Others can talk about the White Temple, Blue Temple etc etc I simply want to say that Chiang Rai offers a hugely different perspective to that of any other Thailand city ... and it's MORE than worth your while to visit. The surrounding mountains and various attractions there are multitudinous. The temples are just as impressive (for Buddhists and non-Buddhist alike) as in Chiang Mai and in fact Chiang Rai predates Chiang Mai as the famous King Mengai's capital city for his Lanna Kingdom.
The Lanna culture is unique in all of Southeast Asia and Chiang Rai is really still the epicentre of Lanna and all its aspects. If you are looking for a truly cultural and spectacular holiday experience then Chiang Rai is one place that YOU SHOULD NOT MISS.
So do yourself a favour and get yourself up to Chiang Rai ... in the Lanna lands of clouds and smiles!

Visited the Balloon Fiesta in Singha Park.
Visited the Balloon Fiesta in Singha Park. Plenty to see and do, we'll probably do it again next year.
I was lucky enough to visit the White Temple during Covid, and although it wasn't possible to go inside it was lovely to be able to see it without the crowds. Having just driven past this time I wasn't sure it would be worth the wait in the queue to go inside.

Chiang Rai is a nice place with friendly people, which can meet the needs/expectations of different people with varied tastes. It is not very touristy, so much more natural. Rent a car and it is easy to get about with Google Maps. Enjoy the natural environment, the food and fruits, and various attractions.

I loved white temple, there are also some nice restaurants in the city and great night market, but the air in the city is terribly polluted, it is difficult to breathe, also the cithy itself is quite ugly in my opinion and the climate is difficult as it is hot during the day and very cold during the night.

Laid back quiet town.
Laid back quiet town. Seems to have a number of live music venues and also vegetarian restaurants or options. Stunning Wats as always, but particularly interesting ones with history of creation of Chiang Rai, as well as discovery of the Emerald Buddha. Locals are friendly and helpful.

Nakarj Princess Hotel - a must stay
Great walking street/night market
best location in Chiang Rai for visitors. you walk out of Kanlaya Place and the clock tower is right there. plenty of great restaurants and bars nearby, some touristy, most local vibe. the night market and other spots with street food are within a 5 minute walk. the hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. the room was clean with drinks in the fridge. bed was comfortable, wifi very strong with good signal. it’s a simple room and property but great value. would definitely stay here again.
Huge room very large flat screen TV large bed. The staff was very friendly everybody had a smile on their face always willing to answer a question. Good location within walking distance to Terminal 1 bus station Into the Night Market and even to Central if you're in good shape. Breakfast was included and there was a good variety of Asian items as well as your normal eggs and ham and sausage.
I will be going back to this hotel frequently when I need to be in Chiang Rai many thanks to the staff
The front desk staff is incredible! With an impressive staff-to-guest ratio, they are proactive and do everything they can to make sure your stay is great. For example, they asked where I was heading next. When I told them Chiang Rai, they asked if I already bought my bus ticket (I hadn't) and offered to help me buy one as they sell out quickly. In fact, I got the last seat on the bus! Phew!
They offer bikes to borrow which makes exploring the town a lot easier and more fun!
The room was cozy, but spacious and clean. All basic facilities, including a fridge (with free water) and kettle (with instant coffee and tea) were available. Breakfast was decent. In fact, their pork congee was excellent, while their coffee was heavenly. Housekeeping was also exceptional. The hosts knew English and were very helpful in recommending worthwhile sights around Chiang Rai. Moreover, the location of the guesthouse was ideal and conveniently near various amenities.
The staff are very friendly. The rooms are well equipped. We had a great view on the river. Breakfast also has reasonable range of options. The garden and swimming pool areas are beautiful. The location is also good - walking distance to the city sights. The hotel has its own restaurant, shop, rooftop bar, and a massage & spa center.
Overall, it's absolutely recommended. I think this is the best place to stay in Chiang Rai.
The hotel is very well located a short walk to the Chiang Rai night market. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. My room didn't have the promised city view but it did open to overlook the indoor swimming pool. The room was a good size with a massive fridge. The availability of a washing machine is a bonus.
The hotel is gorgeous and perfectly designed. We loved the town and the market.
Our stay was perfect, the food was really good and the massage was also really great.
The Staff was really nice, they even let us their own motorbike. Thank you Dew and Gone for making our stays perfect
The room was very clean and cosy. We arrived at 11:00 am and they let us in earlier (the staff is very nice). The hotel is 7 minutes walking from the terminal 1 chiang rai, which is convenient because when you take a bus from chiang mai, the final stop is terminal 1.
Very new, clean and fresh feeling. The big windows and the balcony were nice but the view from the hotel was not as amazing as I had hoped. It looked into a little valley in town rather than the huge amazing valley. Pleasant view but not spectacular.
I like everything.
The owner was really friendly,kind,helpful,hospitable.
He will tell you everything what to do around the city..
The place is really clean his staff is also friendly..
Overall my stay is great!
Best hostel in Chiang Rai.❤️
Everything about the stay was great. It's family run. The hotel was comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly! The breakfast was delicious and served in a cute small garden. The location was perfect for going into town.
Everything. Very close to the airport, which is convenient. Very clean rooms and well equiped. Very nice little gym with everything you need. Free coffee and snacks in the lobby. Very cheap price for the quality of the hotel
Great place, nice staff and finally a good bed to sleep in. Rooms seem newly renovated and they are equipped with a lot of things that you miss in most other Thai hotels. The breakfast buffet was perfect.
Clean, well maintained, comfortable boutique hotel with great location. Staff are very kind and helpful. Breakfast had a lot of variety. We also loved the pool area and service.
It's just fantastic, friendly place with best location.Better than 5 stars hotel. Big Thank you to Matt he is so kind and helpful. Perfect for long and short stay.
Comjng from a Thai the food was excellent, staff were amazing, maybe the best hotel I’ve stayed in and for cheap, beautiful view of rice fields surrounding
