Staff very helpful for someone who doesn't speak much Spanish. Good location near calle Palma
Room was very confortable, air conditioning gentle as a breeze, balcony simply superb for quickly drying my most important things
Location, historic building, size of rooms, staff
Nice colonial building with a good renovation can be called correctly Palace. For the time beeing with the rate offered is a good value at the center of the town. They suggested Lido Bar for lunch and was great.

the hotel was overall good and breakfast was nice.
Location is not ideal but not bad either. We had a problem with payment because the receptionist (with currly hair) charged us a ridiculously high exhange rate so the actual total cost was higher than the one stated on booking.com. I complained about it but in vain, the guy wouldnt budge. Having in mind a normal exchange rate the price stated on booking.com was correct. This little scam really had an impact on our overall satisfaction. Be sure to pay in cash, preferably in guarani!
This hotel is located perfectly for me during stay in Asuncion, Paraguay. It is also the most economical that I found in downtown Asuncion. It is very antique as indicated by the elevator that you will use with a capacity of only 5 people. Breakfast is served every morning and included in the room price but I didn't find it very fulfilling, so walked up the street about 5 blocks to my favorite cafe/restaurant Bolsi. The highlight of my stay was being accommodated with a spacious suite with a sitting area (living room), comfortable bed, refrigerator(with minibar), spacious bathroom, balcony with city-view, and WiFi. The manager called me and told me she had upgraded me because they had the suite available during my short two-day stay and I thought that was a nice gesture that showed me they appreciated my business. I have stayed in another hotel in downtown close to Asuncion Palace and the rooms were not spacious at all and the bathrooms were really tiny. I would recommend staying at Asuncion Palace and inquiring about the suites while booking your stay. It is worth it for the space you get.
The breakfast could improve.
Staff was amazing, very well located. It's an historical building, it's old. Don't expect a luxury place.
Nothing to complain about.
Very nice "old" hotel, friendly staff, good location, interesting building
I spent five days/four nights at the Asunción Palace, and was very pleased with the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms and common areas were pleasant and very clean. I particularly enjoyed the aspects of the original architecture that were still part of the hotel, and the sunny, airy breakfast room. The breakfast itself was fresh, varied, and plentiful. Overall, a great place to stay in Asunción; I would certainly be a return guest.
The wonderful ambiance, high ceilings and spacious public rooms. Wide hallways with inviting seating available. I have not enjoyed a hotel so much. It was simply delightful.
Not much. The surrounding area may be cause for a nanosecond of apprehesion, but it was no problem at all.
We stayed here twice...once for a single night and then at the end of our trip for 3 nights. The hotel is located a block away from the end of Palma street - a street with lots of bars and restaurants. It is a few blocks from Loma San Jeronimo. While the area looks a little sketchy, it is actually very safe and perfect for walking around Asuncion. If you are up to it, you can even walk to Mercado 4 in about 40min. Busses run right in front of the hotel and can take you to anywhere in the city. Free parking and wifi. We stayed in 2 types of rooms. The first was a large suite with a huge balcony. We were charged $65/night for this room. The second was a normal room with a window that lead to a small terrace. It was $56/night. The funny thing is that the cheaper room was MUCH better. The suite was old and dated and had very poor wifi. We were not looking forward to returning. However, we were happy that we did because the normal room was modern and had great wifi. Both rooms were very clean and had good bathrooms/showers. There is an English speaking employee - Graciela. The entire staff is very nice.
Poor WiFi in some areas
It is a beautiful, historical hotel with lovely staff.
It wasn't an corporate cookie cutter hotel. You could feel the history in the building and that is always a plus for me. But most importantly the staff was very friendly and helpful and I couldn't ask for more. If you are in Asuncion, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Every thing muy bien!
Old colonial style hotel Located at the western edge of the easily reached "old town center", while the new town center is quite a bit further to the east. This hotel is definitely of an older generation and possesses its own colonial type of charm. The main people at the reception during the day time have a good to excellent command of English, and everybody is very friendly, kind and helpful, they easily organized for us a day tour of the area surrounding Asuncion. Our room had a small sitting area with a desk/chair and readily accessible electrical outlet. Floors are all tiled which enhances the clean feeling. The medium sized bedroom has a queen sized bed, night tables and a small stand with flat screen TV, bare walls plus a very efficient and quiet air-conditioning unit. The bathroom with bidet has a reasonably sized counter top space at the sink and a tiled shower stall. Good wifi in room, weaker signal in the lounge area. Good, if simple breakfast with cold meats, cheese, breads, freshly baked cake and a nice fresh fruit selection, juice and coffee. Overall, a good place, with very friendly staff, great location and excellent pricing.
The windows and doors would benefit from a upgrade or at least a new paint job. Shower curtain is very flimsy and clinging (suggest the hotel upgrade these), some of the towels had a stale smell.
The location of the Asuncion Palace is very convenient and in the historic center of the city. The friendly and very helpful staff go out of their way to do everything they possibly can for. That is by far the most outstanding aspect of this hotel: the staff. The exterior is quite beautiful and charming, and the neighborhood seems to be quite safe and walkable.
While the exterior is very charming, the upper floors where most of the rooms are located are rather plain and shabby in appearance. The hotel really does need to replace the towels and linen, which in some cases are threadbare. The halls and rooms could stand a new coat of paint as well. All of these negatives are outweighed by the convenient location and kindness and friendliness of the staff.
The Asuncion Palace is a historic and retains most of the splendor of a bygone age. The ceilings are high and the stone and woodwork is fantastic. Also the location is great - just down the street from some nice resturaunts and bars and close to most of the sights in the historic center.
Nice colonial style architecture Very friendly, kind and helpful staff Clean and quiet room with good size and comfortable bed Very good location close to the restaurants and historical buildings
very centrally located, good breakfast, nice and big room, friendly people at the reception
It was a great basic hotel in a perfect location. Both bed and bathrooms were good and functional. The building itself has a lot of charm.
The decor was a bit outdated but nothing that would stop me from staying there again.
Large rooms, colonial style decor, clean, floors accessible by elevator. Public bus from airport to hotel.
Location is not inviting, rolling luggage on sidewalks can be difficult.
