Location, grounds, beach
Convenience store on site is very expensive.
Everything was great the beach staff were wonderful. Loved our room and the man that cleaned our room. Very clean!!
The only thing was the service at the restaurant and the front desk was very slow. The waitress on the beach had a very poor attitude and wasn't pleased with a 15% tip for bringing a bottle of water.
I was upgraded to a one-bedroom garden view. I guess they had run out of studio garden view rooms. Excellent service.
The location is perfect, the view is indescribable, and the grounds are simply beautiful. The people are friendly and helpful, we loved Hemingways on the beach and especially loved Corna
Our room only had a full sized bed which was a bit uncomfortable and the kitchen looked like it was made from leftover space which was very minimal. There was only one drawer able to open due to the layout, the silverware tray was stored on the countertop and the kitchen came to a very narrow V, hard to function in
Pros: Great pool areas- very quiet Always able to get space on beach and by pool Location is good- walking distance or short drive to restaurants. Staff excellent Onsite restaurant is excellent Overall, very quiet Landry in unit
Cons: Rooms are dated, which makes them appear dirty A fresh coat of paint and new blinds on doors would go a long way. Musty smell. Brownish water comes put if shower when first turned on daily. Maybe this is an issue at other resorts, but still gross. Just let it run for 10 sec and it is clear. Wifi is not dependable. Ok in room, but no access at beach or pool. Fitness facility is minimal. I think people "borrow" equipment for their rooms and don't return because the first day there were several floor mats and the next day (and thereafter) there were 0. And the lighter weight all disappeared. While this isn't the resorts fault, it is still annoying and they should put up signs not to remove it.
I pretty much loved everything. The beaches and the clearity of the water on a bright sunny day is the best, visibility was awesome when snorkling around some of the reefs on the island. I wll come back to TCI.
I was taken back by the taxes as an extra expense, I didn't care for this. ants were bad in the room too. TCI is expensive but diffenitely worth more visits.
Clean, well kept grounds & room Convenient location close to other resort restaurants on the beach and the super market Quiet and not a lot of people in the resort or on the beach. Staff was generally responsive (reservations at restaurants, fix a safe that malfunctioned, extra sheets, etc.)
Staff is not always dependable, i.e. we asked that they call a specific taxi company (one that we felt would give us a competitive price) and they did not. We were waiting for the taxi to go to the airport and the taxi compnay were waiting for a call...)
The location is supreme!!! Room is nice but had a musty smell. Staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The drinks are delicious but pricey! The beach is gorgeous with plenty of palapas or umbrellas. Hemmingways is delicious. The pools are gorgeous, well maintained. Walking distance to everything.
Tried to upgrade to ocean view but a palm tree blocked the whole view. Room was musty. Only one paddle board could use a few more. They need some new bikes. It's nice to have them but they had flat tires.
Views, long walkable white sand beach, water temp and clarity, location to shopping and groceries, full kitchen for cooking meals, VERY safe and comfortable.
Wifi connection was slow and intermittent, non motorized water equipment was limited (stand up boards & kayaks)
Rooms not at all like photos on internet. Reception staff not helpful or welcoming.,More like a glorified , dated Holiday Inn
Location Staff Facilities Rum punch
Need more bicycles
You are a bike ride away (and the bikes are free from the front desk) from a great supermarket (cheaper than the one onsite); you are a short walk from some great restaurants, even though Hemingways is awesome such as Mango's, PizzaPizza, Danny Bouys; Flamingo's. The Ocean Vibes is great they are really helpful and the trips that we did (scuba 4 times; parasailing; deep sea fishing...) were superb.
Not a lot!!! hhhhmmmmm let me try and think of one....oh I cant ;o)
can't beat this beach, absolutely amazing water and sand
Excellent beach. Appreciated the upgrade to oceanview. Good facilities, good food at Hemingways. Met lots of great people sharing our beach from all over us and some Europe. Great location along the beach making it easier to walk to other facilities for different dinning experiences.
The staff at the desk could get a bit more friendlier. Seemed as if we were bothering them when I asked questions, needed help with car rental, etc. Not much positive emotion exhibited. Although they did perform all of my requests.
The beach and sorroundings ara amazing, increduble water and very quite place. Perfect to relax and enjoy of this fantastic region.
Should have more chairs and umbrellas on the beach, it was quite hard to find one, also the wifi was quite poor.
The Sands is best beach area and smaller, intimate resort.
2nd time staying there. we liked the property and its access to the beach. our room was maintained exceptionally well.
we are ok with staff assuming a laid back island aire of casualness but too many staffers are just indifferent. i dont ever want someone giving me the idea that their doing me a favor by acknowledging my presence. im easy to please. low maintenance. you have HR challenges but it doesnt exempt you from the necessary follow up with staff performance. a simple good morning, hello, or good evening is pretty much hospitality 101.
The beach access was incredible.
The staff was not well informed, slow, and not as friendly as you'd expect from a resort. Also, there were a very limited number of bicycles, snorkel gear, and pale boards. It seems the resort owns two of everything and that's about it.
The staff were attentive to needs and were welcoming to any questions and or concerns. An example of this would be when an over zealous mother would bring her 3 to 4 year old child to the pool every morning at 8 am for swimming lessons. The child, obviously terrified, begged and whined he didn't want to be in the pool; his pleas literally echoed through the property. There was no need for an alarm ckock. They swiftly took action seeking to speak with the mother.
The Sands was absolutely perfect for our stay. We had a wonderful time.
We had to leave a day early because my boyfriend is a pilot and had to fly. We had no water the last morning and couldn't shower before heading to the airport which was very inconvenient for him because he had to be ready in his uniform. We asked for a refund or partial credit for the last day because of this and were denied. This is my only complaint and the staff didn't seem to care.
Friendly staff, clean and beautiful grounds, outstanding and uncrowded beach, beautiful ocean view, nice 2 bed unit with large screen porch, easy taxi service.
Stains on upholstered furniture, lack of utensils in kitchen, takes a long time to make small change at front desk.
Beach was beautiful! Hemingways restaurant excellent fresh grouper!
No wifi in rooms! Housekeeping staff did not fix curtains that were very tall and unhooked so they could not be closed. The man we showed said "I will be right back!" HA!
The room with ocean view. Equal to the Regent for the same price.
Great location. Loved using the bikes to get around town. Staff was very friendly. Daily maid service was wonderful.
Hemingways had good food but the wait staff was not very friendly.
We loved the resort and all of the services and activities it provided. My family ranged in age from 10 to 75 yrs. of age. Everyone found something they enjoyed doing from the beach to the pools; paddle boarding, parasailing. tubing or snorkeling. Fishing and scuba diving were done off site. A great time!
Cost of taxi cabs which was not the fault of the resort but a fact of the island. Taxis charge by the person and their price varies depending on what taxi you engage.
