Explore, there are 3 really nice beaches all within walking distance. If its low tide you can walk around the point from tonsai to railay, or take the trail, avoid the ripoff longtail boats whenever possible. The trail can be difficult with luggage, steep in some spots and mucky after it rains.
Be sure you go to TONSAI beach even though they advertise as being on railay. The two beaches are separated by a trail that is difficult to navigate at the best of times (very difficult when it rains) with luggage, and the 2 minute boat ride between the beaches is a ripoff.
Comfortable bungalows, a lovely garden setting, friendly staff, two nice swimming pools, and a good - indeed generous - breakfast.
Not a fault of the hotel, but what do you do when you have one of the most spectacular beach settings in the world? Why put in a garbage dump of course - and not a small one - and make sure that tourists have to walk past it in order to get from spectacular Tonsai Beach to any of the hotels further up the hill.
It was quiet, sorounded by incredible scenary with very nice people.
no mosquito nets, there was one mosquito which I had to hunt :) if there were moskito nets like in other places the poor insect would have still been alive.
Tonsai beach is great to climbers and Railay beach is beatifull place also. The breakfast was wonderful. The pool is great. The bars and environment in the surroundings are great to have some drinks.
I coukdn't almost speak with the staff in the restaurant because the y didn't understand much. Just infront of the hotel there is a lot garbage and is really dirty. The toilet was not nice.
The only people this hotel is suitable for is backpackers/hippies who just want a roof over their heads. In our room we had a hole in the room, the sink broke as we used it, if we wanted to shower we would have to stand over the toilet and at breakfast there was a plate of croissants with ants crawling all over it. It reminded me of hostels I stayed in during a trip to India, fine for £5 a night but a complete rip off at £40 for the night. Area is awful as well, you are basically staying next to a rubbish tip.
Had a lot of trouble with the staff understanding us. When we had trouble with a payment they made it out problem. The sales manager was abusive. And we were not told our room would double in price on the 1st of November. When trying to resolve these things, we were spoken to in a rude manner and they made it %100 our problem.
New room, new shower.
It's not railay beach. It's Tonsai! No electricity between 7AM to 5PM!!! No restaurant. Dirty pool (filters don't work for hours everyday). Fits to youth and mounts climb fans & experts. Nothing to do in the area after 6 pm.
Nice place surrounding by mountains..
We were just us in the hotel, and was raining a lot..so the experience was not very useful :-) To go from Railey to here..they use to rip you off with the boats!! try to get more people in the boat.
This is a wonderful resort, however I would advise anyone booking Dream Valley to do so only durning peak season. This past visit I was stuck at the resort with no power or any way to leave as there were very few boats around to book. Saying that this is a wonderful place to stay during the peak season.
Nice room Clean and quiet Nice pool
Hard and confusing to find. Make sure you dont end up on Tonsai bay on Koh Phi Phi. Look up directions very carefully. Hard treck from Railay beach. Electricity only from 6pm to 7am. So no aircon or hot shower.
Nice pool, beautiful and comfy bungalows
Power cuts from 6am to 6 pm which means you do not get for what you've paid
The pool is fantastic on those hot tonsai days. Just a short walk to beautiful tonsai/railway beaches
Know what you're getting into before you book. Electric is only on at night 6p-6a Room wasn't cleaned during our stay If you are used to dirtbagging it a little this won't bother you. Otherwise book on Railay instead.
Lovely welcome to the hotel and the staff were very helpful. The food in the evenings was really good. Locely location for a bit more of a get away from others. the hotel has a lovely pool which our bungalow was right next to. The Tonsai beach is not nice enough to stay at and you cant go in the sea as it is very rocky. To get to Railay beach you do need to either climb over a pass which is not too difficult if wearing something other than flip flops. would not like to have to take a suitcase over it however. When the tide is low you can climb over rocks instead.
Wather taxi to this place very expensive if you travel alone or like couple
Flies in dining area
The Pool was good, it had a little baby section that we used for our 14 month old. It wasn't worth the sacrifice of not having air con in the afternoons though, or the mosquitoes in the room so we moved to a Tonsai Bay Resort that had 24 hour air con and better sealed rooms.
No air con in the afternoons between 12pm and 4pm. With a 14 month old baby that was very hard. When the electricity was off in the afternoon our pool side deluxe bungalow was very dark, hot, stuffy and I would have prefered a lighter, airier, more basic room instead of this bungalow. The location wasn't that handy for the beach or the rock climbing areas, its a bit of a walk up a jungle path that would be full of Mosquitoes. The mosquitoes - there would always be one buzzing around in the room despite our best efforts to eliminate them. There seemed to be spaces between the walls and the roof in the bathroom, plus spaces in the windows and the doors so lots of places for new mosquitoes to come in - and no mosquito net provided for sleeping under. That would be a great improvement if they provided a net for each bed.
Staff was very helpful in the office and restaurant. The hotel provided pick up and drop off at the beach as the hotel is located a bit of a walk up the hill. Very quite and peaceful, nice pool with but with no views. We visited Riley beach 17 years ago although VERY different, we loved our stay at Tonsai which was just one bay to the north of Riley and walking distance for the young at heart.
Power was shut off during the day making it difficult to nap little ones.
There is a nuce bar in front of the hotel.
The room is dark, made with woods that makes a lot of noises. The bathroom seems like it was not finished yet. Weard. There were monkeys, ok, I can live with that, but there were also flies in all over the place!! During the breakfast, that was not good, we could not eat because of so many flies around us. Nobody seemed to woory. No internet in the room. The energy is turned off 4 hours during the day. The beach, only acessed by boat, is like an alternative place.
Very good pool, location. Nice design rooms, good view!
everything.. well located, clean, quiet, professional staff..
Didn´t bother me but no electricity between 12am - 4pm
5 min walk to Tonsai beach, which we liked more than Railay- more relaxed, hippy, easy-going with several food and drink places. Deluxe room is spacious and the pool is nice.
Nearly inexistent service. No room cleaning. When we arrived there was no electricity and the staff refused to give us room we had booked and told us to wait for couple of hours. They knew about the power cut, but had not printed or written necessary things down. During one evening/night very loud karoke party by and for the staff that one couldn't ignore even with closed doors and windows. Breakfast is also rather poor, but there are othe food places nearby
The most luxurious place to stay on tonsai. Nice views and pool. The new building is nice and the old ones not worth the money. Have to spend over 2250 per night for a half decent room
The manager was a disgrace! Screaming and pointing in our faces because there was a party near our room and we requested a quiet room and we asked could we move further back. He hurled abuse at us and his lip was quivering the whole time. Ruined our weekend We have lived in Asia for a year and not only was this the rudest man I've ever met it doesn't seem value for money. I've read dozens of reviews since on this man. He will ruin that hotel. Avoid at all costs!
The pool and the breakfast are really good. It's a beautiful hotel.
Breakfast full of flies and nobody of staff seems to care. They don't clean the rooms every day. They don't even give clean towels every day. The location is not at Railay. Its the Island next to it so you need an extra boat to get there. 120 Baht per hour for wifi is the most expensive I had in Thailand. Staff is lazy and not friendly at all.
Nice place if we compare to resorts around. Swiming pool in central part. Good place for mountain climbing. Breakfast ok.
Beach not the best . It takes about 15 minutes climbing and walking to better beach Ton Say or next 15 minutes to best beach Phra Nang, other ways you have to take boat to get there Clining room only on reqest.
