Hotel Berthelot  

Location in the heart of the city, less than a block from Radisson and Hilton. Easy access from both airports using public bus, get off at Piaţa Romana and then about 10-minute walk. Room was very clean. Good selection of Romanian tv channels (about 40) with many English movies and Romanian subtitles, but only one international channel (Euronews in English). Good selection of items for breakfast, but "hot items" were lukewarm and not so fresh after 9 am. I would have considered coming back here again if they didn't cheat me with their inflated exchange rate.

When I booked the hotel, the description said payment is to be made in local currency, but the price was listed in euros. Upon checkout, I used a credit card and was charged an exorbitant rate that was about three percent above the official exchange rate as well as those of private exchange banks. The bill listed 4.48 lei to the euro, and the all-time high of the euro was 4.3688 on June 30, 2010. On the date of my checkout- Nov 21, 2011 - it was just above 4.36. This is plain and simple fraud. I protested to the front desk receptionist who couldn't care less and said that was the hotel's exchange rate. So does this mean they can just charge whatever they want? The mattress and cheap pillows were uncomfortable, no down comforter/quilt, just polyester. Staff only wanted room number at breakfast. Other than restaurant no other facilities. I spent another night at the Marriott Grand which was much better all around.

We discovered only when we went to have a shower that there was only one bath towel for a double room. As we have another booking at the Berthelot we know to ask for another towel at Reception when we book in. However, one towel for a double or twin room is not good.

The hotel is really very good. the room was quiet and we did not hear any noise from other rooms. the staff is very pleasant to deal with and helpfull. breakfast is good for the morning. we did enjoy our stay especialy having dinner outside. when i got to bucharest again, i will defenetly try to stay in this hotel.

Desk Staff was helpful and Your House keeping Staff was great. Our room was Kęty spotless. Food was Good with an accomodating wait Staff. Location made it difficult for us to find our way to public transportation easily.

The staff was very helpful and had a very good energy (especially Mr Stefan), so I felt at home. The hotel has a good location, a short walk to the old town or 5min with taxi. Nice breakfast, restaurant was ok. Internet connection was flawless. Very comfortable inside, lots of international tv channels, complimentary cosmetics in the bathroom, nice minibar, generally very good 4* hotel for a price of 3* hotel. Plus it's quiet around, while Calea Victorei is 200m away

Everything was very good, I can't think of any downsides of this hotel unless you expect 5* treatment or the location is no good for you.

Very new hotel, so clean and well equipped, the rooms have a good size and the bathrooms are perfect. Internet speed is great and free So globally simple but very nice hotel, perfectly respecting its category

The staff is very pushy on tips, when u order from the bar. Hotel lobby is very small thus not so convenient to work or have meeting But all this is only detail

We found Hotel Berthelot to be very comfortable. The room was clean and roomy, the bathroom was well-laid out, with sufficient towels and hot water. The restaurant was wonderful and had great hours, breakfast was delicious and ample. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The hotel was well-located. We had a wonderful stay. If we return to Bucharest, we will certainly book through your website and return to Hotel Berthelot.
