Unique experiences - owner is an MD and excellent host. Helped arranged our trip to Copan ruins with door to door transport. Cold beer and nice home booked meal at the hotstel. Truly enjoyed the homestay experiences.

Location is a bit out of the city. Make sure the taxi drive knows where the hostel is to avoid confusion. There's no hostel sign at the front gate so you can only go by address. (it's only 25 cents to take a bus to the city)

Eduardo and his family are very friendly and help you organise all the activities around San Salvador. Breakfast is excellent! They also provide free drinkable water. The room is very comfortable with a huge double bed and cable TV. The beds are really, I mean really, comfortable! There is a good hot shower. Really peaceful and quiet area.

There aren't any restaurants or cafés in this neighborhood so you have to take a taxi or bus each time you want to have dinner or order take away food. Anyway, it's only a 10 minutes drive from the hostel.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hostal Dona Marta. Eduardo, the owner, was great to deal with and the staff was friendly as well. This is a family environment and is not in a dangerous neighborhood. The staff was friendly and for the price this place cannot be beat. I plan to stay there in the future. It is very helpful if you can speak Spanish, but not a requirement. I did not have A/C in my room but for the price I was very satisfied.

Very interactive and helpful staff. Felt like we were at friend's house. Location was between historical and museum area and both were easy to acceas with local bus just in front of the Hostel.

I like their customer service. The breakfast is really good. And if you need something they do the best to help you with. In my case I forgot my toothbrush and Mr Eduardo did help as soon I requested .

    Nothing.

The staff was so incredibly hospitable and friendly. They helped us find out way around the whole city, and set up any tour we wanted to go on.

    Very friendly staff, fine breakfast.

The garden cannot really be used; the terrace is very small.

The owners were lovely, we don't speak a word of Spanish and they don't speak English, but they were really lovely. This seemed to a theme in El Salvador. Breakfasts were beautiful, we could walk to the bus stop, the room was huge, no problems at all. Read more on our website World Travel Family Getting to here from the airport in the middle of the night was no problem.

The bed was a bit hard ( and I've never, ever commented on bed comfort before) I was a bit uncomfortable. But no biggy really.

I cannot say enough about the hospitality of Eduardo, Kricia, and the rest of the family. They were always ready to help with directions, advice about bus connections, and recommendations for sight-seeing. Breakfast was delicious, the room was huge, and the location was convenient. I will be back.

I can say it was the ideal hostel. Cozy and well maintained room, good location, every day changing included breakfast...but fisrt of all, this hostel has the best owner. He asked me where I wanna go, and explain how I can go there by public(safe and cheap) transportations, and attractions inside SS. And breakfast, it was better than restaurant.

Perfect. I wanna go SS again because of this hostel.

I had a really nice stay at Dona Marta. It was comfortable and friendly and easy to relax there. I enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice in the morning as well. It's really one of the nicest places I have stayed.

Eduardo and Kricia are incredibly welcoming and helpful, making it nice start of months long trip. The room was super clean and spacious and very tranquil. Breakfast was excellent. The location is not near to anything, but nothing is in San Salvador, as it's so spread out. The Bus was close by and was really easy and frequent to catch anywhere you want to go... and Eduardo and Kricia will help you with everything.

This place has super-friendly owners who provided us with a really useful city map, helped treat my wife's injured finger, provided us with a great 3-dollar dinner when we were too tired to go out and advised on which buses to catch. Breakfast was varied and served with a generous glass of fresh orange juice and a coffee.

Hostel can be hard to find, but the map on this website is super-accurate. Print or grab a copy of this map, you'll be fine. Hostel isn't marked though, you need to ring the intercom on the wall where house number 1B is displayed.

Nice rooms with good beds, extremely helpful and friendly owners that give you a lot of information and advice, great breakfast and excellent Wifi connection - overall a great value. Frequent bus connections to points of interest.

Only drawback for me was that at first it was very hard to find (phoning them helped the taxi driver, while asking people on the streets did not).

Everything. Eduardo and Kricia are amazing hosts, doing everything to make sure that the guests are comfortable. The location is very good, in a safe residential area only 10 minutes (and 20 cents) away from the historic center by bus. The room was very nice, with cable tv and fast wifi.

    Nothing.

    We liked the breakfast.

Location is hard to find, the address on the confirmation is incorrect. There is not enough parking space. The furniture needs to be changed, it's too old.

I liked the value for the money, the cleanliness and the help from the owner Eduardo with the directions needed. His son Miguel took me around to show me the city in his car. Thank you Miguel!.

It is a gated and locked property wich means that somebody has to walk out to the gate to let you in and out. Coming back late at night could be bothersome for some people.

Wonderful owner and his wife. They took good care of us and were very informative. I wish I could speak spanish better. Easy access to the buses both to the centre and seaside.

No restaurants and places you could eat out at night but you can have a simple meal in the hotel if you wish to, so it is not a big problem. Taxi drivers do not know the place, so the best thing is to suggest them call Dona Marta before going there. Or print a map from Google earth.
