The location of the hotel was excellent - on a rocky outcrop, overlooking a small bay and a beach. I particularly liked the fact that our room had a sea view with two (!!) balconies and we slept to the sound of the crashing waves... Very romantic! We also liked the breakfast - plentiful and varied. No complaints, the hotel was really good. The only thing I did not like was that we could not see the sunset from the room as it faces south, not west, unlike what was written in some of the guest reviews I had read. However, this was not a real problem as we could watch the sunset from a nearby restaurant or from the rocks called Furnas right next to the hotel. |

The view. Mediocre food in restaurant. Unacceptable extra charges for use of pool table, which I think should be inclusive. |

The location is excellent and the design of the terrace makes most use of this aspect. Staff are very freindly, helpful and pleasant. The only thing I didn't like was the hotel is not signed as Vale Gale as we were unsure as to location on arrival. Otherwise perfect. |

The high standards maintained. The excellent siting. I'm sure at least UK guests would greatly appreciate having a kettle and tea and coffee available in the room rather than having to call room service. |

location the room was fairly clean but the terrace & terrace furniture were very dirty when we got there. the staff told us the furniture was old rather than dirty. it appeared to be a waste of time to argue so i just washed it myself in the bathtub. also there was only one iron for the entire hotel and no ironing board to go with it! ironing service that was offered would take at least 24 hours! |

Location. Booked two seaview rooms with balcony (ourselves + two children), requested they were adjacent rooms. The rooms given were two floors apart and at opposite ends of the hotel. Ground floor seaview rooms was musty smelling. Hotel wouldn't change rooms - very poor in my view. Hotel full of older people that didn't need adjacent rooms, so just inflexible. Wrote to complain - no answer. |

The surroundings are beautiful, and the building both historic and very comfortable. Superb staff The breakfast buffet was good, but I have had better (e.g. fried eggs instead of scramble mix) |

Its a beautiful hotel, the location is amazing, overlooking the Atlantic ocean and very near to the town centre. There were a number of things we were unhappy with; there was a smell in our room; the walls are v thin and the baby next door woke us every morning at 6am; execpt for the pool we had to pay for every other service the hotel has to offer - snooker, internet etc. Also the price of food and drink in the hotel is very expensive. |
