Score from 432 reviews Good
wifi connection poor and most of time no connection
Location was excellent. Price was really good too. Rooms were modern, clean and tidy.
Breakfast was not great with limited options. Room was noisy from the road and it has a bar right next door
only location was good
Hotel was discusting .. you should not work this kind of hotel dear booking.com for your good reputation .. central heating was not working .. my room never cleaned , breakfast poor and plates , cup were weet :( as a former hotelier it was a dissaponting hotel .. therefore i had a terrible cold .. telephone does not work in the room ..
Kitay-Gorod is thee closest hotel to the Gostiny Dvor and that makes it very good. The double beds are comfortable. I like this hotel and will book again.
Personel very friendly and helpful
No elevator - nobody to helpwith heavy luggage - very noisy / traffic and streetlife
The location is good, just in front of the Metro.
The hotel has no sign in english in the front, only a sign in Russian that indicates Hotel so you can never found the hotel. The reception lobby is in the first floor and the room was in the second floor, there is no lift. The brakfast was por and the pictures shown on the web site are not what the real hotel is.
Location, walking distance to red square and the Kremlin. Very close to metro stop.
Hotel was a bit basic.
One receptionist was friendly and very helpful, the rest didn't bother. The location is fine but next time I would get a cheaper hotel further away from the center if it would be a better price- quality balance. With the metro you can reach the center in no time!
Most of the time no Wifi, neither in the room or "dining room". Every night till the early hours disturbing music from the club below.
The location was great, less than a 10 minute walk to Red Square/Kremlin and all that area has to offer. Right by Metro station so quick and easy to get anywhere by this excellent efficient system. Good choice of restaurants/cafes nearby. Good value for money given its location. Room was absolutely fine. We had room at front of hotel and were not troubled by the road noise although we were there Friday-Monday. Air conditioning worked OK so no need to open windows. Beds comfortable though only one pillow. Room reasonable size, not luxury but perfectly good, comfortable and clean. Tea/coffee available all day from breakfast room and water dispensers for constant cold water, useful for going out in 32C temperatures. Some staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast simple but perfectly sufficient. Arrived from train from St Petersburg a couple of hours early and they apologised to us for not having room ready, took us through to get coffee in breakfast room and came back 10 minutes later with more apologies and to say room now ready. Had expected to ask to leave luggage somewhere and to have to come back at correct check-in time. Similarly booked taxi for 1pm on departure day and told could have room until then. Very impressed with this flexibility and kindness. Recommend.
Pleased we had taken taxi as do not think we would have found otherwise! No name outside. Just a door next to chinese cafe with a buzzer to press! Fairly steep flight of stairs to have to carry luggage up though to be fair asked for help when I left and it arrived immediately. A few staff sullen and unhelpful but mostly good. Breakfast simple but fine and included in price. No change of linen/towels during three night stay but not end of world and good on environment.
The long stairs to the top. The youngsters on the roof of my room one night, peering into the room.
The very helpful receptionists, the dining staff and the general condition if the hotel. Being so central was a major advantage too.
No name if the hotel on the front if the hotel, so finding it was a bit if guesswork.
The location is excellent.
The room was small, uncomfortable and expensive. Had no desk. In fact, I believe that even though I paid for a double room - single user, I was given a single room. In addition, the air conditioner did not work well, and the room was noisy.
Air-conditioning was broken in one of our rooms which made it extremely hot.
Location is the best
Wi Fi connection is not good in rooms.
Staff speaks in English (aside from a guy once that just pointed at a paper to write my room number), and the hotel is on a very good location (few meters away from Kitay-Gorod metro, 10 minutes walk away from Red Square). There's free water fountains on hallways. And if you manage to get the Wi-Fi connection, its speed is fairly decent.
Sometimes it takes a few minutes until there's hot or cold water available, sometimes you won't have water at all. It depends on the time of the day and the other guests. Breakfast is okay, but might be too bland and repetitive by the third day. I missed something fresher, like fruits. And just like other reviews pointed out, be sure to memorize how "Hotel" is written in cyrillic, as there are no signs written in roman alphabet on the street.
Great location. Comfortable and practical.
The hotel's location was perfect ! 10 minutes from the red square and just next to the metro station. The personnel speaks english very well -which is extremely rare in moscow I can say after 5 days of experience. There's a lovely park in front of the hotel. The neighborhood was full of life, all day and night. The breakfast was good, we had pancakes and coffee every morning. In the end, I can say that if I go to moscow again (and if I don't win a lottery until then) I would pick this hotel again. Don't expect more in Moscow for this price.
We had a problem with the bathroom one morning but they had already solved it when we came back to the hotel after 2-3 hours.
We were given a room at 8.00 in the morning directly after arrival in Russia. Even told we could have breakfast! Pleasant front office staff
The entrance of the hotel is hard to find! Nothing is written in English and even when the taxi driver pointed it out, there was just a doorway. We pressed a bell, door opened onto a bank of stairs. The reception is at the top to the left. No one is there to help get the luggage up the stairs The room was overheated, with radiators which couldnt be turned off. We could control the heat by use of air conditioner!
Hotel is very closed to the hearth of the city, 10 minutes walking distance to red square, kremlin, cathedrals and GUM. The stuffs is very friendly, talkative. Hotel is very clean and metro station is just next door. The breakfast is quite well. So, I strongly recommend to stay there. If I go moscow, I will defetinely stay in Kitay-Gorod Hotel.
Reasonably priced in good location. Easy access to metro. Excellent free breakfast
Location was not marked well and hard to find. Our room facing road had loud traffic noise
Perfect location for business & leisure. Good WIFI and close to Metro.
No line phone in the room... Breakfast was a bit dull...
Breakfast, bad wi-fi connection. I do not recommend this hotel for a business trip. It will be a good idea for a vacation.
Location is perfect, in the centre of Moscow, 7 minutes walk from the Red Square. Staff is perfect, friendly and caring. Late arrival should not be declared, nobody calls you with the question when you are coming, you may come late at night and your room will stay yours.
Everything is perfect, this is my Favourite Hotel in Moscow
The breakfast was good, but it would be nice to have some fresh fruit as well.
The music from the restaurant next door was too loud, it was difficult to sleep at times.
The hotel has an excellent location, is reasonably priced and the homemade pancakes for breakfast are delicious!
There is no telephone in the room and wifi connection is shaky.
