. The rooms are fine, but this place is just a huge hotel. If you do plan on staying here, do not eat at the restaurant. Service was horrible and the food was even worse, not to mention way overpriced.

A modern hotel with parking in a town that probably does not have many of these. Good staff, good restaurant, easy walk into town. A bit noisy.
