Amantra Resort & Spa  

I was a bit concerned about Amantra as I have read great and horrible reviews..For us everything went really well.. Our deluxe see view was what i have expect.. was confortable, fairly large, high ceilings, nice view.. The staff were really helpful in any matter.. Breakfast was good, not much of a change but still enjoyable right in front at the sea.. The restaurant wasnt great.. still taste good but nothing to compare with Miami and Cook Kai just 5 min down (right side) the road. Free beach towels everyday.. cute swimming pool but always with ppl... but you have a flat, warm sea in 1min walk.. Location was great, our beach was nice and fairly quiet.. Rent a scooter down the road for 250 B. and discover everything... you can do nearly all the "tours" by yourself and have better deals with elephant trekking, long tail boat, etc... For a great cocktail, good music, nice travellers check out Pangea bar on the Long Island... Just be nice, polite and clean around nature...

Maybe it is a little bit pricey... But it all depends which kind of holidays you wanna.. If you are staying for a long period maybe its worth to have a look around the island and try to catch a deal in a bungalow or any cute hotel that you might like.. We just had 6 nights in the island so i didnt wanna waist time searching for accommodation... Was brilliant to come back after long days walking, swimming, exploring and had the comfort that we had..

From the beginning the staff took very good care of us. There were no problem - just posibilities. Specially the staff at the front desk (Chan is superb - make our holyday). The location is perfect and the price ok. Good breakfast, but lunch and dinner .... The garden was well done. We are coming back!

The room was clean, but we think they forgot to clean the bathroom.

This hotel had the friendliest staff that we have experienced throughout our travels around southeast Asia. Nothing was too much trouble from the very beginning- they refused to allow us to carry our bags to the room even though the young lad nearly broke his back doing so!! The hotel is managed by a young and very well educated man with very good understanding of the English language and the complete respect of his staff who work hard with enjoyment & smiles on their faces. The room was modern with appropriate pictures and furniture; the beds and the air conditioning made sleeping a comfort; the views at sunset were breathing across the Andaman Sea.

Wat ons enorm tegenviel was de bungalow die ze ons wilden toewijzen. We betaalden extra voor zeezicht en kregen een kamer helemaal achteraan met zicht op een grijze muur. Toen we vroegen waar het zeezicht was werd ons gezegd dat, als men buiten de bungalow komt en je gaat richting strand, dan kan je de zee zien... na lange discussies met de manager kregen wij een upgrade maar dit kon het wrang gevoel van klantenverlakkerij niet wegnemen. We vetrokken er na 2 nachten. Het personeel was ondermaats, begreep geen Engels en de meesten waren totaal niet opgeleid voor hun job. De (witte) strandstoelen waren ofwel stuk ofwel helemaal zwart. Het "resort"" zou tof kunnen zijn maar daar is dringend restauratie en meer profesionele aanpak nodig.
