It is away from town thus it's peaceful. One room is huge. Toilet is huge too and you felt as if you are bathing outdoor. They intro people the experience of staying in the mountains. Staffs are friendly. One of them even came to my door step just to pass me a water boiler. As it is away from Phi Phi town, you have to walk for about 5-10 min to this hotel. You have to climb stairs. And when it rains, toads, frogs and worms are everywhere. Mosquitoes are everywhere and make sure you close toilet and main door tightly and insects repeal lotion doesn't seemed to have much effect. They only provided a towel each and only had 2 -3 clothes hanger. Plugs are very limited. They doesn't have hair dryer. Moths and ants are always in the toilet and make sure you switch off the lights when not using toilet.

Stayed at Chunut House for 5 nights, the staff were all really friendly and helpful. Location is about 5 mins walk to beach & about 10-15min to the pier, it was quiet at night too so no problems sleeping. The room was quite basic but comfortable with air-con, they cleaned it everyday with fresh towels etc. There is a big monkey who comes down into the hotel area every morning too! The toilet is on the side of your bungalow & doesnt have a proper roof so frogs, bugs can get in. wasnt much of a problem but you had to makesure you closed the door properly so no mosquitos would get in your room.

Special decoration and helpful staff, and cute kitties! It can really take you some time to find the place, however, you can always contact them for a pick-up at the pier. Cannot only take cash when I checked in due to some system problems, check it before you show up at the counter.

Nice house & good location(5 minutes to the beach and 20 minutes to the viewpoint). They have free wifi and water, if you need, they can help to carry the buggage from/to the TonSai Pier. Not cheap, have small ants.

Can honestly say that there was very little I liked about Chunut House. The actual architectural idea is good...bungalows built into the hillside with cave-like bathrooms...but carried off very badly and in terrible disrepair. Do not know why Lonely Planet rated it their "pick" on Phi Phi Island. If we had been staying longer than two nights, I would have switched hotels immediately, as did one other couple staying there on LP's advice. Towels and sheets were clean.

The staff was amazing. We liked them so much that we asked them to watch our baby and they did a great job. We love the young couple who run the front desk. They are so nice.

The front desk staff were amazing and the bungalows which have been described as budget were well above that. The beds were comfy, aircon worked and breakfast was sufficient.

We stayed at Chunut House from the 31st Oct - 2nd November. I had been to Phi Phi before and decided that the location is still central enough but not too close the loud music at night if we decided to have an early night (which we didn't). One of the boys came at met us at the port to take us to the hotel and all our luggage! And believe me we had a lot of luggage! 4 girls travelling, we didn't really travel light! Of course we tipped him on arrival which they appreciate so much. Check in was fast and we had a nice 2 bedroom room on the ground floor (thank God, would have been a nightmare carrying all the bags up the stairs. The rooms were basic but perfect for us, clean, and comfy beds. Breakfast simply but again sufficient. It is a 8 min walk to the beach and into town centre. Would definately stay again! Value for money. Only thing, there is a bit of building work on the way you walk to the hotel but it is not pretty, but it will be great once the work is complete. Otherwise would say location is fabulous.

It's quite rustic, people who like to feel the jungle or who doesnt like crowd may like it. It is in the residential area of Phi Phi island. It is kind of a family run hotel. Hotel stuff can understand very basic English. And you need to pay before not after you stay. Its fairly clean, bathrooms are improvable, as the rooms are all made of straw and doors are not well closed, you may want to take mosquito repeller with you if you choose this hotel. Some places in these residential area of Phi Phi Island was quite smelly, on our way to the hotel, probably because of poor water system. Its about 20 - 30 min walk from the port of the island, quite far from the main attractions compared to other hotels, if you are going with suitcases, and doesnt know how to get the hotel, you'd better contact the hotel first, as there is no cars nor taxis on the island and hard to walk with suitcases.

Location is very handy, right in the village near all the bars and restaurants, a few minutes from great swimming/sunbathing beaches. I'd say at 1200 Bhat for a double room with ac and en suite it was fair value for the location. Staff were quite blunt and very slow with check-in etc - none of those I met seemed to have any passion for the hotel or the idea of customer service.

the surroundings were beautiful and it felt like we were living in some kind of treehouse. the floor to ceiling windows were lovely too and the shower was spacious with fantastic water pressure. it was a bit of a walk to the main bits of phi phi, but that was mostly okay since the noise from all the clubs didn't drift up and disturb our sleep.

Great little place to stay on Phi Phi, staff were always around to help out if needed, the rooms were very well maintained and had a nice village hut theme about them. Far enough away from the main pubs and noise of Phi Phi Village that you dont get kept awake but not so far that it is ever a hassle to walk to and from them and also to the beach. Also has a decent little bakery attached.

Chunut House Resort is definitely what you pay for. If you like the feel of a little thatch hut and living a little closer to Thailand beach living then this is it. Although my 2 other friends and I appreciate the feel that the hotel were trying to achieve, it wasn't well maintained, i.e. it was not clean, there were ants and other insects living with us and there were absolutely no extras, e.g. there weren't even beach towels we could use. The manager (a lovely man who seemed to run all facilities from reception, transfer to the pier and making breakfast) was lovely but other staff were quite rude and abrupt (e.g. we were given a stained towel and were told we'd have to use it as there were no clean ones left).
