Vila Maria

Vila Maria is a beautiful villa, set on a hillside, with lovely views over the valley and hills beyond. Luisa, our host, was warm and welcoming, and provided for our every need. Our room was very comfortable, the breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the location was perfect for exploring the area - or for just relaxing.

Luisa is a very welcoming and extremely nice host. Traveling is also about meeting people and this small b&b facilitates encounters and exchanges, with the host and other guests in a very friendly environment. Breakfast is outstanding.

I had such a relaxing stay in Vila Maria, it's a beautiful quiet place with comfortable rooms. It's an easy walk into the centre of Castelo de Vide which is such an amazingly scenic place. The owner was very kind to me and the breakfast was delicious. Like staying in a family home. (a tip- if you want to visit the hilltop church opposite castelo de vide, it's a stunning walk and much easier than it looks! follow one of the paths leading up from the main road) Adorei tudo! A minha estadia foi muito relaxante, obrigada D.Luisa pela sua hospitalidade e pelos bolos deliciosos!

It is a wonderful, wonderful place!

Fantastic customer service- Maria and family bent over backwards to see to our needs. Delicious homemade jams & bakes at breakfast. Maria's daughter ran us into town when the weather was particularly inclement.

A kettle in our room would be appreciated

maria is a very warm heart lady- upon arrival took us in her own car to a quick tour of the village to get our" bearings" and prepare our full-tour the next morning(because as she said the maps of the vilage were finished and the tourist information was already closed...) maria is a great cook-a great breakfast-the vila is amazing renovated place-fantastic \comfort\furnished rooms-great view from the windows the location is great. parking is in the inner area of the villa-guarded by the huge estrella mountain shepered dog named oscar-which is very friendly if you stay at his side of the walls of the villa-we fully recommend it to other travellers

We had a short ( only one night) but great stay at Vila Maria. Vila Maria is locate 10 min. Walk from the center of Castelo de Vide. Nice and clean room. Great breakfast! Louisa is very hospitable and friendly! Felt like staying at aunts place:) We tasted her own baked pastries and homemade liqueur. Loved it! Definitely recommending to stay there when you traveling to Castelo de Vide or Marvao.

Vila Maria was a beautiful villa just 2 minutes walk from the historic center of Castelo de Vide. Situated on a gorgeous property with lush rose gardens, Louisa, the caretaker, welcomed us with warm pastries, chicken pies, and more warmth than you can imagine. The villa and rooms were spotless. Water and treats were in the rooms for us, extra linens, anything and everything you'd want in a 5 star hotel, at the price of a hostel. The breakfast however takes the cake, literally. Chicken pies, charcuterie, cheeses, spreads, breads, juices, coffee, tea, and amazing pastries, all made by Louisa herself, who also sells to bakeries in town. All day the smell of golden dough wafted through the air. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Castelo de Vide. It was the nicest accomodation on our entire trip in Portugal. When we left, Louisa stuffed some pastries into a bag for us, along with local water from their glorious mineral springs (the town is famous for them), and gave us hugs goodbye. And this was after staying only 1 night!

I can not say anything bad about Vila Maria. I had even booked for the wrong date, and when turning up a day early as my mistake, she gladly accommodated us.

Em primeiro lugar, da proprietária: D.Luiza , simpatia em pessoa, nos deixa super a vontade, pois passamos a conviver juntos em sua casa, pois a hospedagem se faz em quartos na própria casa. Cafe da manha cheio de sabores e cheiros maravilhosos.Adoramos.

El ambiente familiar, la tranquilidad y sensacion de paz. Alrededores bonitos. El centro esta cerca. Andando a pie en pocos minutos.Mencion aparte para la propietaria, doña Luisa, una mujer encantadora que todo lo que te ofrece lo ha hecho ella personalmente. Desayuno abundante, variado y de calidad. Un placer estar alli.

La amabilidad de la dueña. El servicio dispensado, el trato recibido. El desayuno abundante y bueno. Nos sentíamos un poco en casa,

Mejorable la decoración de la casa. Muy abigarrada. Sobrarían la mitad de los numerosos muebles

Una casa es mucho más que los objetos que la conforman. Lo que le da alma a un espacio son las personas que lo habitan. Y en este caso, doña Luisa es lo más importante de Vila María. Su atención, su humanidad, los deliciosos postres que ella misma prepara para el desayuno -auténticos manjares-, las historias que regala en cada conversación... Todo eso forma parte del viaje. La casa es confortable, te sientes como si una familia te hubiera abierto las puertas de su hogar. Silenciosa, bonita. Nos despedimos de su dueña con fado de fondo, prometiéndonos volver. Si la conocen comprenderán el porqué de tantas opiniones positivas. Doña Luisa es una persona necesaria.

La ubicación no es la que más nos hubiera gustado. Está a unos 15 minutos caminando del centro del pueblo. Tiene, eso sí, parking propio y gratuito por lo que es ideal para coger el vehículo y desplazarse con él hasta Castelo de Vide.
