Great location (it is Tongsai beach, which 15 mins walk from Railay) with surroundings of its own totally relaxed atmosphere, like great bars and coffeehouses. Really comfortable and very spacious rooms with equally spacious bathrooms. Were cleaned every day. Hot water flow is even :) Good various breakfasts. The staff is helpful.
No wifi in the rooms.
the room the swimming pool
the area around is crowdy and dirty. they destroy old bungalows but they left all the ruins on place. so when you arrive in tonsai it looks like a garbage beach. hope they will clean the area but i was surprised it wasn't on for the peak season (i stayed for christmas and new year eve)
We deliberately booked one of the 'huts' for added character. It didn't have air conditioning but we found the fan was good enough anyway. The private balcony let us have a very relaxed week at the resort as it gave us some 'personal space'.
The room did not seem to be cleaned as a matter of course. It was done twice in eight days and on one of those occassions we had to ask. This hasn't been our experience anywhere else during a month in Thailand/Laos so not sure why it was a problem here.
Location and facility
Service was lousy in All aspects!
Nice to retreat to the tropical pool when you need a break from the beach. Decent buffet breakfast, lovely helpful staff. Large comfy bed, and air conditioning,
We stayed in a deluxe room over the Xmas period and it was not cheap, however it is the nicest accommodation in Tonsai and its peak season. The addition of wifi would be grat, although there is an Internet cafe on site.
I like the hotel's design and cleanliness and some of the front desk stuff. Good location at tonsai beach.
There's this lady who was suppose to get us a ride to the hotel from the beach front since the hotel stay includes this service. However, she agitatedly told us to hike up to the hotel ourselves and refuse do anything to help. The room was available 2 hours later but the hotel staff was nice enough to apologize and explained. The tour desk was horrible to the max. The guy there seems to know nothing about the tour. He very slowly flipping the pages of the 'tour menu' and say the price. That's about it. He couldnt answer anything else. Dealing with him after having face an unpleasant staff and to hike up the mountain to the hotel with heavy backpacks and get our room 2 hours later than expected made me really depressed and angry. My overall experience with the hotel was bad.
Hot water! This is hard to find on the TonSai side. Breakfast with good coffee. Beautiful property is well taken care of and relatively quiet after 10pm. Nicest place on the TonSai side.
A little expensive for what you actually get. For the money they should provide a little better service. If you are looking for a nice hotel go to the Railay side. If you want to live cheap this place is also not for you.
Nice ppl, clean room.
The shower could use some renovetion. The power was not turned on 24/7 even though it was high season.
Tonsai is sort of a hippie place where budget accommodations are the most widespread. If you like this sort of atmosphere but with a bit of added comfort, this resort is the best option! We stayed in a mid range brick house of one room with attached bathroom, good aircon, TV and basic but nice decoration. The landscape is amazing but if you need a good sleep at 9 pm you may choose a whole different beach as reggea is heard everywhere in Tonsai until midnight at least. The staff was so polite and helpful, the breakfast is with good choice and fairly continental. Staff helped us arrange outward travel to Phi Phi. It is a good spot to do some hiking from and enjoy a bit less touristy spot of Thailand's amazing beaches.
The bathroom had some bugs but as we did not expect luxury, we could live with it. There are flies at breakfast as many people wrote about it, and no electricity between 12-4 pm but as we went there to enjoy not to complain these things did not make a big difference to our trip.
Good customer service.
Fair laundry service down the road, not prompt.
The pool and breakfast are ok.
Truly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Rooms look nothing like the pictures, bathrooms are terrible. Don't waste your.money
Explore, there are 3 really nice beaches all within walking distance. If its low tide you can walk around the point from tonsai to railay, or take the trail, avoid the ripoff longtail boats whenever possible. The trail can be difficult with luggage, steep in some spots and mucky after it rains.
Be sure you go to TONSAI beach even though they advertise as being on railay. The two beaches are separated by a trail that is difficult to navigate at the best of times (very difficult when it rains) with luggage, and the 2 minute boat ride between the beaches is a ripoff.
Comfortable bungalows, a lovely garden setting, friendly staff, two nice swimming pools, and a good - indeed generous - breakfast.
Not a fault of the hotel, but what do you do when you have one of the most spectacular beach settings in the world? Why put in a garbage dump of course - and not a small one - and make sure that tourists have to walk past it in order to get from spectacular Tonsai Beach to any of the hotels further up the hill.
It was quiet, sorounded by incredible scenary with very nice people.
no mosquito nets, there was one mosquito which I had to hunt :) if there were moskito nets like in other places the poor insect would have still been alive.
Tonsai beach is great to climbers and Railay beach is beatifull place also. The breakfast was wonderful. The pool is great. The bars and environment in the surroundings are great to have some drinks.
I coukdn't almost speak with the staff in the restaurant because the y didn't understand much. Just infront of the hotel there is a lot garbage and is really dirty. The toilet was not nice.
The only people this hotel is suitable for is backpackers/hippies who just want a roof over their heads. In our room we had a hole in the room, the sink broke as we used it, if we wanted to shower we would have to stand over the toilet and at breakfast there was a plate of croissants with ants crawling all over it. It reminded me of hostels I stayed in during a trip to India, fine for £5 a night but a complete rip off at £40 for the night. Area is awful as well, you are basically staying next to a rubbish tip.
Had a lot of trouble with the staff understanding us. When we had trouble with a payment they made it out problem. The sales manager was abusive. And we were not told our room would double in price on the 1st of November. When trying to resolve these things, we were spoken to in a rude manner and they made it %100 our problem.
New room, new shower.
It's not railay beach. It's Tonsai! No electricity between 7AM to 5PM!!! No restaurant. Dirty pool (filters don't work for hours everyday). Fits to youth and mounts climb fans & experts. Nothing to do in the area after 6 pm.
Nice place surrounding by mountains..
We were just us in the hotel, and was raining a lot..so the experience was not very useful :-) To go from Railey to here..they use to rip you off with the boats!! try to get more people in the boat.
This is a wonderful resort, however I would advise anyone booking Dream Valley to do so only durning peak season. This past visit I was stuck at the resort with no power or any way to leave as there were very few boats around to book. Saying that this is a wonderful place to stay during the peak season.
Nice room Clean and quiet Nice pool
Hard and confusing to find. Make sure you dont end up on Tonsai bay on Koh Phi Phi. Look up directions very carefully. Hard treck from Railay beach. Electricity only from 6pm to 7am. So no aircon or hot shower.
Nice pool, beautiful and comfy bungalows
Power cuts from 6am to 6 pm which means you do not get for what you've paid
The pool is fantastic on those hot tonsai days. Just a short walk to beautiful tonsai/railway beaches
Know what you're getting into before you book. Electric is only on at night 6p-6a Room wasn't cleaned during our stay If you are used to dirtbagging it a little this won't bother you. Otherwise book on Railay instead.
Lovely welcome to the hotel and the staff were very helpful. The food in the evenings was really good. Locely location for a bit more of a get away from others. the hotel has a lovely pool which our bungalow was right next to. The Tonsai beach is not nice enough to stay at and you cant go in the sea as it is very rocky. To get to Railay beach you do need to either climb over a pass which is not too difficult if wearing something other than flip flops. would not like to have to take a suitcase over it however. When the tide is low you can climb over rocks instead.
Wather taxi to this place very expensive if you travel alone or like couple
