This is a very good hotel with polite staff and a good buffet breakfast. room was well appointed and quite. Very good bathroom and shower. One of the best hotels I have stayed in while visiting Singapore The account they presented was much more expensive than the booking i made with booking.com even though I presented the voucher on check in. I had to negotiate for close to an hour on checking out and at the end I still was charged an approximately $80 above the quoted price. I would stay in this hotel again but I would not book with booking.com as the hotel does not honor their voucher prices.

Was pleasantly surprised with the new upgrade. Service from receptionist was very good and appreciated the room upgrade- was great! A bit pricey but highly recommend the new Premier wing Club rooms if you want a quieter corner of the hotel, has quality ammenities and super beddings that made for a very comfortable stay, and super good nites rest if you are there for a weekend break or shopping escape !

Good location ( opposite Raffles ). Adjoining rooms for family of 5. Good staff. Had stayed before which was a contributing factor to staying again.

The first room I was showed smelled strongly of smoke and the decor was more like a motel than a 4* hotel. It was also very noisy from the traffic. The rooms didn't seem to be double glazed. Noise from other rooms was also quite loud. Worst of all, there was drilling and hammering every morning as the old block I was staying in is being refurbished.

The location is perfect; hotel staff are all friendly and accommodating. I would classify this as a business hotel, however, the fact that they are charging for internet when the other hotels offer it for free would be discouraging. Likewise, regarding internet connection, it was not consistent and i would frequently get disconnected.

The location is excellent. Walking distance to all the main areas - chinatown, arab street, little India, riverside areas. The Carlton is right next to Raffles The hotel, staff, level of cleanliness and service has the air of total complacency - take it or leave it attitude. Singapore is still on the 'up' and the hotels have so much trade - you are of little or no consequence to them. Hotel rooms dated, carpets stained, bathroom cleaned only on the surface, check in and out process very impersonal. Loved location but next time would look for smaller, friendlier hotel nearby

Staff were always helpful and courteous. Hotel is kept clean and attractive. I specifically asked for a no-smoking room, but the first room I was assigned had smoke smell in it; I rejected the room, and a suitable room was provided, but it should have been provided originally. Perhaps the staff do not recognize the issue, as many people smoke in Singapore.

We were continually being disappointed so writing a "best" would not be appropriate. I have had many years of business travel. Late or No managerial follow upon complaints

The best thing about Carlton is the new Premier Wing. Actually, it is an entire block dedicated to Premier guests. It is much quieter than the older Carlton bldg. The Premier room decor and quality of the bedding, furnishings and toiletries can rival those found in Swissotel Stamford or Fairmont next door. The room is equipped with very comfy Sealy Posturepedic mattress, Herman Miller chair and Molton Brown toiletries. On the down side, the room rate was a bit expensive. I paid almost SGD440 per night (incl. taxes and charges), but that came with full buffet breakfast and access to the Premier Club lounge on the 19th floor with a beautiful view of Marina Bay. The staff and guest services weren't that great but it is ok and predictable. Staff were generally friendly and room service was quite responsive. The hotel's central location is really fantastic. Just across the road is Raffles City with all the nice amenities and eateries fully connected to Marina Centre/Suntec and on the east side a short walk towards Bugis Street Village. Couldn't get a better location than this. Besides, the hotel provides free parking, something many nearby hotels do not provide. E.g. Swissotel Stamford, Fairmont and Marina Mandarin do not provide free parking. So that is very convenient for those with cars! The one main thing I did not like is the breakfast buffet spread. It is quite limited with the same dishes almost everyday and the food did not taste really that great. This is a major minus for a hotel in a place like Singapore which is known for its wide choice of asian cuisine. And the food served at the Premier lounge is also not that great. They kept serving the same stuff almost everyday. They also had a limited drinks menu at the Premier lounge. Carlton should really do something about their food menu.

The space in the bedroom was great. The foyer/entrance to the Carlton is grand. The staff are polite and obliging to help. Would like to have wifi available in the original (older) rooms of the hotel instead of only accessing this service in the foyer.

Good Location. The online hotel presentation on several websites was very good and the facilities, rooms aspect and location lead to Carlton as the choice for the stay in Singapore from a list of three potential hotels within same area and inside same targetted price level. Unfortunately the room facilities and conditions offered were not as expected /described, to mention few: - Hotel room need renovation, renewal of decoration, painting and room accessories (look old/used). - The drain in the sink was bit rusty. - Bad smell was coming from the drain system, from the bathroom. Probably next time I will choose a hotel more recently built/renovated.

Located oppsite Raffles the Carlton is in an excellent location to access many different areas of Singapore and close to the mtr if public transport is needed. Clarke Quay, and the cbd are a mere 10minute walk away as is Fort Canning Park. The Premium Rooms are first class, great size, extremely comfortable and have good views depending on which side of the building you are. The pool and gym are excellent with plenty of room and are very well maintained. In summary this hotel provides excellent value for money particularly in terms of location.
