Mandarin Orchard Singapore  

The location is great! Right smack in the middle of the shopping district with mrt close by.

Things in the room are falling apart. Plumbing and electrical problems. Bedside reading lamps are pathetic and not functional at all. Major repair works took place in the afternoon on a weekend and created loud noise which made it uncomfortable to stay in the room. Trying to nap was impossible. When my wife rasied this matter with the Duty Manager, it was greeted with disbelief and and was made to feel that what she raised could not be true. However, a fruit platter was sent to our room by the dm (unsolicited) and a note of apology for the inconvenience created.

LOCATION: Right in the middle of Orchard, next to Takashimaya Department Store/Ngee Ann City and Paragon shopping complex. It is also within walking distance to MRT stations (Orchard and Somerset) and Mount Elizabeth Hospital. The room in the main tower, although a bit old, was spacious and comfortable. The overall service and staff was excellent.

The bathroom amenities were basic and limited, unlike many other hotels of the same class.

I love that most of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I gave my room preferences and I got everything I asked for! The rooms are very clean and homey.

One of the staff brushed me off when I asked about the tour guide. Fortunately, another staff helped me and explained to me that tour guides usually go down to fetch tourists but there are times when they stay in the bus and wait. This was very useful because if I stayed and waited and relied on the first staff, the tour guide would have left us.

Overall the rooms are a bit tired, showing their age and amount of use. In room facilities eg air con; ironing table, hair dryer fall short of good quality. In my view more 4* by Singapore standards.

The check-in was very quick and smooth. After a night-time flight and arriving at the hotel just after 7 A.M. the room that had not been booked from the previous night was made ready for occupation within the hour after our arrival. We generally stay at the Mandarin mainly due to the location and this is the first time that a room was ready to move into so soon after arrival. Keep it up mandarin!

It is consistently excellent in every respect. That says it all!

Its strategic location on orchard road. Very happening area. Got free upgrade.. Huge rooms.. Excellent bed.. Very nice hotel. Will definately rebook myself again if i visit singapore

The room design is old fashion, in the main building no view from the rooms!! The ac is noisy at night.

I waited quite long just to get myself to be attended to check in. There are no systematic as in how the queue be. Some guest just cut queue and the receptionist said it is a small issue, it will be quick. But it is not a matter or small or big. It is still cutting queue. That's really annoys me.

Its position

The reception when we arrived. Despite booking and paying for our room there was doubt there was a room available. Aftewr being offered a smoking room we were offered what we had booked and paid for. There were no issues with the rest of the stay.

Location is centralized. Concierge & front counter service commendable.

Carpet & fixtures too old,esp carpet needed to be replaced. Aircond need to be revamped as d air not fresh.

The location. It is near Takashimaya, paragon and Somerset 313. Perfect for shopping. The beds were comfortable.

Internet is not free and quite expensive. The hotel doesn't have a five stars feel to it. It was dark, gloomy, room was uninviting both in design and ambiance. Be carefully, windows can be opened easily.
