Pool and spa facilities. The theme was great- old fishing village as a hotel. Location in the salt pans was interesting for wildlife |

A very pleasant experience although the hotel is remote from Tavira and you really need a car with you to find it convenient as a holiday location. Sometimes there was a smell of drains at low tide |

Breakfast buffet was ok. The furniture was a bit worn out and not particularly clean. The TV was old - basic flatscreen TV is standard in many hotels of this price range. The staff were not particularly friendly (i.e. didnt offer to carry my girlfriend's bag or to walk us to our room). Internet/computer use is not free (or fast). The shuttle boat to the beaches refused to take us to the nicer farther beaches and still charged us the same fare for a 150 m push (apparently under instructions from the hotel). Finally the "games" room was very dirty and smelly (mold) and the hotel offered no boardgames, cards, etc. as other entertainment alternatives. I stayed at a Vila Gale hotel in Lagos for the same price and was much more satisfied. |

Attentive, knowledgeable and friendly staff. A superb central pool area and a varied, tasty good value buffet in the evenings. It is a great hotel in which to relax and an ideal base for visiting Ilha de Tavira's amazing beaches and the lovely eastern Algarve. Our room was comfortable with a delightful small veranda overlooking the river. However, we felt it was in need for a bit of redecoration. |

Good location, 10 minutes drive from the Tavira center. You can take the boat directly from the hotel to the beach and they provide you with a bus to take to Tavira. Very peaceful. Pool bar closes at 5pm. |

The ferry and access to Ilha de Tavira! What a beautiful beach! Also the barbecue and morning buffet were excellent and I liked that the morning buffet was included in the price! I felt like the rooms were not as clean as they could be. Also there were a lot of bees flying around the hotel. I have a 2 year old and this made me nervous. And the smell from the salt flats was a little overwhelming at times. |

the private boat to the beach (fantastic beach) the hotel architecture, the fact that all rooms are on the ground floor. Nice swimming pool Rooms Cleanliness to be improved. Should be more than changing towels and sheets (e.g. cleaning under the bed, dead mosquitos still on the wall, spider nets) Swimming pool Bar - very nice bar, menu to be improved, its a pitty that an hotel in Tavira does not propose local products (except for the fish) e.g. sea food "ameijoas, conquilhas", salads "salada de polvo, estupeta de atum, salada de ovas" etc. |

Really like the atmosphere, lovely resort with very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone, but especially loved the fact that there were lots of families with children, even though I do not have children I enjoy the friendliness and fun atmosphere families create. Also the museum and history around the resort was a wonderful surprise and very well displayed. I learned a lot. Dining staff very attentive, overall very pleased with our stay I only have one , and that is the fliesperhaps when the housekeepers are cleaning if they could please not leave doors open while cleaning, that would help. |

Loved the history and uniqueness of the place. With such a lovely terrace it is a shame you are restricted to breakfast inside - makes it feel very 'holiday camp'. Spa v expensive. |

I loved the fact the there was a beach outside the hotel that was not advertised. Also indoor pool area was lovely The pool bar never had change so had to add everything to your room. |

Excellent breakfast. Very nice pool and the trip to the islans by boat - you have to pay 2,2 Eur for it. The worst from 3 hotels we lived in during our stay in Portugal. The staff was professional, but seems to be almost arogant. Quite expensive snack bar, but the quality of food was not the best I have seen. You have to pay extra for the indoor swimming pool. |

The location is perfect for a quiet get away with the added advantage of complimentary mini bus into town and boat to the sandy beach. The staff were the best we encountered during our stay on the Algarve I cant say there is anything to dislike about this hotel. If I had to find something I would have liked a softer bed. |

Top hotel in a lovely setting amongst the Salinas near Tavira. Marvelous pool-area, but you can also use their regular boat across the Ria Formosa and use the beaches further out. Highly recommended. |

The buffet breakfast was very good. The pool area and location were lovely. Very difficult to find from Tavira. Additional non included extras like internet use and use of the spa and gym were overly expensive. |

the historical setup. the hotel is implemented in an hold tuna phishing village. we had to pay extra for some services which should be included in price. For example the interior hot swimming pool was part of the SPA facilities and therefore we pay for it. |

Location (remote) and general ambience. Directions to it could be clearer and needs signs naming the hotel at the roundabout in Tavira nearest to the hotel. |

Ideally located in the centre of Tavira, the design of this hotel is based on Arabic style elements, making it an eye-catching retreat from everyday life. |
Recommended by Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay, this restored rural farmhouse is perched on a hilltop, and boasts sweeping views of the coastline. |
Casa Viana is located in the most beautiful natural protected area of the Algarve - the Ria Formosa. Come and enjoy the ambiance and peaceful surroundings, and admire the great landscapes. |
Pedras d'el Rei is located in the heart of Ria Formosa Natural Park, 1km from the Beach Barril. The apartments have a regional style and are surrounded by magnificent green areas and gardens. |
