We liked only that the hotel was close to city center and the room was acceptable.
Today, me and my Turkish boyfriend, Turkish, we got home after visiting several countries and we would like to write our feedback about our stay in Belgrade, Hotel Royal. So, we have reserved a double room by Booking for 13 to 15 February, for 2 nights and the room price was74 euros, and the breakfast was not included. When we arrived in Belgrade at the hotel, the receptionist asked us if we want a good room or deluxe room, and I told him that we want a good room (because I’m Serbian from Romania and I know serbian), and the receptionist did not specify that the price changes , so we did not ask. After 2 nights spent at the hotel, on 15 February at 11.15 we asked the bill of the room, and we saw that the price was 88 euros. We were shocked and I asked the receptionist why we have to pay 88 euros and not 74, and he answered that the room they gave us was renovated and therefore costs more. I showed the confirmation received by mail to him, where it can see that we had to pay just 74 euros for double room, not specified if is good or bad room (they had good photos with rooms), even of that, the receptionist still insisted that the room is renovated and that’s why we had to pay more. But we stiil don’t understand why they didn’t say something about the price. From what I know, and my boyfriend too, the receptionist should announce if it will be some changes about staying in the hotel, but it seems like they cheat us, because my boyfriend is Turkish and he felt offended because they did on purpose. The problem wasn’t because of money and that we had to pay more, just because they were not able to tell us about the change of the price. What was worse, is that in the bill was included the breakfast too, even if we actually did not eat in the hotel. We spent time in the city and there we also ate every time, but at the hotel we only slept.
very friendly staff very clean rooms
poor sound insulation between rooms poor wifi signal
The location of the hotel is perfect! It is right in the middle of the city center and old town. Good prices and also a "plane" breakfast is included to the price.
Your room will probably not be the same room as it seems in the pictures! I mean not even close.. There are "allowed to smoke" and "non-smoking" rooms in the hotel. Represented pictures belong to the "non-smoking rooms" Even if I statated that I didn't smoke, I was given the other type of room. My room was okay but the smell of tobacco was always there. Also my room was extremely hot in december due to the heater that can not be controlled!
The location in the center is good, within walking distance to strict center of Belgrade. Also, pets are welcome in the hotel.
There is no parking available, had we known this before (it says there is parking in front of the hotel!) we would have booked elsewhere. Also, they lost one of our reservations, luckily there were rooms available.
Staying at the Royal was a fantastic experience, judging how little I have paid for my room in a Hotel which, one might consider to be in a fantastic location. A flair of retro 'cold war' mixed with a little old fashion Yugoslavia, I couldn't have asked for more value for money. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. I would not hesitate, staying there again.
Nice location, very good price!
The bed was comfortable, sheet and pillow were clean. Good heating system. Location was quite central and can walk to city centre and all major attractions. Staff were accommodating of request -- printing, ordering taxi.
The room was non-smoking but smell of cigarettes was still strong. I woke up tasting the cigarette in my mouth. I don't know about other hotels but since smoking is allowed indoors in Serbia, this is probably common to all establishments unless it is completely smoke-free. The room clearly needs to be refurbished, even the soap dish was partly hanging off the wall. The breakfast selection was poor and the food was swimming in oil which probably reflects Serbian food in general. Poor facility overall - all I got was one small soap to last me for the 3 nights, no tea/coffee making facilty in the room, NO WIFI in the room!!!
Kind people , cheap ,and very convenience location.
Wi -Fi in the room sometime cut off in certain hours.
The greatest location in the city. The staff was wonderful, could not have been more friendly. The price was right and the rooms were clean and comfortable. An overall terrific experience.
No space on the room No tent on the windows Noise Bathroom with many broken devices
Best Location Good Price Friedly and helpful staff Clean room
Hot days a Little too warm, because no aircon
Perfect location, very close to Kalemegdan, on the heart of old town. Friendly staff. Bar and restaurant opened 24/7 !!!!!!! Extremely cheap beer in the hotel !!!
Close to the Old Town, not enought...
Rooms doesn't look like on photos at all and are terribly dirty, the bathroom is the worst!! For such a money? - Never!
Unfriendly and not helpful staff. Pictures and actual hotel are very different. Avoid this hotel
A cockroach welcomed us in the discusting room in this hotel... The walls were dirty and steps after killing some insects were still seen... She sheets (if we can call it sheets) were smelly and dirty, certainly not newly changed. Inspite of ordering non-smoking every single thing in the room smelled like an ashtray.. ...What can I say, yes the location is more than perfect but it is really not worth it!! We stayed just until 5am, on those discusting and unconfortable beds we could not sleep at all.. For your own health do not visit this hotel... We had more than horrible experience...
location fixed-price taxi to airport
overal poor quality/shape of the facility poor Internet felt like going back in time ~ 20years
Nothing apart from the location. It was within walking distance to city centre and Kalamegdan
Where should I start? The hotel exterior looked like a brothel with the flashing neon light outside. Two star hotel? More like max 1 star. I have stayed in hostels with much better facility and staff than this and I have travelled to many countries around the world. This has to be the worse place I have ever stayed in. My husband made a mistake of not checking reviews beforehand so I hope you guys out there can read this and go somewhere else. When we checked in, we were greeted by this fellow who simply didn't care. He gave us two keys for two rooms, 1 single and 1 double room and also took our passports for safe keeping until we check out. We went into our rooms and completely disgusted at the state those rooms were in. Absolutely filthy worn out carpet, dirty quilt cover, cracks all over the walls, and the bathroom....public toilets are better than that! So after we were shocked by the state of the hotel, we went to reception to request a change of rooms. The reception guy said, well that's what you get for the price! I went NO. The photos you have placed on booking.com for single and double rooms were not the same as the rooms we have been given. The guy went mumbled on and gave us a few more keys for us to pick and choose. We eventually found rooms that matched the photos on booking.com. After we made the decision, the guy said those rooms are more expensive!!! We were exhausted after driving through and flying into Belgrade so I convinced my husband to stay and move out the next day. The hotel manager wasn't even there the following day and the two new receptionists didn't care. Simply not friendly people. We were saddened by the fact that local people can accept the condition of this 'boutique' hotel. It is certainly not at all worth any stars and international tourists should not stay at Hotel Royal otherwise you will simply have a bad experience and will make you think twice about returning to the country.
The staff, helpful and talkative. All fluent in English. Great location, right in the city centre
pretty much everything else. Street facing rooms are noisy.
Smells and it is not clean
Location is cool.
The hotel room is very old with even rusty faucet knobs. It didnot look like at all as it was shown in the photos. The carpets were all worn plus the hygiene was very low. I was frustrated at the hotel overall during my stay.
I had to book in a hurry breakfast included good location clean but run-down
wifi didn't work in the room, staff weren't very willing to help. Needs a lot of maitenance
At 8am there were unbearable noice of fadroma and another machine making some reconstructions to the building in front of the hotel. And all that after a tbe storm during the nidht that didn't allow to sleep.
Perfect Location. Bar 24/7 Excellent Staff Good Room Space. AC! :)
only location and wifi connection
dirty room, old building
