Reasonable price for central location in Gothenburg. Felt more like a youth hostel than a hotel. No real onpremise facilities apart from breakfast which was served in a corridor.

Is located in the center of the city. Very noisy during all night and the breakfast is unreal, the worst I have saw in many years.

Good breakfast included (and an early breakfast provided for early leavers), helpful staff - comfortable lounge with television, (swedish) papers and coffee. Convenient location near bus and railway staiton and close to city centre. Chinese and other resturants nearby. Near the trams so a little noisy when they went round the corner. Rooms on river side would probably have been quieter.

Location I would not say that this hotel is cheep when the fact of shared bathrooms are taken in to consideration. The shower rooms on the second floor had black mold between tiles and discusting diry floor wipers also with black mold on it.

Location in the city centre The hotel is in terrible need of a facelift. Having to share toilets and bathrooms with many other guests cannot be justified given such a high room rate.

Just two things are good staff and location. Rooms, hotel, comfort is really bad. Furniture is falling apart and I was in "superior" room. I would never recommend this hotel.

No frills, no hassle stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating helping. The breakfast was lovely a nice big buffet with loads of choice. I actually upgraded to en suite as did not spot the shared bathroom when I booked. I stayed with my wife who is 6.5 months pregnant and my 21 month old daughter. It was cosy and the room was of an ok standard considering the cost of hotels nearby. We only stayed one night though and you may kick yourself for not going for a more expensive room in another hotel if like us you have your hands full.

It was a good location. I wanted a cheap room and that is what I got. The bathrooms are separate and you get in by entering a combination in the door lock. The showers work fine, but the water lasts about 45 seconds before you have to press the on button again. The room was clean and not noisy. The bed was ok. The morning breakfast is included in the price and was also ok. It was pretty basic. Since I was paying about 70sek a night or more (about $110) it seemed expensive for what I got, but the price is pretty standard for Sweden. I got better value in a different hotel I stayed at in Stockholm.

Location is awesome. Probably the best in Göteborg The breakfast buffet was not as good as what expected according to other posts. It was average-minus (no croissant, no hot chocolate, only one kind of eggs, no bacon, etc.). The hotel is very expensive not to have one's own bathroom. Noisy day and night.

I would only recommend this hotel, because it's in the city-centre, The room was very small. The bathroom was like they had in hospitals in the 80's probably. Very loud due to trams and garbage disposal outside. It's very overpriced, even for Swedish standards.Breakfast is standard. I would only recommend this hotel, because it's in the city-centre, but then there are other hotels. Check out the novotel instead, Not very central, but connected to tram, and beautifully located in an old building next to the river. Seemed like more value for your money. The Palace/Robinson felt like a ripp-off.

The location was great. Right near the central station, and in the heart of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful also. Breakfast was ok, decent variety. Despite being in a very central location, there was very little noise. The hotel room was uncomfortably hot at night, making it very difficult to sleep.

We booked because we know the restaurant well, which is excellent, so we expected/assumed the hotel to be in the same vein. It isn'T. The only thing that we liked is that it is next to that wonderful restaurant. When you have dined in the restaurant, with gorgeous, modern Swedish food and an impressive wine list, enjoyed in that opulent setting of the old Grand Hotel style, the hotel is a massive let down. It feels like a budget back packer place. You can see the potential, but does the hotel management? Yes, it needs investment, but I think it would be worthwhile. There really is no excuse for tacky rooms, and sharing even tackier bathrooms. There is certainly no excuse for having to wait in the rain until some one finally opens the front door. The staff are nice and friendly enough, but that doesn't change the feel of a doss house. They apologize it is to safe guard 'good value', but is it? You can stay in lovely hotels in Goteborg, for the same, even less, and have a comfortable, nice room, with its own, modern bathroom and good facilities. I fear that laziness and complacency have crept in. As for that 'famous' breakfast... It is fine, but no better than elsewhere. It is time for Palace Hotel to catch up with the times. Why not check out how they run the restaurant. Ask them to have an honest look at the hotel. And for God's sake bring some soul and heart to the place. That doesn't cost money. A keen spirit can turn this place around. Now it is sad and dead.

The location is excellent, right in the centre of Gothenburg. Only a five minutes' walk from the railway station and less than that from the Brunnsparken square. The staff are really polite and helpful. The restaurant right next door to the hotel is very nice and popular at evenings. The rooms are a bit small and don't have private toilets or showers. There is noise from the Gothenburg trams as the very central Brunnsparken stop is located right next door, but this is easily helped with earplugs. The breakfast buffet is a bit bland, I would liked to have scrambled eggs and bacon, and croissants for afters. It looked like there is a whole wing of the hotel that isn't used for anything other than going to the breakfast buffet. Maybe the hotel has undergone renovations? Curiously, the hotel can't seem to make up its mind about whether it's called the Robinson or the Palace. =)
