Rygerfjord Hotel & Hostel is housed in a ship anchored at the southern shore of Lake Mälaren in Stockholm. It offers free Wi-Fi and cabin-style rooms with city and lake views.
Score from 733 reviews Very good
Our room was so dusty and HOT! We weren't fans of the bathroom either. There is only one outlet in the whole room and that is kind of tough when both travellers come equipped with many electronics. Also, very few bedrooms have WIFI and they switched us to one that did.
The location was great and the staff were all awesome. The bed was surprisingly cosy. None of the negatives kept us from enjoying the fact that we were on a boat.
wi-fi works only in the hall
close to bus station, big breakfast, in the center of the city, the best price you can get
The constant noise coming from other rooms.
Location, close to the Old Town and to bus stops
The bed is extremely rough if you are sleeping on your back it's okay but you won't be able to sleep on your side
sleeping in the boat is nice that lobby/restaurant place is very cozy
I staid one week, no linen or towels or cleaning of the cabin was done. Living in a closed old cabin is rather stressing but ...I survived. PC was available, but with problematic wifi. Breakfast was bad and for 90 Kr(!!!). I found a better cafe just across the street. Unfortunately it was the cheaper accommodation available in Stockholm. The town itself is excellent!
The location. Near to every significant place, though not so near to metro.
I wasn't impressed by the state of our cabin. There were used Coca Cola bottles under the bed, lots of dust on the shelves and under the bed and the private bathroom was quite dirty and full of little flies. I did not fancy having a shower there. It would've been nice if the free wi-fi had worked in the cabin as well.
I liked the location and the surroundings of the hostel. The breakfast was also very good and worth the money we paid for it. The sheets and towels were nice and clean, the mattress was also acceptable. Private bathroom was nice.
The room was a bit dirty and the bed is very hard. The walls are very thin and you can hear next doors conversations.
Location and price was great.
The boat was clean and the staff were very helpful. It made a nice change from typical accommodation. I would highly recommend.
Expand the wifi coverage please
- Room looks definitely not like the picture provided - Bed cover looked like it wasnt changed - Breakfest is not worth the money
Breakfast standard was a little up and down. And why not install wifi all over the boat instead of just the common room?
The location and view over the water from the cabin
24h reception, and personnel always happy to help.
Very loud (you can clearly hear people in rooms next to yours) and the mattresses are paper thin. The shower was overloading, the toilet flushing only once every other time and the room (which had no window) was 40 degrees Celsius at night, although we had turned off the heat the day before. Impossible to sleep!
LOVED the location! The staff was friendly and nice. Now, considering how expensive Stockholm is, it's the cheapest option :)
The rooms are small. Like, imagine something really small getting cut in half, and that's a good indication of how small they are.
Staff were nice, and it was cool to stay on a boat. Location was fine.
Bed wasn't the most comfortable, thin mattress. Bread crumbs on our bedside cabinet but overall it was still really good value for money and we enjoyed our stay!
Great location, staff were friendly enough.
The rooms seem to vary quite a bit in terms of finish and comfort. The mattresses in cabin 37 were well overdue for replacing and included wallowed out spots where the hips of countless previous guests had compressed the foam. The atmosphere of the boat conveys a feeling of an effort at "mostly functional" rather than aesthetic. The breakfast was overpriced, in my opinion, and strictly utility-grade.
Exactly across the street from the eastern side of Gamla Stan (Stockholm's "Old Town") with great views from the rooms across the water to Skeppsholms bridge, the Af Chapman (another, older boat hostel) and the picturesque buildings on Skeppsholmen. It is possible to go above decks and see out towards the gateway to the archipelago. The 50s-era boat itself (the MS Birger Jarl) may be of interest to some. There is WiFi only in the public lounge on deck 5, although the connection was sometimes erratic (probably due to the load on a cool and rainy day). The price for a room is quite reasonable for the area.
The original (trapezoid shaped) bed has a very thin mattress. Vacuum toilets are a nasty feature of shipboard life. The shower had no effective curtain or screen, so the bathroom flooded. The radiator was apparently defective, a small grotty fan heater provided. Floor and light fittings dirty. No television anywhere on board.
This 1953-built 'Birger Jarl', the former Silja Line ferry and cruise ship has many interesting features. The cabin I stayed in was - unfortunately- almost original.
WiFi only in the common room. Not clean below bed. Some renovation needed.
Staying on a boat! Literally down town, 10-15 minutes walk time from major attractions and the central train station.
Very noisey due to thin walls, you can hear everything. Also the 'power intake room' makes you feel as though you are sleeping next to a giant refrigerator with constant motor noise.
Staff friendly and helpful. Towels , sheets and Toilet Roll included!
Great atmosphere established by the nice staff and the acient boat! and view, naturally, straight over the sea. shared bathroom, at one's own risk :D it was clean as well as the toilet though the arsenal is old.
The rooms are small, but their position is good. The bathroom, however, is small and not comfortable.
The beds were comfortable and the view is very nice. The hostel's location excellent.
The wifi was only on the common area which is something I knew before going in but just to keep in mind.
I liked the fact that it was in the center of the city, close to a bus stop, metro station and many of the must see places in Stockholm. The room was great and the staff were friendly. It’s on a boat so easy to find and cool to stay in.
The rooms are way too small (something like 2 x 2,5 meters). You can't possibly be comfortable there.
It is fun to stay on a boat
