The area where the hotel is located, very quite but close to Thapae Gate area. The wifi internet stoppen working all the time, being on a business trip this was a major nuisance.

I stay at Mandala House every time I visit Chiang Mai. It's an affordable hotel in a great location, near to Loi Khro Rd. but on a quiet back street. The staff is helpful, the breakfast is good, and they have a new section with big, comfortable rooms as well as a swimming pool. I highly recommend Mandala House.

Very central location, ideal for backpacking travellers. Staff were helpful and accommodating. Our room was dirty and when we asked to have it properly cleaned, it wasn't any better. I think there is an old and new part to this hotel and we were in the old part which needed a bit of love and attention. Breakfast was a bit limited.

Rooms are spacious, beautiful design and very quiet surrounding. The hotel is clean too. Staff was friendly and helpful. They can speak foreign language too. The best part is, location of this hotel is good. 5 -10 minutes walk to old city and night market. Breakfast was good. Two good local restaurants located not far from this hotel ,Aroon Rai restaurant with unique authentic Chiangmai and Thai foods and Ratana's kitchen with western and Thai foods. We will definitely stay here when we back to Chiang Mai. Highly recommend. Mosquitoes

Breakfast good and staff subsequently helpful. Shower over bath unsuitable for older guests, difficult to get in an out of bath. On arrival staff were unhelpful. Room door could not be locked, door needed adjustment. Electrical cables in hallway obstructed access to room because of renovations.

Massive rooms, great breakfast, "real" beds, nice linen, probably best bed in thailand in a 4 week trip! Possibly a shower curtain to stop water on the floor as the bath recess didnt catch it properly.

My wife and I stayed here for 11 nights. The location is great, within 5 - 10 minutes walk to the Thapae Gate or the Night Bazaar. If you are on a budget then this is a good choice. The breakfast is sufficient, the rooms are quiet and big enough, the beds are comfortable, and the wifi is usually fast. The hotel staff were always friendly and tried to be helpful. The staff's English level is not high, but they generally understood what we needed and also got their point across. If you only need a couple nights lodging, it is ok, but if your budget allows you may be more happy with a place a few dollars more. Cleanliness is not a high priority. Our first room was in the older part of the hotel and was very unclean with - cob webs, lots of dust, mold, and hair - including lights that did not work. The sheets however were clean, although I hate to think about what the mattress was like. After moving to another room the conditions were better. However, the housekeeping staff still did not sweep the room each day or change the bathroom mat. I also didn't appreciate that the hotel passed on the 3% charge from the credit card company to me. Usually in Chiang Mai this occurs if you spend less than specified amount, or if the retailer is very small. It should not be the case for a hotel with lots of volume.

We stayed at the new building, the rooms where very big and confortable. The breakfast was very good 2 and the hotel is conveniently located, in a quiet street but near the restaurants and bar street. There was a bad smell coming from the bathroom pipes and also some ants, probably because is a new building and they are stll working on it.

The room was gorgeous, big and with ample windows and the breakfast was really delicious (not only the American but also the Continental). Location is very good and very close to Night Bazar, walking street, markets, main rd, Mcdonalds, Starbucks, Boots, etc. Staff very friendly and everything was clean. Very quiet and cosy swimming pool. Tour operator in the hotel and worked very well. Always get red taxis, maybe you will have to share them, but they are a lot less expensive than tuc-tuc... It was a bit difficult to have a shower standing because the water would all go out and flooded the floor. Because of that the floor got slippery and dangerous. They just have to put there something to avoid water going out otherwise you have to get a shower kneeling....no big problem!
