Calheta is a nice village and had a big supermarket as well as smaller shops and a white sand beach. If you enjoy hiking, you will have to travel a bit because most of the hikes are not located in this part of the island. I would personally stay somewhere a bit more centered next time. Although this town also had a certain charm because part of the village is still rather old, it also has a main road next to the beach with some restaurants, a bigger supermarket, pharmacy, ... I enjoy staying in a neighborhood which is a little more vibrant and went on a lot of hikes, so that's why I would choose a different town to stay the next time I visit Madeira.

A small town with amazing views over the Atlantic and a public sandy beach. There is a museum of contemporary art and a sugar refinery, but we did not visit them. A very short walk on the waterfront. Worth visiting the Jardim do Mar, a small village with pedestrian narrow streets. We also enjoyed the dolphin watching trip. It takes about 40 minutes by car from Calheta to Funchal.

Probably the nicest place of Madeira, especially for those who love sunbathing, sandy beaches and relaxation. Also if You would like to travel to North of Madeira, it is much closer to do it from Calheta region comparing to Funchal.

Lovely small town close to the see, all accomodation are close but take care ... if you don't like to climb a slope, it will be hard because all the streets are uphill !!! The sun is always present but not too hot at this moment so it was wonderfull. We'll come back as soon as possible !

The area is quite widespread from the marina and sand beach up into the mountains. Marina and beach area lovely and not inundated by 'cruisers'. Some good local cafes and bars inland. Very steep in places. Be careful if walking if recently wet! Good connections by bus to Funchal, Porto Moniz (well worth a visit with its rock pool swimming), and other smaller seaside villages. A good base for a walking holiday especially if you have a car though some levada walks can be got to by bus. Has an interesting looking modern art museum sadly closed for maintenance on my visit.

Calheta is not only a town but also the name of a large part of the island, which in this place is sunny and has beautiful views and sunsets. I highly recommend renting a car which is the best way for exploring the various villages and charming viewpoints of Caletha.

Stunning Location on the mountain hill. the view is absolutely amazing! very easy to reach by a car. 5 min’ drive from everything you ever need (restaurants, supermarket, beach, marine etc..) and the owners (Gabriel & Jorge) are more the amazing. They built everything by themselves and every single detail was on spot! even if you go for a vacation or need to work from your laptop during your vacation (internet is superrrr good! as we are Digital Nomads). everything you need in one place! 100/100!!

We loved everything about the place. Land Lady greeted us with warmth and open heart and bottle of Vino😉. Amazing views of the ocean and Arco de Calheta. Penthouse with 3 balconies, 2 rooms, toilets, lounge, tv, full kitchen. Lots of mountain trails, beach 20 minutes or Calheta beach 40 min walk. If you are in Calheta and wanna go back with taxi next to Pingo Doce market. Yellow taxi VW Transporter ask for Mauricio and say you got recommended by Greg and Sylvia😁

Located in quiet place in Prezeres. Very nice small house (honestly I'm interested what it was before), fully equipped with inside fireplace and outdoor terrace with grill. Great location for western part of Madeira trips. 10km to Paul da Serra plain, 10km to Calheta (beach, restaurants, well-equipped shopping incl. fresh fishes) via main express route. Locally three pubs/restaurants in 200 meters. Local shop and petrol station within 1 km.

Really enjoyed our stay. The pod is really comfortable, the outdoor space is lovely. Staff friendly, check in and out was easy. Amazing views from every aspect! The small honesty shop was great, and enjoyed receiving fresh bread each morning of our stay. Recommend hiring a car to get around as the roads to the pod are steep I wouldn't want to walk them. Calheta is a really lovely part of Madeira to visit and will be returning in the future.

Sunset views from your balcony. Local entertainment almost every night. Good buffet style breakfast. It's 1h drive from the hotel to Funchal one way. Most of the visitors in the hotel were older couples. The hotel is quiet and no lounge noises late in the night. 10+ parking spots by the hotel. Another 5-6 on the street, and plenty more on the parking 100m away. Great hotel. Away from the busy city life. Beautiful sunsets, every day.

The design and architecture of the hotel were outstanding. The staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the spacious room with a modern design and a big balcony. The outdoor pool area as well as bar areas were very enjoyable. Loved the little surprises by the hotel staff - everything was carefully well-thought. The breakfast was great with the widest selection we got among other hotels we stayed in Madeira.

The hotel is surrounded by wonderful landscapes and its location couldn't be more peaceful. The room was really spacious and cozy and the kitchenette was definitely a plus for some meals during our stay. The staff was also very kind and helpful, making Jardim Atlântico the perfect place to escape from the busy city lifestyle and relax while absorving the calm of Madeira's natural wonders.

All inclusive is a bonus with 2 different restaurants. Staff very attentive and lovely - all great English too. Lots of options of things to entertain yourself but so many extra charges. Pool was 3euros! Comfy bed and room. Right by the 2 beaches and some bus and tours to be booked right outside if you want. Main restaurant was lovely - lots of options.

This felt like a resort. Everything you need is on property. There is a pool to relax, plenty of amazing food, and the staff was beyond helpful and kind. The property itself is gorgeous, overlooking the coast. Our rooms were clean and nicely decorated. We will come back to Madeira to stay at this location.

I never thought that proximity to the beach would mean that much in a place like Madeira, where beaches are definitely not the top attractions. We went for a short swim in the ocean and started our day fresh and ready for the levadas. It's also close to a supermarket and to the restaurants.

This house is in perfect location for Calheta beach. Sometimes we didn't even put on shoes to go for a swim! And the views are amazing. Lovely to eat outside, under the shade of the canopy, and look at the mountains and sea.

30 minute walk down hill to the beach. €12.97 for a taxi back from the beach. The taxi service in Calheta is poor and buses are non existent so it would be better to have a car.
