The location Their check in process was poor. The girl at reception charged my 4 times for my security deposit. It should have been sgd 300 but she charged this 4 times instead of just once. She said that the first 3 transactions were declined so I rang my bank in Australia querying why these transactions were declined and they told me they all successfully went through. I was told by the bank that the hotel needs to send a fax to my bank asking for a reversal on the 3 incorrect charges. The hotel kept denying that they had charged me and after about 3 hours of complaining to the hotel did they make any effort to fix this for me. The hotel charged me for my phone calls to the bank for their error. Really bad handling and I won't stay there again nor recommend this hotel. Also they said that if I wanted wifi I would need to upgrade my room for another sgd 60 extra per night - the wifi barely worked and was a complete waste of time and money as I used the plug in internet connection anyway that was in the room that I booked.

The location and facility meet with our purpose to sg. Near every place we would like to go and to see When I'm checked out, actually the staff at lobby should cancelled my credit card deposit, because we didn't use it. But they didn'T. With one explanation, they will. But right that moment they're too bussy to look for it because of many checked out guest. It's international regulation, and if they do the archive better, then they could find it a s a p as they find our bill. Be careful with it

Nothing was as good as I expected. You ask for ice to drink cold drinks in your room they ask for money where as in other hotels they provide you with ice daily even without asking for it. The gift voucher of 30 s$ was useless with the terms & conditions applied by the hotel .

The hotel was in a good location, other than that it had nothing else to offer! Staff were very unfriendly and didn't go out of there way to help! Very expensive $13 for a beer!!!

The location is great! Right smack in the middle of the shopping district with mrt close by. Things in the room are falling apart. Plumbing and electrical problems. Bedside reading lamps are pathetic and not functional at all. Major repair works took place in the afternoon on a weekend and created loud noise which made it uncomfortable to stay in the room. Trying to nap was impossible. When my wife rasied this matter with the Duty Manager, it was greeted with disbelief and and was made to feel that what she raised could not be true. However, a fruit platter was sent to our room by the dm (unsolicited) and a note of apology for the inconvenience created.

I was extremely disappointed by all aspects of the hotel; but most of all by the hygiene levels, and overall poor condition of the hotel. Staff was not well trained, and not up to par for a so called 5-star hotel. It took a total of 2 hours to get checked in to a proper room - this was the beginning of a nightmare experience at this hotel. Our first room had an overwhelming pungent, toxic smell making it uninhabitable. After calling the reception to inform them of the problem, and request a different room, they informed us that someone would be up immediately with a new key to escort us to a different room. 20 minutes passed, and still noone had arrived. I called the reception again, and they seemed completely unaware of the room change, and their promise to send someone up. I ended up having to go down to speak to the duty manager. This whole process took another hour, as we were first moved to another room with the same horrid smell. Our next room had a nail on the floor, and a large amount of hair on the floor in the bathroom - the hygiene level can only be described as repugnant. I have no idea how this hotel has managed to obtain a 5-star rating - it should have no more than 3 stars. With the disgusting level of hygiene, an overall poor condition of the hotel and improperly trained staff, we decided not to ruin our entire stay in Singapore, and checked out promptly in the morning after only having stayed in the hotel a mere 10 hours. The only appeal of this hotel, should anyone decide to stay there, would be its central location on Orchard Road, in the middle of a shopping area, with your run-of-the-mill boutiques you will find in any city of the world.

The location & the Staff. The Concierge staff were very helpful & accomodating. I particularly liked the location because it is on the center of everything. There were no seats at the lobby. And the atmosphere at the lobby was not welcoming at all. We also have to pay for ice cubes when in all the hotels I've been it was always free of charge. The price of the hotel is too expensive for the amenities they offer.

The position is its main attraction. The Room was average & greatly over priced at $2076 for 4 days- specially as we arrived at 4am on day 1. There were insufficent draw s available & none on the bedside unit. For over 80 year olds- it was hard to get out of the bath after showering-- inadequate rails available.

Mandarin Orchard does not have any kind of chairs at the hotel lobby. This means that meetings can only be conducted at the hotel coffee house, or at the conference room for a fee.

I found the staff were excellent very helpful and there were always a number of concierge type staff waiting in the reception area who ran to your needs and, doormen to get you a taxi, We were given an upgrade as it was very full and had a very large room with king size heavenly bed and heavenly pillows.Breakfast was excellent and having travelled many times to Singapore would only stay here as location, service, room ,cleanliness and value for money was excellent The only thing we did not like is they do not have free internet and wifi and the tv in room we had was in a cabinet which did not swivel so we could not see the tv from the bed as it faced the couch

Arguably, this hotel has the best location of all the hotels along Orchard road. It would be the most convenient location for shoppers as well as business travellers wishing to do a bit of rushed shopping. I have stayed here many times and continue to stay only because of its location despite everything else being quite poor. I did not like the rooms. They are old and worn. The beds in twin configurations are small and narrow like bunks. There are no separate shower cubicles in standard rooms and they still use that outdated hair-dryer on a flexible hose stuck to the wall - it is invariably broken. Breakfast is a nightmare. Good food but too busy. I didn't like the stressed out ushers that seemed ready to reprimand guests should one step out of line. My usher lost track of the vacant tables and had trouble finding me one. The rest of the personnel are great but I marked down staff rating because of the ushers at breakfast. I also didn't get any hand and face towels. Housekeeping told me they had run out and cleared towels I had hung to keep. I would still recommend this hotel but with heavy caveats on expectations.

The room has been renovated with much better interior and furniture. I love the bathroom also. Not to mentioned it is surrounded by fine restaurants and boutiques in the gallery. Not bad at all. It is kind of expensive, I think.

The location is perfect for shopping. At the very 1st day when I checked in Room 2335 from 13-17/12/2011, the restroom hairdryer was broken. The refrigerator was not cool at all. The engineer did replace the new one for me. But the new refrigerator was very very dirty. Several mass of dust crowded on the refrigerator door. Lot of stains also stick on the bathtub surface. I did complain all of these to the Duty Manger (Pearlyn Koh). I will come back at the end of Dec again and hope not face all these problems again. If I face them again, it will be the last stay of mine in Mandarin Orchard Singapore. Thank you for your attention and improvement (hope so).
