Koh Chang is a lovely island coming more handy than others in Golf of Thailand or Andaman sea. 5 h away from Bangkok ( and that includes the ferry as well), lots to do on the island , lovely beaches , people are just lovely, prices are very good , big enough so you can find a Tesco , a Metro in here if you want to buy stuff, lots of snorkelling places , it’s a must , you will Fall I. From people we know and random searches on the internet, we gathered that Koh Chang would be way less touristy than places like, say Koh Panghan and Koh Samui. That's why we were a little bit disappointed the first few days of our stay on the West side of the island. Yes, it's a bit less crowdy than Samui or Panghan, but it's still QUITE touristy. It's only seems to be more catered to an older (like 65+) crowd - especially around the most famous White Sand Beach - and couples. BUT luckily we found what we were looking for at the much quieter east side of the island. There are less restaurants and (seedy) bars over there, but you can enjoy the beauty of the island and see some of the 'genuine' Thailand in relative calm and ease. The east side I would definitely recommend to friends, the west side not so much. It helped that we stayed in the wonderful Privacy Resort, which made our stay at the east side even more enjoyable.

The sea and sandy beaches are beautiful, there are many wild monkeys, there is a lot of nature, and it is quiet and relaxing. My favorite part is the close proximity to the ocean and mountains, and the great scenery.

A lovely island with beautiful beaches, great food can be found in higher class restaurants down to cheap street food. a visit to Bang Bao pier is recommended. However night life has declined since covid, and many bars and shops have not reopened

The combination of very high rugged mountains ending in rocky or sandy beaches is unique in Thailand. You couldn't put an airport in Koh Chang if you wanted to. The East and West Coast communities are entirely different from one another.

Initially wanted to stay 5 nights and to get move to another location in Ko Chang, but then drove around and realised the resort is at the best spot of the island. The beach was perfect, very clean water, the restaurants and massage places within 5 minutes walk, we did not need to rely on the scooter. Also if you absolutely lazy and can't walk 5 minutes hotel staff could give you a lift in buggy to the restaurants main street.
