Overall friendly staff Aside from the lack of elevators, which can be a huge problem for guests with medical conditions or disabilities assigned rooms on the top floor; I’d say the biggest problem with this hotel is rats. I stayed with my wife and four little kids at loft b; an open attic-style space, billed online as a “family room”. With low-sloping ceilings, I bumped my head quite a number of times, while trying to stand up straight, or to find my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Right from the outset, we noticed that more than half the closets are filled with very old and dusty dossiers, folders and files dating back to as early as the 1980s. We suspected they might house few insects, and did see an occasional cockroach here or there. But, the drama reached an all time high just as we were getting ready to go to bed for our last night at Perak. We saw a little mouse cruising freely between the cabinets and the kitchen. All attempts by the night shift manager to catch it failed, and so did the two sticky mouse traps he left behind. Despite staff apologies, and the 10% discount off our checkout bill on the next morning, we didn’t feel adequately compensated for the lack of sleep, and wrecked nerves just as we were getting ready for our flight. Hotel management can do future guests service by honestly advertising room conditions & capacities, and by doing a better job fighting rodent and insects infestations.

Location in little India, a vibrant area. Fairly close to Mrt. Friendly efficient service. Breakfast reasonable considering price. Our room was on the side of building. Very noisy from adjacent buildings. Tues night there was a music festival or wedding event that went on till 03.30 am. Rooms v cramped , we knew that when we booked

Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful Got severely bitten by bedbugs after spending three nights here. The room appeared ok but woke up one morning to find nearly 100 bites on my face, back, hand and side. The staff did appear concerned when the complaint was pointed out but that did little for the discomfort suffered.

I am afraid none of the above points are relevant. We went to Singapore because we wished to get to know the people, the place and the fact that in this world of misunderstandings, we thought your society gives a very good example of civilised behaviour. We still think so. We had no previous knowledge of your hotel and "discovered" it, in a hurry, in internet. Singapore, we think, is great. Only a little too much stressed in the comercial angle. For example, the Chinese/japanese gardens we found , the most beautiful part of Singapore, your gardens, landscaping too, and little is said about this in your propaganda. We stayed 6 days and hope to return to Singapore. Not a complaint. Our room was too small for comfort, but we think you have put a lot of effort to compensate that. Your lighting in the room should , we think, be a little stronger, to allow better reading light. A small fridge would make a big difference. Your staff is excelent. In the reception, Mike, and the lady accountant, Ben who looked after our room and the lady who prepared the breakfast. We thought the room was small, but did not even attempt to change anything because of the attention of your staff. May we take this oportunity to thank your staff and wish your hotel all the best of luck.

Good location at the edge of little India, near a couple of MRT stations. Friendly staff. Not bad value for money in an expensive city. Noisy at night - noise from both inside and outside the hotel - earplugs necessary for a good night's sleep.

The Perak was a lovely traditional building in a relatively quiet location despite a nearby main road and massive railway workings! The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel true value for money.

The location in Little India, near the shops and within easy walking distance of Mustafa'S. Near Sim Lim square. Comfortable beds and a nice continental breakfast buffet. We stayed in two different rooms a week apart. Both rooms were "superior". We had some initial problems with the bookings, as they charged the first night when we booked it - only one went through, though we used the same credit card. The rooms are advertised with large windows that can be opened. What is does not say is that the windows cannot be closed properly and therefore do not shut out street noise. One room faced the back of the hotel, where all the ari conditioners are placed and the bathroom was open to the outside and it was really hot in there. In the same bathroom, you had to walk through the shower to get to the toilet. Both rooms had DVD-player, neither of which worked.

The hotel is well located and the staff are friendly and polite. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider the hotel again if returning to Singapore. Breakfast is simple but serviceable and the area is great for quick food and good atmosphere. The rooms are small, which means not much space for three adults and their luggage. However we used the space well and the hotel was very accommodating when we neede to store luggage.

I enjoyed the Little India District There were thousands of small bugs in the tiny, cramped room. I thought it was very expensive for what you got. The beds were small and hard, the pillows were like large stone boulders. The toilet leaked so the bathroom floor was always soaked. The room was very noisy at night.

The staff was quite helpful and ready to respond to all our request and freely provide information. The hotel has some short of colonial charm. It is a very simple hotel for the price but then again acommodation in Singapore is generally expensive. Breakfast is pretty basic.

Convenient location, easy walking distance to two mrt stations. Historic Little India location has a lot of character. Friendly staff, simple basic breakfast included. Free wifi in public areas and some rooms.Room was small with good wardrobe but lacked shelves/drawers. Reasonably quiet air conditioning. Rooms are a bit small and basic but the price reflects this. No lift so if you happen to be on the upper floor this could be a problem. Very limited choice of tv channels. Some rooms have obscured and fixed windows.

Clean tidy accommodation in a central location We stayed in a ground floor room with a window largely covered over. This made the room dark and we had to have the light on most of the time, Upper floor rooms have windows out on to the street.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I recommend staying at the Perak, and I would certainly stay there again. The simplicity of the hotel was quite relaxing. Its not 5 star, but more home stay style living. Rooms were cleaned every day and a light breakfast was offered (things like boiled eggs, noodles, toast, fruit and cereal were on offer)
