House Iaquin

This was a beautiful hotel, set amongst the vineyards in Slovenia, close to the Italian border. It was stylish and modern and the owner was fantastic. Breakfast was wonderful and included local specialities. Home produced wine was also available to buy. We loved this hotel and intend to return!

We really enjoyed our stay at House Iaquin. The setting is stunning, nestled in the little village of Vipolze, surrounded by vineyards and fruit trees. Nearby (not quite walkable) you will find the towns of Medana and Dobrovo, which both offer great opportunities for wine tasting and eating lovely food. Indeed Uros, the owner of Iaquin, makes wine himself, which we sampled a couple of glasses of - and decided was delicious enough to buy a bottle to take home. The house itself is very modern with minimalist design and clean edges. The balconies all overlook the pool and the vineyards beyond it. We were crazy enough to swim in the pool despite it being cold due to a lot of recent rain and it was surprisingly refreshing (once the initial shock had died down!) to swim in the cool water whist looking out over the vines. The breakfast was particularly delicious with the usual meats & cheese supplemented by pancakes & strudel. Uros was a great host - he gave us loads of suggestions for places to eat and drink locally and even made a reservation for us and checked that a taxi would be available for us as the local area was busy with a festival the weekend we were there. I would highly recommend this place if you want to explore the wine region of Goriska Brda.

Nothing! You do really need a car for this area though as no restaurants/bars in immediate village - but plenty in nearby Medana & Dobrovo. We walked into Medana (40 mins uphill!) for dinner and then got taxi back. Taxi seemed quite expensive (as it was a festival weekend perhaps). Design might be too stark & minimalist for some people's tastes - but the photos are very representative so you know what to expect.

Friendly and helpful owner with many suggestions for the area. Combination of outdoor deck, swimming pool and vineyard views is a beautiful way to enjoy an afternoon with some of Iaquin's wines.

We loved our stay at House Iaquin. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and offers great wine made by his family. Breakfast was great. Hotel surrounding is amazing.

Our GPS could not find the address, so it might be wise to read the instructions before leaving. Or maybe get newer maps.

Enthusiastic, interested, friendly and knowledgeable hosts eager to share local knowledge and offer samples of wine made on the premises and the wider region. Excellent breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble even in the middle of the grape harvest.

Very stylish and modern decoration, everything was new, white and clean. The view was beautiful from the balcony, right to the grapeyards. The owner was very service minded young guy who also makes his own wines (we were tasting the wines in the evening in the garden right by the pool). Breakfast was excellent, served to the table by request. Not a big buffet, but everything tasted excellent, much better than normal buffet breakfast.

Maybe for our taste the decoration was even too modern and white :-), but that is not a minus, only a matter of taste. For restaurants/food you have to drive few kilometres.

Wir waren begeistert. Abgesehen von der superschöne Lage und dem coolen Ambiente - war das Service des Besitzers sehr sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit.

Kleines Haus mit 5 Zimmern; neu; schönes Design; ruhig; schöner Garten mit Pool; mitten in den Weinbergen, eigene Weine; 100m von der ital. Grenze entfernt;

Fehlende Sitzmöglichkeiten am Balkon; tlw. Mangelnde Sauberkeit - auf weißen Böden & Wänden sieht man eben alles (Spinnweben, Haare); gutes, jedoch jeden Tag gleiches Frühstück (2 Semmeln/Weißbrot, 1 Stk. Kräuteromelett, 2 Sorten Marmelade, 2 Palatschinken, 3 Sorten Schinken/Speck, Orangen- und Pfirsichsaft + Kaffee, 1 Kuchen (der war jeden Tag anders!); obwohl das Haus neu ist, sind tlw. Schon "Schäden" ersichtlich: bröckelnder Verputz, die lockere Planken der Holzterrasse

Kleines, familiäres Haus mit mit sehr zuvorkommenden Wirt/Winzer in reizvoller Umgebung. Kulinarische Genüsse kann man in unmittelbarer Umgebung genießen.

Alles!! Die Lage ist wunderschön,leider konnten wir das nicht geniesen, da wir geschäftlich unterwegs waren.Für Radfahrer, Wanderer und Gourmet Genieser (wunderbare Restaurents in nächster Nähe) bester Platz

Absolut ruhige Lage einige Meter von der italienischen Grenze entfernt. Gestyltes Zimmer. Die Form ist wichtiger als die Funktion. Die Wegbeschreibung des Besitzers zu den Restaurants besser auf einer Skizze feshalten, das Gemeindegebiet ist gross, und die Kirche als Orientierungspunkt ist bald nicht mehr sichtbar.

Als kleine Konzession an die puristische Einrichtung würde ich zum Aufhängen der Badetücher eine Stange montieren.

Bed and Breakfast a pochi metri dal confine italiano, immerso nei vigneti in posizione molto tranquilla. Le camere sono spaziose, compresi I bagni, e sono arredate con grande gusto in stile moderno. Il proprietario, gentilissimo e sempre disponibile a consigliare cosa visitare nel territorio, produce anche dei favolosi vini. Consigliatissimo!!!

Piccolo albergo di 5 stanze arredate in stile moderno, minimalista situato nel Collio Sloveno, ottimo per visitare I dintorni. Bellissima la vista sui vigneti dalle camere! Colazione super!

Feine Location, extrem freundlicher Gastgeber, absolut ruhig und idyllisch gelegen, sehr, sehr sauber, Top Frühstück. Weinverkostung mit exzellenten Weinen aus dem Haus ebenso möglich. Sehr gutes Fischrestaurant in Medana, gleich in der Nähe!

Sehr schönes design, freundliche mitarbeiter, schöner blick auf den weingarten und sehr gutes und liebevoll zubereitetes frühstück!!!
