The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is good being in an interesting and old part of the city.
The room was quite small and not much room to store anything. Not a place to stay for any length of time.
1. room size. 2.no place for putting things in the bathroom.
Staff, very helpful and polite.
Breakfast. No choice.
Location Nice bed n bathroom Complete toiletteries
Very very small room with very unconviniently kept coffee maker, safe locker and freeze
Great location, friendly staff, allowed us early checkin, room was small but I booked the room with a verandah so we could at least sit outside
Breakfast was average, bed wasn't very comfortable
Affordable Relatively close to 2 MRT stations Looks young
Very small room but this is what you get when you travel on a budget.
The staff very friendly and nice. Breakfast was okay.
The room was very small with no storage space.
Very clean and new. Free breakfast was a bonus. TV reception was very good. Bathroom very modern and nice.
Room very very small. We felt claustrophobic and there wasn't enough space for our bags and things.
Breakfast was out of my expectation, staff were helpful. Good location, not too far from the MRT stations, easy to get late dinner/snacks at night nearby. Clean room.
The room is a bit small, don't expect your can put you luggage everywhere, the room has not enough space to do that.
Room a bit small
location food room
-location, near to MRT stations -friendly and very helpful staff -breakfast -good value for the money we paid -comfort in the room
-rooms a bit small and thats it everything else was good
It was a good location for the MRT, the Mustafa shopping center, china town and little India.
Place barely had any facilities. Definitely better hotel options in the city.
Room size was very tiny for the amount of money that was charged
The advanced technologies
Excellent staff be it reception staff or café staff. Totally enjoyed the breakfast for both mornings. Free mini bar for the first night!
Tiny bathroom. Shower head is right on top of the ceiling. The whole bathroom will be wet once you take shower.
The Staff and breakfast..
The hot hallway going to my room.
I m a local n i go on staycations often. i like j8 the best for coming up tops in cleanliness, comfort and modernity. I got room 412 with a patio. It is very small but very cosy with day curtains, blackout curtains and a privacy blind for the patio. Makes you feel like you are sitting in a tiny box for two with all the curtains and blind down! Its an awesome setting for sipping champagne with the night breeze coming from the side wedge of the patio where I didn draw down the blind. We are in a great location for excellent food that locals frequent. Two doors away from hotel are the famous Chinese restaurants on adjoining Maude Road; min chung, selling Chinese Hakka specialities and wan he lou, selling Chinese Cantonese dishes. The hotel is located in the middle of a sandwich between bugis and little india. both are history enclaves of hundreds years of age located within easy walking distance. Bugis has an impressive array of excellent Malay halal food, Kampong Glam where the heritage Sultan Mosque is, Bugis Street for cheap shopping and its own Haji lane which is a famous hipster shopping street with quirky shops. Little India has Mustafa, a 24 hour mammoth shoping centre cum supermarket, several lovely shops selling spices and nasi bryani - a lovely Indian dish of basmati rice and meat curry. Walking through the little streets of Bugis and Little India glimmering in their shophouses from another era is a feast for the eyes. We returned after calling a night of shopping and eating and had a most wonderful night of rest in the quiet room that was facing the back of a row of shophouses on a small backstreet.
The bed is alright but the pillows could be better in terms of neck support. The food provided for the breakfast was free flow of toasted bread, coffee and tea, but one fixed Western breakfast set per guest consisting of a sausage, a slice of ham, excellent scrambled eggs, tomatoes and cucumbers. The slow toaster didn work very well in heating the bread and the quality of sausages and ham could be improved. My first impression of the hotel when I entered the lobby was watered down with an overly powering fragrance of a bathroom air freshener and Titanic playing from the hotel cafe that resembles an airconditioned coffeeshop in the afternoon. Since the cafe is named after the hotel, it could have played more welcoming or loungy music.
Pefect location Fair price Great staff room was a bit small however was perfect for what we needed
Very clean and Staff were always very helpful. Breakfast included as well. Room was tiny but had a balcony and all mod cons. Bed was very comfortable and lots of hot water in the shower. Good value for SIngpore. Cabs were the best transport as the MRT was not handy. But lots of eateries nearby as well as the restaurant at the hotel. Staff were always helpful when we requested directions. A guest took our small bag by mistake with his luggage and the staff did their best to find out what happenend. The bag was returned later that day - all ended well.
Needed some shelves or a small cupboard for unpacking. It was like living in a small motor home - but they do have cupboards. Recommend guests take a map of the hotel (available in lobby) to give cab drivers as they have never head of J8 Hotel.
clean, location close to Little India, secure & safe
US$110 for a tiny/very small (~7sqm) window-less room is not good value compared to similarly priced options in Singapore (don't book the 'superior room' if you want a window). Staff forgot our 6.30am wake-up call (had to catch a plane at 9.40am) - unprofessional and potentially a huge inconvenience if relying on their call). Breakfast only from 7am. No tea/coffee facilities in to room (but free soft drink and water) - will look for alternatives next time
Location Service Clean and Tidy Comfy bed
Room was very small and had no window. Suggest you check what you have booked.
The room was very clean, and the hotel overall was in a very good condition, very modern.
The room was very small.
Was a small hotel which made it easier for us as we had elderly mother with us. She felt safe enough to go to restaurant on her own. We had a patio balcony room which was a good size, mum had deluxe silver which would have been a bit small for two people. The staff were excellent. There were plenty of places to eat in easy walking distance. Was the real Singapore not touristy area so much cheaper to eat. Breakfast supplied in hotel was fine for us, one choice but if you didn't like that you could have toast or porridge instead.
Was a bit far from mrt. Farrer or lavender were about 10 minute walk, ok for us but bit far for mum.
