Surrounded by Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystical capital of the North. With more than 300 temples, it's considered one of the most important cultural centers in the country.
Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still has a relaxed and laid-back feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.
This reputation is partly due to its proximity to lush green areas, mountains like Doi Suthep, and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 37 miles away with Thailand’s highest mountain.
Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city center are a popular choice, with picturesque scenery featuring its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.
The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Road hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.
Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss "The Rose of the North" deals on Booking.com!
Our trip to Chiang Mai was good. Enjoyed our stay at the Kum Phaya resort. The resort was amazing and the staff were friendly.
The resort organises Cultural show and dinner which was not published in Booking.com.
We came to know about it at the reception. Had we known about it we would have booked the cultural show and dinner at our Resort, rather than travelling by taxi to the Old Chiang Mai cultural centre.
In my view this should be promoted in booking.com.
We have not completed our tour and hence unable to comment further.

Chiang Mai is one of the best city we visited in Thailand.
Chiang Mai is one of the best city we visited in Thailand. The city still holds the old culture in terms of its gates, markets, old buildings, temples and some nearby locations which are a must visit.
We visited the night markets which had so much opportunities for shop, the city is connected in a square which you can bike around as well. Stay at Buri Gallery. Visit Mae Kampong Village, see how the villagers live and survive with their means of tourism. Try to stay a night there as well. Drive to Mae Rae district for a picturesque sunsets and sunrise over the hills. If season is right you get to visit the Flower garden as well. There are numerous elephant sanctuary but visit Living Green, they are the most ethical and when we visited the elephants had freedom to do their way and felt like you are coming to their home to meet them. The Living Green Team takes good care of the elephants and make sure the guests have good experience with ample informations about all the elephants. The team is multilingual as well.
I would for my next time hire a good car for entirety of my stay so that I can travel well.

Wonderful place to visit.
Wonderful place to visit. Old town is so charming with the little labyrinth streets, there are gorgeous temples everywhere, by the way that’s where you can get the best and cheapest massages ever!! The food is delicious and there are plenty of options everywhere! And of course the wonderful, heartwarming and gentle Thai people are the best of Thailand! Plenty of activities and wonderful nature to explore around Chiang Mai. Will be coming back with at least one week here! 💖

Chiang Mai is a quieter place. Well behaved citizens. Indian Food too was available closer from the Hotel we stayed. One should not miss the hidden temple.
We also found Lord Shiva temple on a day of Mahashivaratri, an auspicious day for worshippers of lord Shiv Ji.
Overall an amazing experience.

A big city in Thailand other than Bangkok.
A big city in Thailand other than Bangkok. There are two types of feeling as I have stayed a few days a little further from the city and a few days within the city. Within the city you can find everything you want and you are able to look for food within walking distance but for staying outer skirt of Chiangmai, you need to prepare food yourselves and there is nothing much to see but if you are those who like adventure and mountainous you will like it.
Little boutique hotel, interior very nicely arranged, lot's of plants, trees also outside.
Really great location. This area is my favourite part of chiang mai old city, close to restaurants, very good localization.
Beautiful, clean room with balcony over the pool, a huge comfy bed. Such great value!!!
The staff are lovely here. helpful, and accommodating throughout my stay. They assisted me in renting a scooter and arranging tours, which made my trip so much more memorable.
I couldn't fault the hotel and stay here.
EVERYTHING was perfect!!!
Green Sleep was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed. Facilities are good and everything is provided. Stuff was the best part of hostel: very friendly, funny and helpful. The lobby of hostel is a hub to meet with people, get information about city and enjoy your free time. Location of hostel is in the middle of the old city, close to the Sunday night market (1 min) and great thai restaurant in Chiang Mai (5 mins). I strongly recommend to choose this hostel if you visit Chiang Mai!
The hotel offers great value for money. It is in a good location in the Old City; a convenience store (7-eleven) and pharmacy (Boots) are close by. The room we stayed in (villa 5) is spacious. The outside sitting area feels bigger than what is shown in the hotel photos. The staff, in particular the lady at the front desk, are so friendly and helpful. They gave us good tips (such as where we may find the best Khao Soi in the area) and went our their way to make our stay enjoyable. They are such wonderful people……
Olivier Boutique is by far my favorite hotel in Chiang Mai. The way the hotel has been decorated is simply amazing. The owner is such a lovely lady with so much passion for the hotel and to ensure your stay is perfect. It is easily understood why a lot of her guests are repeat customers for many years. The husband is French and runs a french restaurant which is simply amazing, ridiculously cheap and 5-star quality. This hotel is simply the best value hotel in Chiang Mai by far.
Great hotel with pool in the west side of the old city. Close to many restaurants and a mini market. Tons of breakfast places nearby which is good, as the hotel has no kitchen. The place is absolutely spotless and is almost constantly being cleaned. Good air conditioning and WiFi in every room. The maintenance guy, cleaner and night check in man is an absolute legend. The majority of the staff are absolute diamonds. We extended our stay twice, it was that good.
This hotel was a great choice. I stayed there for a month and felt completely safe (solo female traveler) and found the staff to be incredibly nice and considerate. The view from the roof deck is amazing. The location can't be beat, short moped ride or 10 minute walk to the old city. There is a wonderful co-working cafe called Heartwork the Sharing Space three blocks away that I used 2-3 days a week and absolutely loved. All around great place to stay.
This is a very special but pricy property, which is partly because it comes with a pick up from the airport, very easy. There are a lot of trees, even though in the middle of Chiang Mai, close to the night market street. The manager is very helpful.
The breakfast is worth 6 stars. It tastes delicious and is presented in a way 5 star hotels/resorts can learn from. They offer free fruit and unlimited drinking water.
This is such a nice spot. The staff is great too, very helpful. To me it seemed like a great bargain since it’s still pandemic time and their prices are lower than usual. Very quiet and cozy, some nice real and complimentary coffee available in the morning, and in just about the perfect location for exploring the best of Chiang Mai’s old town. Highly recommended.
PSD is a small, home-stay like hotel.. located on a quiet alley (soil), but just 100-150 metres from all the conveniences if Old City Chiang Mai... great restaurants, nice cafes, convenience stores.. plus easy walk to some of the major sites (temples) un the Old City. Highly Recommend staying here!!
Great boutique hotel, beautifully decorated. Good location in the old city on a quiet road and close to everything. The room was clean with a comfy bed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Especially Nok, always willing to give us helpful information about where to go and what places to visit.
Very sweet staff and comfortable beds. We liked being a bit away from the tourist crowds in the old city and wondering the small side streets. The Chinese restaurant close to the hotel was one of the best meals we had in Chiang Mai- bonus!
A beautiful traditionally decorated hotel, in a good location ( Old City) next to the local park. We enjoyed our stay during the annual Flower Festival. Lots to see and do in this area, with easy access to transport and eateries.
Simply great. I wished I could rate Lee Chiang 11/10. The hotel is in the old city, near a very beautiful temple. Breakfast is great, the amenities are good but the best thing is the exceptional service by Kishore and his staff.
Quiet and cozy, not a hotel, feel like home, away from the crowd of Chiang Mai old City. With Grab taxi, it's 80 ThB & 5 min drive to the old city.
A variety of eating places around.
Great host.
Excellent value
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very cute, and very centrally located in the old city of Chiang Mai. Next door to the largest temple in the city. The hotel was also very clean.
Clean and comfortable room, lovely hotel with local flair in Old Town close to temples. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, best Thai tea ever. Excellent service from all the staff.
this hotel is very nice. probably it is the best in Chiang Mai city. don’t hesitate to book it. I will definitely come back if I travel to Chiang Mai again.
