The rooms were great - very quirky and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful
As this was the only hotel I could find in or near Stockholm City that had a room available for a week at short notice, I was a little unsure what I was going to find when I arrived. However, I was extremely pleased with what I found. Very welcoming, very clean, quiet, surrounded by trees and water in the suburbs of Stockholm. Superb food, both at breakfast and in the evening in the restaurant! The hotel is a converted prison, so if you like something a little different then this is right up your street! Just lovely!
Can't think of anything I didn't like about it. If I really had to say something then perhaps it would be to mention the distance from the city centre. It's a long way to walk and the taxi's are expensive. However, there is a tube station about 10 minutes from the hotel and a regular bus service too, so the distance isn't really too much of a problem. Also, the airport bus (Flygbussarna) stops outside the tube, so it is very easy to get to and from Arlanda Airport.
I've stayed at some great hotels but this rates amongst my favourites. There's nothing particularly outstanding, but they just do everything well, and the fact it's a converted prison makes for a fun stay. The room was comfortable & very clean. The shared kitchen was great, as eating out in Sweden can be rather expensive, and when travelling with a toddler the ability to do your own meals can really help. In short, a fun, friendly place to stay.
Staff was great and very friendly, silent surroundings, great and healthy breakfast, prison museum under hotel roof
It is far away from the prime Stockholm centre (40 min walk, 10 min by taxi, T-bana stop ca 10 mins walk from the hotel) which was acceptable for me as it gave nice walk via Västerbron and Norr Mälarstrand to the office
Location museum breakfast
Too fancy for jail cells
Even though the rooms were small, the bathroom was still a fine size. The beds were comfy for cell bunks. The breakfast was good. It was right on the water which was nice.
Great location, amazing, quirky accommodation. Cells cramped but that is part of the charm. One issue I had was that I stayed during a really warm spell and the rooms were quite stuffy with no air con. But it is a prison after all so you can't really complain.
Really small as a cell so a nice felling of being "in jail". Beautifull renovation : room and around
Too small but this is a cell so I liked that it is small ...
Nice, quite area,, 10min walk to subway. Good swedish breakfast.
Room was a bit hot in the summer, no ac, but thats common in sweden.
the bathroom, more space than the room
the room: I know it has been a cell, but is it really narrow. The noise: the doors slam very loud due to the dranglers. The neighborhood: the Island is not a neat park as promised (garbage all around), the beach is over crowded (when Sunny)
The location was gorgeous, surrounded by lush woods and next to a clean beach with a nice shallow incline to the sea. The hotel is not that close to the station but it is quite a pleasant walk. The building was beautiful, and the room was small but actually a bit larger than we expected - beds were comfy enough too. Our bathroom was quite large with a good shower. Lots of outside space for guests and indoor group rooms (which we didn't use, but they seemed to be handy for larger groups). Very chilled-out atmosphere; all the guests seemed to be enjoying themselves. Breakfast was fine and served till quite late.
When we asked on the first day if there was a boat to the island, we were told no, but there actually is a boat. This cost us at least an hour every day in extra travel time because the boat is so much quicker than any other way to Langholmen. The staff also didn't tell us a few other things until we heard about them from other guests, like the code to get into the museum out of hours, the way to the train station (we were told to follow the signs outside - they were all in Swedish), or that we had access to the seating section upstairs which looked blocked off. I'm left wondering if the hotel had other facilities we missed because for some reason we were expected to already know about them. However, the staff were otherwise helpful and pleasant, hence the rating being "good."
Awesome historic building and beautiful island of Långholmen to explore, by walking, jogging, kayaking or cycling. Sleeping in a converted prison cell was fun. Worth it just for that. Also very clean and wifi worked extremely well. The price also included a good breakfast.
It's a little walk (15 mins) to nearest metro station Hornstull, which is ok but a bit annoying with luggage. Still less than 30 minutes from Central station in total.
Good location: quite and not too far. Hotel restaurant is very fine and expensive but breakfasts included are nice, good quality and abundand. We had a veey pleasant stay. Thank you
The unusual rooms. I enjoyed staying in a cell. Everything was Clean and well presented The staff were very friendly and welcoming. wonderful surroundings
Noisy aircondition system which cannot be turned off
funky hotel and great restaurant
Staff quite abrupt at the main Bar and reception on arrival
friendly personnel, clean rooms, extraordinary surroundings, opulent and good-qualitiy breakfast-buffet, bike rental, beach sunset
takes a while to reach the center of Stockholm
The restaurant was great; the bed was firm and comfortable. Free WiFi, easy to access. Just a 10 min walk to a metro station, yet the island was very quiet at night.
I was using public transport and it was not obvious how to walk to the hotel.
Drain smells in shower
Staying in a converted prison is a great talking point. The museum is interesting. Rooms are comfortable with big windows. Loads of good food at breakfast. The island of Långholmen is green and pretty and it doesn't take long to walk into Sodermalm (10 mins) or across to Gamla Stan (45 mins).
I would've preferred it to have been even more like a prison! Including more prison-like things would make it even more fun e.g. if you order room service, they could slide it through a flap in the door. Or the soap they put in the bathroom could be left on the floor...
very clean, nice place. everything very nice. 1 only comment: the room is very small since it is a jail! but for 2 nights maybe it is not so comfortable.
Great hotel, converted prison, very unique, good fun
incredible place, good location, real experience...
The hotel was neat! My first visit to Stockholm and it will not be my last.
The fact that the restaurant was closed Sunday evening. I finished work late and had not eaten. That was the only negative point!!!
Welcoming and available staff Clean rooms Large choice at breakfast
WiFi connection is more than unpredictable and it is filtered! Only two towels in the bathroom and no shampoo or soap except for a dispenser... No real curtains, you wake up with the sun... A bit expensive for the location and equipments
