Hotel Royal  

The hotel is recently expanded and we stayed at 16th floor with new interior and equipment. The facility is good, I like the big TV, bar facility, bathroom. However I didnot get the double bed as I requested before, so the two nights spent with the twin beds only. We are mostly spending time out of hotel with family, so the offer from the manager, this is appreciated; to switch it into double bed for the next day has never been fulfilled. Last but not least I like the hotel front lobby area with pond and fishes; just suggestion to put more plants surrounding the pond up to the stairs. This is nice area. The waiting chairs in the lobby is quite welcome so we can wait family members over here to save time before leaving for leisure time.

It is hoped they could reserve my request long before because they have already taken my first night payment through credit card long before we arrived. Just for note; the customer request is to be noted and fulfilled; I dont think they have noted it, because they didnot mention it when check in process and I just surprised when I got into the bedroom.

Only good thing to say is that your aircon was efficient and the bed fairly comfortable.

I did leave your coomments card when I checked out and if your staff did not just throw it away!! then you should see most comments of them made are negative ones. Firstly I must tell you that your hotel was not my first choice as I would normally stay at the Traders Hotel, or others, but, due to some high demand, then they were fully booked for the nights I wished to stay for business reasons. I was told by a business colleague's secretary that your hotel may have a room, yes you did (one only) and this was booked for me via internet. The attitude of your staff was not all that welcoming and the check-in was very slow, even though I was the only person at the desk. I asked about Internet access and was told I could purchase access (most hotels these days offer it FREE) and so I purchased 24 hours. I WAS NOT informed that this was literally 24 hours with the clock counting, and so even when you log off, the time still reduces. To me this is taking undue advantage of your customers and you are acting like "Somali Pirates". I came back to my room (1615) late evening after a busy business day only to find I had no internet access! I refused to even consider purchasing more. Also, I was asked at time of check-out if I had used the mini bar!!! You as a hotel have re defined the word MINI. All that it contained was two bottles of: Coke, Green Tea, Beer and Water, all at extortionate prices. All I wanted was some orange juice but was told I must buy it from your Coffee House. They quoted me Sing Dollars 5,30 for a small glass. I went down the road to the shopping mall and bought 2 ltrs for $4.30!, plus two bottles of mineral water for $0.60 each!! I can confirm that I will not be using your hotel again, nor will I recommend you to my buisness colleagues. Sorry to be so negative, but I am a regular worldwide business tarveller and always make comments (good or bad) when I feel necessary.

Breakfast adequate for a days holiday travelling and only a short walk from Newton food court (careful to know the prices) and the subway which is very easy and cheap to use. The staff were friendly and helpful - was a good stay for us and would consider using again.

Our lock stopped working on the second last day and we had keys re issued seven times which was annoyng - but the staff were friendly and did attempt to fix the problem very quickly each time. Was a battery problem with the lock.

The renovated room was very nice.

We booked 2 twin rooms which we received. However, both cost the same daily rate but one was of a much superior quality than the other. We did book 2 deluxe rooms so I don't think one was a free upgrade. Limited room service menu.

Price, location, availability of taxis and friendly staff.

Room is not well tidied....housekeeping is weak. Booking via booking.com included breakfast, but hotel did not agree to provide breakfast as booked. It was also very strage that I booked it under my name, but when we arrived, the booking and documents were under my wife's name!

A swimming pool and breakfast, ac. Unfortunatly a tv seems necessary in Singapore where things are expensive so staying in the room out of the heat was a necessity as well as getting over the jetlag. It was a short walk to United and Novena buildings where there are food halls where one pays the same price as the locals, there was a variety of food I had some from Korea. The door man was very helpful with transport buses ect and the reception staff helped me to decide on using the mrt back to Changi the journey took 1 hr 10 mins and I was a bit late as it is a long way to the check in and directions are not that good. So one needs about 2 to 3 hrs to get to the airport and check in. The pool was good and cool but a bit on the small side. No bed bugs and slept ok even though I could hear the traffic noise down below. Singapore was always more expensive than neighboring countries I had not been here for 19 yrs and the price of the hotel and it's poor condition was a lesson I could have done without. But that's Singapore it was always a place to avoid. I could have been happy with the hotel had the price been about gbp25 to 30.

There was a limit of 18.00 for checking in which I just noticed on the booking com web page. It seems unecessary to have that limit. I did not find directions to the hotel except on the web. At Changi the bus numbers were not those that went past the hotel. The mrt was a mystery, I'd forgotten what it was like 19 yrs and more ago when I was often in Singapore, and things change. I didn't make up my mind to go until the Sunday before the Tues of departure and I was fed up of looking at misleading stuff on the internet. The price was very high for an old hotel a bit out of town (Orchard Rd area). I did not like the idea of the credit card having a pending transaction over which I had no control. The place had the well used look and I thought that GBP 25 to 30 was appropiate not GBP 100. I choose it because on the web it was one with breakfast and a swimming pool which I need to get rid of backache. Singapore was always more expensive than neighboring countries I had not been here for 19 yrs and the price of the hotel and it's used but clean condition was a lesson I could have done without. But that's Singapore it was always a place to avoid. I have just stayed in another hotel in Phuket and even though it is newish I found it expensive at GBP 70 maybe I'm out of date, whatever, it won't stop me from not coming.

Excellent value for money in a budget priced hotel. Everything in Singapore is a taxi ride due to the high humidity. This hotel is 5 mins taxi from Orchard Rd (sin$5). The rooms are clean and well air conditioned. They come with a small fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a digital safe for your valuables.

They had a vacancy when no other hotels in the area did.

The cost of the room did not match the room quality and the location is about 35 minutes from the airport.

Size and facilities in the room ... great to have a place to work and relax and not just for sleep and shower ... also a nicely designed room. Location of the hotel is a BIG plus.

Problems with check-in .... delayed because of computer downtime ... but not too inconvenient ... staff worked well at dealing with the situation. Breakfasts are excellent but over priced ... would have been a nice touch if included in the room price. The biggest downside of the hotel ... especially when on a business stopover ... cost of internet ... would appreciate it being included with other utilities ... hotel does not charge separately for water and electricity .... and the internet is just another utility service. Compromise might be free wifi in the lobby/restaurant area Difficult to get taxis outside the hotel ... same problem at previous stays at this hotel. I've stayed at this hotel previously and will probably do so again providing the price is right.

one of the worst hotel in Singapore where I had stayed. Specially rooms are very dirty and smelling , bathroom is very small in area and behavior of the staffs is not up to the mark.Absolutely not a good hotel in this budget to stay.

Too few tv channels. No espn, StarMovies like channels. Only cnn available. Some channels have lots of interference.
