Vila Marta  

Vila Marta is not the Hilton Hotel - it's much, much better and much nicer! From the moment we arrived in the evening darkness in our rented car, and until a week later when we parted, it was like visiting a dear family we had long missed. Nice rooms and great views, fresh baked bread at the door each morning. Joel and Bruno helped with any questions during the week - including weather forecasts and advice, and Marta surprised with a bottle of homemade wine - which we had gotten a taste of, and liked. And flowers, hugs and kisses when we left early saturday morning. Thanks for a wonderful experience - we are quite sure where we want to be next time we come to Madeira. We liked very much our stay at Vila Marta (also loved Madeira). We think it was an excellent choice for our honeymoon. First thing, the owner family is very friendly and helpful. We did not really had time to learn too much about Madeira before getting there so all the advices from Mr. Bruno were a great help to us. Also they helped us with a lot of other things: taxi from the airport, renting a car, indications to good restaurants, shops, locations to visits. The room was very clean, spacious and well equipped (kitchen). Also to mention the beautiful flowers from Mr. Joel that we appreciated very much. Bus station to go to center of Funchal is very close (also we enjoyed the "montagne russe" trip with the bus :) Overall we highly recommend Vila Marta.

The ventilation of the toilet was a bit noisy if using toilet during the night (it takes about 5-10 min to stop the ventilation after you close light for toilet). On the other hand, it ventilates very well and is only noticeable during the night, when everything is silent. Going to near-by supermarket by foot is easy on the map but challenging in reality because of the slopes specific to all roads in Funchal (and generally on Madeira). So renting a car is recommended. (Also is of real help if you want to explore Madeira and not just to visit Funchal)

A fabulous vila.The hosts were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. They took time to explain things and was most helpful in every way. Infact I have never come across such friendly genuine hosts. The view was lovely over the sea. It was quiet and if you did stay you could get away without a car as the bus stops practically oppposite and is frequent into Funchal centre.

Joel and Bruno were very kind and helpful.Joel gave us flowers and bottle of good Madeira vine as farewell gift.

Highly recommending this hotel! Excellent staff, very helpful, will arrange anything you require. Daily complimentary breakfast with fresh buns. On arrival fresh fruit and flowers in the room. Very clean and comfortable, homely feel. Quiet location, but still very near to the Estrada Monumental. All apartments have sea views, free parking of rental car in front of entrance (dead end street).

We were perfectly taken care of by the management: they fixed taxi from/to airport, car rental at the reception, our immediate needs at arrival and fresh bred every morning. And they were always ready to take care of our little problems. Thank you Marta, Joel and Bruno for a most memorable stay in Madeira. We recommend Vila Marta to everyone.

Vila Marta is a small guesthouse with 9 apartments, situated on the outskirts of Funchal away from the noise and general hubbub, but within easy access and with views over the city and the sea. Joel & Bruno place great importance on the success of their guests' holidays, and do anything they can to help you have a wonderful time.

Die Vila Marta ist wie ein zweites Zuhause.Jeden Morgen um 7:00 hängen frische Brötchen an der Tür, die Zimmer werden jeden Tag gereinigt ( tägliches Wechseln der Handtücher) und für anfallende Probleme hat der Inhaber immer ein offenes Ohr.Durch seine 4 Sprachen(Portugiesisch,Französisch, Deutsch und Englisch) und seine eigene Wohnung im Haus ist er immer erreichbar.Wir können die Vila Marta wegen der sehr guten Serviceleistungen,dem Komfort und der Sauberkeit der Zimmer absolut nur empfehlen.Ein Supermarkt und Restaurant sind ca. 1km entfernt.

Das Hotel liegt in ruhiger Umgebung, mit optimaler Verkehrsanbindung und kostenfreiem Parkplatz vor dem Haus. Supermarkt und Shopping Center sehr nahe. Alle Zimmer haben schönen Meerblick und einen kleinen Balkon. Die Vermieterfamilie spricht sehr gutes Deutsch und ist überaus hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend in allen erdenklichen Anliegen. Bereits vor der Abreise aus Deutschland kam ein Anruf mit der Frage, ob man behilflich sein könne. Zur Begrüßung bei der Ankunft gab es eine Obstschale und Madeirakuchen, zum Abschied Madeirawein und einen sehr üppigen Orchideenstrauß flugfertig verpackt.Sehr aufmerksam und äußerst großzügig. Ich bin schon viel in der Welt herumgekommen, aber so eine ehrlich gemeinte Gastfreundschaft habe ich selten erlebt. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis bei diesem Hotel ist kaum zu übertreffen.

Wer im Urlaub Wert auf Fernsehen legt (aber wer tut das schon?) und deutsche Sender wünscht, muss mit RTL und einem kleinem Bildschirm auf dem Zimmer auskommen. Es laufen aber viele fremdsprachige Fernsehprogramme.

Die Apartments sind groß und verfügen über eine kleine Küchenecke zur Selbstversorgung. Vom ebenfalls großen Balkon hat man einen wunderbaren Blick über die Stadt auf das Meer. Die Einzelbetten können ganz einfach zusammen geschoben werden. Man hat dann das Gefühl eines Doppelbetts. Die Betreuung durch die Betreiberfamilie war wirklich unglaublich toll. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und können das Hotel nur weiterempfehlen.
