Unique rooms. Quite comfortable. Maenam market on Thursdays is fantastic.
Wasn't the cleanest place we've stayed in. And the reception staff were quite rude.
Location was good, close to beach. We were only there for a night but enjoyed our stay.
Smoking in the restaurant, although considered outdoors, in our opinion smoking in any eating area is a no no.
Location was great! Breakfast was good. Great beach, perfect for swimming and lots of options at night.
Plenty of Mosquitos around as a creek flowed through property. Rooms were really small.
The resort is in front of the beach and the restaurant is good (except for the breakfast which is quite poor).
When we arrived to the hotel it was earlier then the check-in time, but we got offered an alternative room. This room had not even been cleaned up, it was full of dust and we could clearly see chicken poop on the floor. So we asked for a different room. Also we are pretty sure that they use bleach to keep the pool clean so watch your swimsuits. The aircon and the tv didn't work properly and water tap leaking is usual. In addition, the villa balcony had probably never been cleaned.
Resort was on a beautiful beach, rooms were very nice and so cheap for what you get! Other reviews complain about the river that runs through the resort being smelly but we found it fine, only that we think that's why we got more mosquito bites there than elsewhere. Pool looked nice although we didn't use it because the beach is so nice for swimming and they have their own sun beds on the beach. Staff are fine, not overly friendly and don't go out of their way for you but helped when we asked. Only had breakfast in the hotel (which was a standard buffet but not warm enough) as there's loads of other restaurants on Mae nam to try, so can't comment on the dinner food.
Outside bathroom attracted loads of bugs but I actually thought it was a cool feature of the rooms. It's a shame the restaurant isn't actually on the beach, don't understand why they built it so far back. No fun bar like a lot of hotels on the Thai islands. We were there at low season but the whole place was pretty dead, was perfect to chill/swim/sunbathe ect but if you want to party I'd stay on another beach.
This simple, no frills resort is right next to Maenam beach which is great for swimming. Maenam is a great place to stay if you want peace and quiet rather than loud music and crowded bars. If you don't fancy the beach the Hutcha has a lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers. The rooms are equipped with everything you need including a safe, hairdryer, TV and air conditioning. Breakfast was fine but nothing special. Staff speak good English but don't exactly go out of their way to be helpful. The whole place has a very laid back and relaxed feel to it.
The "superior" rooms are really tiny, fine for one person but not big enough for a couple. Might be worth paying more for a "villa". Beds are very low to the ground, just a mattress on a raised concrete platform, not suitable if you have limited mobility or a bad back.
The hotel grounds is green and beautiful which the stream in the middle. Room is relatively big and it is very bright . Bathroom is also big and clean and it does not have a roof which is unusual and cool. Many nice restourants closeby. Place for relaxing holiday, not for party for sure. Overall is a nice hotel but some things needs to be improved.
Very poor breakfast. Only 5 or 6 sun beds which looks really old. Staff at the recepiton is unfriendly. We wanted to hire a bike and they provided for us one very old and weak and did not warn us about that, we could not go up to mountains, so pay attention please to what u are hiring.
Close to beach, nice located bungalows
Most of staff not active, they looked bored and tired. Shower no water for 24 hours. Airco really noisy, but maybe only in our bungalow.
The room was ok & the place was easy to get around.
No one at reception on arrival. Bathroom wasn't very clean & shower head was broken. Room was vey small & food was average.
you get more than for what you're paying for. specially the superior villa roomtype and riverside villa roomtype are really good. i booked for 2 nights, then extended another 5 nights. and nearby is a great bar called Chillout Bar, just a 30 meter walk from the Hutcha... really nice time at this place...!
maybe the outside bathroom was a bit annoying, due the mosquitoes.
It was right on the beach and had a great swimming pool. Breakfast was very good and the staff had a pleasant way. It's also not a far walk to many restaurants and the third market is cute. We would stay again.
The first room we had was fan only was next to the main road and a swamp/ canal thing. It was noisy and unbearably hot. We upgraded for an extra 400bht and it was much better. The canal/ swamp is all the way round and not pleasant so even with the upgrade it is fronted by it.
I like hutcha there are keep the nature and have a friendly with big smile ..
I don't like the river close to hutcha resort because smell bad
The pool was nice and it was close to restaurants, beach and convenience stores.
Staff at the front desk was trying to do too many things at once and was quite rude when there was a miscommunication due to her multitasking. Overcharged us for the taxi to the ferry terminal. Bed was hard. Breakfast was ok, didn't have any other meals there.
This was a beautiful place to stay great breakfast, pool and the rooms were amazing, including a hair dryer, umbrellas and even an electric mosquito repellent. Was right on the beach but with the lovely swimming pool we hardly ventured to the beach only there for 3 nights though.
The rooms are small, broken furniture, air conditioning did not work properly, no water cooker in the room. The environment has not so good smell. Is not what the website promises...
Spend 3 nights there. It was totally a surprise. An independent house was built along the river with great tropic view. 1-minute walk to Mae Nam beach which is awesome. The restaurant serves great food. helping stuff
1- beach is few steps from bungalows 2- delecious breakfast contains all needed items fruits jams honey milk chocalet yougert breads croissant pancakes waffles egg saussegs potates 3- locAl market every thursday was nice 4 7/11 nearby 5 helpfull staff,,special thanks to Tor,may and k from the rstaurant 6 bungalows are build in tropical garden give you sense of heaven
1-they did not clean the room untill we told them 2 location is very quiet ( maenam is just local village )but that what we wanted, but its too expensive to use taxi to go arojnd the island or have dinner in lively area
The location just behind Mae Nam beach is amazing. The bungalows are comfortable, the semi-outdoor bathrooms are spacious and the pool is very pleasant.
The standard bungalows are very small so we moved to a superior one.
by walk to the beach only few min.room build in the very beautiful garden. breakfast is tasty.and there have a lovely swimming pool.
position and beach
the bedroom was too small and cupboard very in convenient .no bedside light to read .
- Big breakfast buffet selection - Big pool
- Mae Nam is so boring - there's nothing to do around there (except the Thursday night street market). You'll pay a fortune going anywhere around the island. - Mae Nam (and rooms) full of Mosquitos. Rude Staff The staff were incredibly rude to us, and very much put us off at the hotel. Worst customer service We had a party to go to and we needed a taxi to get there, we negotiated with the hotel receptionist 500B (one way - expensive as it is considering it was 20 mins away). We told her we needed this in the evening, but would confirm the time to take us a bit later on when we figured everything else out (we 100% told her it would be after 9pm as she looked into getting us a return transport and asked us how long we would be there - we said we'd return around 1-3am, and she said this was this was too late for the driver to wait). Later on, we went to book the transport for 10.30pm - and were told a completely new more expensive price by another receptionist. She simply said the price and didn't listen to us when we said we had agreed a price earlier in the day. I asked her to call the morning receptionist, but she wouldn't. She was rude enough to ignore me and start serving someone else. The next day when I confronted the receptionist about this she said the price was only for the daytime, and full on lied to my face. She even had the cheek to laugh in my face and laugh with her colleagues whilst I spoke to her about this. Awful behaviour. The manager did give us a complimentary meal, but it didn't make up for the staffs disgusting behaviour and lies.
The area was quite nice, very quiet. We really liked the Turkish place around the corner on the main street. Pool was nice as well! The beach was okay but after two nights we moved to the main beach (Chaweng Beach) and this one was really perfect.
We barely saw staff. There is a pool bar but no one was there (we stayed 2 nights). We read in previous reviews that the bed and the bathroom caused trouble. We can only agree with that. The bed is so uncomfortable and in the outdoor bathroom were sooo many mosquitos. We stayed in bungalows with outdoor bathrooms before but it was never such a big issue.
Very friendly staff. Good location to the beach. Clean and quiet.
Nice room and great location, right by the beach and in the middle of Maenam village. Comfortable bed and bedding.
Very fe plug sockets in room and also no bedside lamp/table. Bathroom has some open areas and Mosquitos can be a problem there.
Location was excellent a few metres from the beach close to the small shops and cafes of Mae Nam. The pool was lovely as well.
The bed was rock hard and room much smaller than expected.
