Hotel Vinterpalatset  

Hôtel sans prétention qui n'enthousiaste pas mais qui ne déçoit pas. Petite chambre avec vue, au loin, sur l'usine d'extraction de fer. Le restaurant ne fonctionnait pas (trop peu de client ?...). L'avion de Stockholm part trop tôt (6h45) pour avoir un petit déjeuner. Contrairement a ce qui est annoncé, il n'existait pas de navette avec l'aéroport. Mais, gentiment, la personne qui nous a accueillis, nous a réservé un taxi.

Nos exigences sont forcement adaptées au niveau de l'hôtel, ce qui nous permet de ne pas être frustré. Mais les clients ne doivent pas se bousculer à cette période de l'année (1er mars) !. Comment apprécier un hôtel endormi ?.

spa, vieille baignoire double , pas de jet performent et l'eau pas changée , sauna 50 degres pas suffisant pour apprecier , lit tres inconfortable vieux somier a resort , pas terrible pour un 3 etoiles

I liked the warm welcome, the light swedish admosphere, the clean rooms with nice beds and the very good breakfast. East level had its own sitting area. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpfull. The icehotel is only 15 km from kiruna and a must see. Dogsledding and ski-doing are a must as well, and of course if you get the chance go out to see the magnificent northern lights

Very convenient location - close to town center but off the main road. Wonderful in house sauna facilities - can book privately. Accommodating to special dietary requests.

The staff were very helpful. Location was excellent. Breakfast spread was vast. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The sauna could be privately booked.

The charm of the old building, service and wonderful breakfast spread! Venue, venue, venue!

The inconsiderate guests! There were people who did not know how to close a door. They slammed doors the whole of Friday night! It is an old building and mostly wood, so I cannot understand why people slam doors??

The staff weren't very friendly and didn't smile the whole time we where there. Un-known to us the sauna was booked up for the whole evening on one of our 2 night visit so we were asked to leave, no notice to this effect and also a bit rude as the sauna was the main reason for booking the hotel.

The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel offers a free parking which is a rare thing in this place. It is well located close to city center. The tv is hidden in cupboards – seems a good idea to me as I see no need in tv on vacation.

The walls seem to be made of wood and as a result you may hear sounds coming from other hotel guests. In our case I can only hope that we have not disturbed our neighbors as we have decided to go out on a walk after wakening up at around 5 A.M. The bed seemed a little bit soft to my back.

Situated very close to the railway station , making it easy to reach for arriving guests . I was given a good map of central Kiruna by the receptionist , which was extremely useful in finding my way around . My room was clean .

I found my room too hot at times , despite the fact that the heating was not on . The windows would open , but only one of the four windows had a metal catch with which to keep the window in the open position , the other three windows would blow shut in the wind risking breaking the glass . Mesh wire screen on the inside of the window to prevent flies and mosquitos from entering the room if the window was opened , would be very nice .No coffee making facility in my room with which to make an early morning cup of coffee .

Hotel Vinterpalatset is delightful. The rooms are not huge, but certainly large enough for two people. The bathroom is lovely--a beautiful real shower, with a large enough space to actually shower well, and no water gets on the bathroom floor. And the bathroom is nicely sized. These are rare qualities for a European bathroom. The bed looked a bit worn, but it was very comfortable. I slept very well. The room and all the common areas were spotless and well kept. The management and staff really care about keeping this place in superb shape. Finally, the breakfast was quite good--plentiful, lots of choices, and very fresh.

Other reviewers have commented on the dated furniture. Sure, but it was all clean and very comfortable. I have no reservations about the hotel. The room was comfortable, and the staff was lovely.

Really liked this place with good service and very friendly staff. Breakfast was over my expectation at this pricelevel of rooms. Very good value for money!

The hotel is rustic but extremely clean and comfortable. The room was warm and cozy, the bathroom had a warmed floor..wonderful. We were there during the first week of April when it was already getting warmer--now at 20 to 30 F. It can get to minus 40 but the hotel is warm and welcoming. Swedish breakfast--very generous. Gravlax, three kinds of herring, good fresh bread, try the reindeer cold cuts. It isn't a warm breakfast but there are boiled eggs, plentiful fresh coffee. You can make it work.

We had a largish room in the corner. Be sure you request a corner room because they are larger than the ones in the corridor. But the downstairs room is next to the stairs and you can hear the upstairs neighbor. Not a huge deal because nightlife is early and no one comes in late. But upstairs might be a quieter deal.

Vinterpalatset is a charming, small, boutique-style hotel in a very central location in Kiruna (about 5 minutes walk from the town centre/2 minutes from the train station). The place was clean, the decor was traditional Swedish (old fashioned, but in a good way), and staff friendly. The buffet breakfast was great. The free wifi worked throughout my stay. I would stay here again.

Nicely decorated, great breakfast buffet, good value for money, good location, really nice to have the sauna + hot tub for relaxing, also nice relaxation areas with comfortable chairs + tv.

The wireless internet connection was quite poor and very slow. I was disappointed that there were no curtains to keep out the strong light that comes in the windows during the night, just little Swedish blinds that hardly keep out any light at all.
