Restaurant staff were really nice and sweet.
Hotel is far from the pier, not a great value for money. Room are dark and need refurbishment. A/C was extremely loud and hotel is infested of mosquitoes.
The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The location at the end of Kantiang Bay is lovely. It does take a bit of traveling to reach but the effort is well worth it.
Small family run resort of only 15 villa's, most around a lovely peaceful pool & 3 overlooking the sea. We stayed in No.3 which has the best seaview & great private balcony! Looked after well & very friendly staff. Food very good especially in the evenings with fresh fish & wonderful Thai food, where u overlook the beach. Lovely NY eve meal on the beach, where the staff had made a big effort.
We had a few problems with music from the bar area, but the owner (who also owns the bar but doesn't run it) sorted this out for us by getting one of the speakers turned off.
It has a pleasant breakfast
There were ANTS in the bed. Seriously, ants. The staff didn't fix the problem and offered no explanation or even another room. The hotel was worth 50$ a night. If you pay more you will be angry. The location was remote, the staff spoke little English, and the room was dirty. Again, if you get a bargain, then you may see value. We paid over $100 a night and if it was the US, I would have my money back.
Great hotel, but keep in mind can be very quiet which is nice. Bed was a little hard but I think that's expected. Room had a mosquito net and A/C which was great. The pool is very beautiful, with a view of the sea. Staff is also very kind and helpful. Great beach!
Beautiful resort in a great location - close to the beach as well as the small town in case you want to sample other eateries around there. The rooms are all wood, very elegant. Nice pool. Quiet place. Free shuttle pickup from the pier.
I'd have given this place a much better score if not for one thing, which was the mice that were scurrying around in the walls late at night. Not the end of the world for one night, but it would be very annoying for a prolonged stay. Too bad because otherwise this is a gorgeous place to stay.
An excellent location, with great Bungalows around a lovely pool and then those with sea views if you want to pay a bit more. We thought the food in the restaurant (which is perfectly positioned on the beach) has been unfairly criticised in other reviews. The Thai food was great and about the same price as other beach front restaurants. The next door bar also a treat. Loved everything about Baan Laanta.
Excellent bungalow! Friendly staff with exellent english, transport service from pier to hotel. Cosy beach, where you can meet sunsets. Exellent location - 7-eleven, nice restuarants and natinal park not far from the hotel.
Low ceiling (but it is because i am tall men :). Moto-bike rent could be a little bit cheaper.
Pleasant staff, good location. Beautiful restaurant and bedroom layouts.
Unfortunately our room was infested with a family of mice that kept us awake for two nights before anything was resolved. There is nobody manning reception after 11pm in case of emergency or help needed, as in our case. The pool could have been cleaner.
friendly and useful staff good location
The view from our private terrace. Nice pool!
The bay is beautiful although the resort has poor beach facilities. A couple of old plastic sunbeds by rubbish at the end of the beach and most people seemed to be using the facilities (pool and beach sunbeds of the hotel next door). The pool was nice although it is not near the beach but raised by the bungalows.
The rooms have a lot of steps going up the them which are uneven. I managed them although they are quite badly lit when returning at night. Something for consideration if travelling with children or with peoole who cannot manage the climb. The room itself was dark and dirty. I had ants all over the day bed. The rooms do not look like the photos shown on the adverts. They need to be updated and have a good clean and paint. The shower was old and very stiff to turn on - very hot or cold. The lights seemed to randomly work in the bungalow. The worst thing was the breakfast which was laid out in a fly ridden hut with ants etc crawling over uncovered food. We asked to leave after one night as we felt we were paying a lot of money for what we were staying in. I have stayed in lots of places in Thailand and would never pay this amount for a room like this. We had to pay two nights to leave. It seemed that several other visitors had moved to the hotel next door so the manager was extremely rude to us when we complained. I have never witnessed such sarcasm and rudeness from a Thai person. Added to this, a Thai speaking friend overheard the way the staff were discussing the visitors to the resort and actually spoke to them as they were using the lowest form of Thai politeness to talk about them. Not friendly or helpful at all and actually seemed to resent us staying there.
It is a lovely location, we liked the room- it was rustic but we like that aspect of it. The fish BBQ was delicious. The reception Staff members were really helpful and friendly and organised trips etc efficiently.
There are A LOT of staff - many of them spend a lot of time talking to each other and are not really proactive with service. They lack training in hospitality because they are very friendly but don't seem to understand what good service is. We requested several times to have a light bulb replaced in our room in a dark area but it was not done. We also requested they fix the fridge cabinet - again not done. Having said that - we still enjoyed our stay - we were there 9 nights!!
The dirtiness of the property. The fact that in no way did it resemble the pictures and description on both the Booking.Com website or on their own website I booked for 8 nights and stayed 1 night but was charged for 2 nights when I left. The breakfast was inedible and the food was left out uncovered and with flies and other creatures having a feast. The property is vastly mis described in all the promotion material for the resort. It is built on a hillside with a multitude of badly constructed wooden steps and broken concrete walkways the whole place is a safety hazard. This resort is no way approaching a £80 per night venue it is grossly overpriced and mis described on the Booking.Com web. I would recommend that Booking.Com should sever all links with this resort. I would like Booking.Com.to get me my money back from this resort. I was on a 2 week vacation in Thailand and other places I had stayed were all excellent Baan Laanta is the pits.I couldn't stay there and had to find alternative accommodation at short notice,I was disappointed that the travel firm I have come to rely on let me down so badly. .
Traditional Thai hospitality, excellent restaurant, friendly staff.
Steps to access the rooms are very steep
I liked the pool and the tranquil surroundings
Fantastic location, beautiful scenery, quiet and fantastic bohemian bar minutes away on the beach. Right on the beach. Great evening BBQ meals, fresh fish.
Bungalows are quite dark. Breakfast is average. Showers - cold tap is hot. Hot tap cold lol.
The room was clean, the staff were so helpful and friendly, the location is great.
Perhaps for what is was it was a little on the expensive side but it was our honeymoon so it was worth it.
Loved everything about this hotel - it certainly wasn't luxurious that's not what you paid for. But was charmingly rustic in style with fantastic location . Although a language barrier staff were friendly and helpful. Brekfast was simple and dinner was best in kantiang bay - wonderful fish nightly. Bar had a great atmosphere Would definitely return
Shower could be smelly sometimes. Scuba diving lessons carried out in swimming pool
The final bill included a 3% credit card charge! There was never any mention on booking.com anywhere that this would be added to the 'final' cost of the booking. Not cool. Rooms need serious updating.
Close to the beach and away from the busier towns. Lovely rooms. Some nice places to eat nearby. There was a problem with our pick up and the reception staff were extremely helpful trying to sort it out.
Not exactly a spa. Pool not great and they ran dive lessons in it even though it was only 1m deep. Restaurant staff were a bit abrupt.
The location was on a nice quiet beach and the town was very charming.
No hot water!! We have stayed in hundreds of hotels across Thailand and this was the most disappointing by far. No Hot water at all, for the price this was totally unacceptable. The hotel refused to move our room or fix it, although we asked multiple times a day. We couldn't even shower for 4 days!! The breakfast buffet was a joke, some oily scrambled eggs and fruit and juice and cheap bread that sat out for hours. Staff was not helpful at all. Our tv was completely broken, screen didn't even work. They run scuba diving classes in the pool so you can't swim or lay by the pool in quiet. Hotel has about 4 plastic beach chairs which are half broken. Really dissatisfied with Baan Lanta - it's unfortunate because the town is so lovely and this hotel has potential. $150/Night and no basic hot water is really really bad management. (We stayed in room #12, the room next to us had hot water - the staff told us to write on here because they have asked the owner multiple times to fix the water problem for months and they have done nothing about it - I think the staff is sick of hearing about it) Ko Lanta is beautiful, we go often, don't stay here and don't let Baan Lanta ruin your holiday like it did ours.
